What if we just loaded with weights calisthenics basics? (and how to do it for each exercise)
I get the concept of calisthenics and bodybuilding for hypertrophy, but I'd like to learn more about how weightlifting can help with calisthenic skills. Overhead press for handstand pushups for instance.
All right, I’m fine with the benchpress. Like I can do a good amount, but could I phase that out and mainly just do weighted dips and push-up variations? Mainly focused on hypertrophy. I just get bored with the bench even though that sounds sacrilegious lol
How would your energy systems fair and how would you go about creating a hybrid plan that gets you running a 10k comfortably while still progressing in strength with weights+calisthenics?
You should really do a collab with Alex Leonidas, that guy has done it all😮💨
I second this!
@@ellisfrancisfarros3935 We need to get this upvoted😮💨
He's a beast!!
Well... that's asking one of them to get on a plane for a collab in person
And Hampton for ultimate "long haired Asian RUclipsr" combo
Dan and Eugene are the best fitness duo out there, quality is immaculate.
Thank you! 🙏
Don compare Dan with eugene… com on dude
These two are my favorite wholesome fitness RUclipsrs
Thank you!
They are two of the best for sure. So much for us to learn from watching and listening to them.
@@coacheugeneteo Speaking of wholesome fitness, maybe also reach out to Hampton from Hybrid Callisthenics? It's a different audience, but it may be interesting also because of that!
Maaaaan I really enjoyed this
Glad to hear it brother
I'm sure calisthenics leg workouts would do your skating well John!
I built a pretty great physique with Calisthenics, but I wanted more size and switched to traditional strength training. Finally a place where I’m happy with my strength and size and now adding back in more calisthenic exercises. Feels great. Fantastic conversation!
This calisthenics melding with strength training is quite interesting. We all do body weight exercises from time to time, and the cal-people probably do some weight training as well. There is a lot in common. Thanks
Perfect Timing, I started this week my Hybrid Workoutplan
Podcast-like sesh of fave fitness duo? Count me in!!!
so refreshing hearing the Aussie boys stepping up with the best fitness content in the world (no bias)
Awesome!
I love training with weights, but I love certain bodyweight exercises like pullups, ring pushups, dips, ring rear delt flys, ring assisted sissy squats too.
Yeah the boyssss. Great chat 👍🏼
great stuff
This is hugely helpful for someone like myself who wants to learn more about calisthenics and weight training and implement them both in a way that works best for me. Thanks heaps guys, great work 🙏
2 clever, fit, humble and great guys... omg
I’ve been wanting to know this 😮❤
You should do a podcast with one of the noble natties like NH or geoff
TRX or Ring Y Raises are amazing for shoulder development overall
fantastic video! my main goal as a sprinter is to get as strong as possible without getting bigger. Anyways, everyone talks about getting muscle as a primary goal, would you recommend me some of your videos or even other channels which talks about those goals in fitness? thank you
Ive been doing about 75% calisthenics the last 3+ years and ive been able to build a ton of muscle. I do wish i had a few machines, but you can get a long ways with just a dumbbell and body weight movements.
Dips and pull-ups. Everything else, use gym equipment. Easy
Those "prison style" half rep pushups work very well !!
The combination of rings, a set of kettlebells, a pair of adjustable dumbbells goes a long way in building muscle
yes!
Diabolically early
I've been prioritizing arms lately and do weighted arms followed by calisthenics compounds.
the key word here is "BODYBUILDING" if you are an athlete eg hockey player, basketball player etc you can truly get a good and solid session with calisthenics. not taking anything away from what is, being said here, but if your goal is performance and not aesthetics, you're good with bodyweight maybe some bands and set of dumbbells
I actually feel like that the leg training topic isn‘t well thought through. I mean yeah, you gotta bust out a lot of volume. But look at K Boges or Alex Leonidas. A Weight Vest, a lot of reps of (heel elevated) squats, bulgarian split squats, nordic curls and a ton of pain tolerance will get you great legs. And apart from that: doing high volume short rest leg training with a weight vest even will get you conditioned as hell! Look at martial arts, they‘ve been doing it for years. :)
Only thing i do feel is missing is a good hinge. I feel like deadlifts (especially RDL) are so much more effective for strength AND mobility. A hip thrust won‘t do the trick. But apart from that, it will work.
@@lululx3760 i agree with you completely. i would say trx hamstring curls, nordics and trx bridges are quite humbling and effective. even Bulgarians on trx are not simple at all lol
This is really really REALLY wrong from an actual athletic point if view
I'm gonna have a mesocycle of 4 weeks in the gym typical bodybuilding (4 times per week) stuff and then go into a 2/3 week deload where I focus on calisthenics moves (prolly 2 times per week).
Am I feeling a collab between Eugene and Fitness FAQ ganbaru workout split coming?
I love Vaniel Dadnal.
Nice video, I have blended Cali , weights/ cables and stretching for many years and in my 50s and feel amazing every day.
I would seriously add deep stretching and deep squats and free hangs every day. A set of gymnastic rings are very cheap considering the capability they provide and can be used anywhere
there needs to be more discussion about training modalities, such as undulating periodization, workout 3x a week, day 1 is 80% RM, day 2 is 60%RM, day 3 is 70%RM, so you're always in the hypertrophy range, but you're managing load and you have those heavy days to push yourself.
I don't understand how a front lever pull would be more hypertrophic than a row or something. Your grip or core would give out way before your lats do...
Calisthenics + weightlifting + cardio is the future of fitness! That’s why my slogan is: “Strength, Endurance and Lifelong Health “
Its hard to overload the legs with calisthenics. You do tons of squats everyday when sit down and get up, and with every step a single leg supports all your bodyweight. So bodyweight isnt a tough challenge for your legs
If your 6’ 135lbs you ain’t building ANY muscle from calisthenics.. 8 years and I couldn’t gain a single pound.. 1 month w/ a barbell and I gained 20lbs!
Wasted my ENTIRE youth because I listened to roided up calisthenics “influencers” who made me think I had 💩genetics.. turns out I can maintain a lean 175lbs easily with ease.. all it takes is a barbell and 30 minutes a day.. calisthenics wastes SO MUCH TIME!
what about sets&reps ? the muscle dont care about how much you weight tension is everything maybe you did circuit training doesnt build muscle a part of aesthetic is wide back pull ups give you that💯
It sounded like bro said progression rizz 9:43
Legs are hard. Nothing like a leg press, hack squat, leg extension, or leg curl machine.
Give me a barbell, a squatrack with a pull up bar and dip handles and cable attachment.
I am the happiest kid in the world 🙂
No machines needed.
You probably can get decently big with calisthenics but it's hard. On the other hand though, imo calisthenics makes you strong af. In som cases you'll be able to lift heavy weights without ever weight lifting. I think that overall, people who train calisthenics are stronger then people who weight lift but this is hard to objectively measure. People who do calisthenics will be able to lift weights but people who lift weights will never be able to do advanced calisthenics movements.
People are always stronger at what they do, and I would argue u can build more strength with weights but technique is the limiting factor with the advanced skills.
K boages, tristan nee.. these guys do bw only and look better then 90% of gym goers!
"How to maximise muscle gains..." ooooh, great!
"..with bodyweight workouts" oh. No, thank you.
6:10 this isn't natty at all.
😂 Dude. You cant be serious
