    My Son in law is from North India. He was so surprised & delighted to learn that we've discovered these melons in the U.S. He says they grow wild in India and they never have to plant them. He says they come up wild in the corn fields too, and grow up the stalks. They eat them green AND orange. When they're still green and not quite ripe, his Grandmother makes a "very yummy" chutney out of them while they're still sour & just slightly sweet. He also says Kajari is pronounced Kah-jah-REE.

    I really appreciate you teaching your children that spiders are friends! I wish more people did that, too many people kill them out of fear. They're such great, yet misunderstood little creatures.

    • @locoken
      @locoken Год назад +1

      Second this. I was brought up being taught that spiders were to be killed any time you found them. Yeah, I don't like them crawling on me but we catch them and put them outside if they are found in the house. I'd much rather have them around so they take care of all the other nasty pests. Let nature take it's course and stay out of its way.

    I had this strange, mutant plant that came with my acorn squash seeds. I let it grow out of curiosity. If it weren't for you, Jess, always talking about your kajari melons, I would not have known where to start looking. Sure enough, I got one beautiful kajari melon, but it was a bit more yellowish when it was ripe. I have the seeds curing on a plate, of course! I'm excited for next year!

    I ate my first Ha'Ogen the other day and it was so ripe the outside was orange! The flesh was pure white the whole way to the rind, and it was sweeter than sweet! Had a sweet, floral taste and we thought that the closer you got to the rind, the more it had a hint of a sweet banana flavor. So eager to try growing the Kajari Melon, I need to find seeds for it! The Madhu Ras is also a delicious one to grow that is small.
