  • You might be asking yourself 'What's an easy walk in the Lake District?' In this hiking vlog, I undertake an easy walk in the Lake District - the Latrigg Wainwright walk along the old railway - Keswick. It's a beautiful, circular walk in England's Lake District and is one of many things to do in Keswick. We summit Latrigg from Keswick (a circular hike)

Do you have any easy walks in the Lake District that you could recommend for future trips?

Binsey Hill is a easy walk in the Lake District it's a little hill 447 Meters High about 5 miles north of Keswick I went up there yesterday I made it to the top in under 20 minutes.

@Mr Jones Thank you for this reply... and I'm sorry its taken me so long to come back to you. RUclips never notified me of the response so have only just seen it today. The Binsey Hill tip is fab as we'll be headed back up that way this summer and staying in the North of the Lakes once more. The photos on Google Images look stunning and if it's just 20 minutes, it's a no brainer! 🙏 It's been added to the map I have going!

Start at Ambleside and go straight through Rothay Park from Vicarage Road, cross the stone bridge, turn right and follow the river northwest and then north taking in lovely views of the fells, go past the stepping stones (see if you can cross and back without getting wet), and take a left westwards before the bridge to the A591. Past a little car park, and after a short hill, come out to a lovely view of Rydal Water, take the high route to Rydal Caves or a lower route along the water's edge, and watch for birds of prey circling above. When the woods start, take the path northwards towards White Moss Car Park and enter the woods. After a short walk through the woods, you come to a bridge,, don't cross but instead, turn left and follow the river down a narrow path through the woods. Keep on following the river which will turn west and eventually, you come out to a small sandy beach at Grasmere Lake by the ford. Follow the lake shore and path till you come to a steep track up to Red Bank road. At the top turn right northwards and follow the road into Grasmere village, stopping off at Tweedies bar for a well-deserved drink or two. Usually takes me 2.5-3 hours without stops, is just over 5 miles long, is quite flat apart from two small sections, and is by far my favorite easy walk in the Lake District...

Excellent vlog, very engaging and enjoyable. We are heading off this morning for 4 days in the Lakes, so this was a very pleasant appetizer. Cheers Alan

Whoa, that's intense!! I re-visited Latrigg at the end of this summer and I group of runners arrived at the top shortly after us - no idea how any one can do it. Were you like me with Cross Country - walked most of it, or were you able to run it?

@@WhenAdventureKnox I ran it all......could never get in the football team at school but I could run anything over 800 metres......only 2nd best in the school though.....my best mate Tony Wilkinson (where are you now mate?) was always ahead of me.....he had an effortless lazy gait of a run but ate up the ground with ease. After school I started playing amateur football......played saturday and Sunday league from aged 17 to 38, then continued just Saturdays until I was 53, and even then only stopped under orders from the wife ( I took her to the Lakes to get married).
      Those were the days...

This old railway route has been completely restored, even suitable for wheelchairs.

    How long did this take

Hi HazePC. A tricker question than you may first think. I never showed it in the Vlog, but shortly after I stopped filming, one of my friends fell over and a couple of sharp pieces of slate went through their knee resulting in a nurse passing by doing some fairly serious First Aid on the hiking trail (for perspective, she said we had to take them to the A&E in Penrith and they ended up with 13 stitches). Then of course getting back to the car was a very slow process too. I think normally you could do it in about 3 hours though.

I'm not a fan of that bridge either it's a bit of a eyesore on the way up to Latrigg.
