As an airgun shooter I knew I'd find this interesting but as a .22 springer shooter who has never shot HFT and have till now, not even really considered it , I enjoyed this far more than I thought I would ,whilst reading about it in the Magazines gives an out line and a rough picture ,but this show illustrates perfectly the interactions banter and sheer fun of the event better than any print could ever do . Thanks Gary keep up the good work , Shoot Straight Stay Safe & Stay Well .
Hi Gary, would it be possible to do a video on the standing, kneeling and prone positions for shooting HFT and also some good tips on how to hold your gun still as I am 70 yrs old and find it very difficult to keep my gun still. Also could you explain what hamsters are and the benefits of using them. Thanks for all your videos. I enjoy watching them tremendously and have learned a lot from them as I have only been shooting air rifles for a couple of years and have a long way to go in the sport. Agains thanks Gary. Paul Cowen
Hi Paul, if you look in my playlist we have video's on everything you need. With regard to Hamsters, they are the adjustable bit of wood that sits under the stock on some rifles and add depth. This makes it easier to shoot the rifle prone and standing. Gary
What a great video Gary. Well done .it really makes me want to get the old competition gun dusted off and back on the circuit. It's been maybe 10 years now .
Great video Gary! shows the true sportsmanship and camaraderie at HFT! All the best from HFT Groningen and looking forward to meet you all at the Air Arms International Challenge here in The Netherlands at 4rd June! 😁👍
Oh, that's a pity! Would have loved to meet you. I assume that there will be a strong delegation from the UK in any case. Congratulations to your in-laws and have a wonderful day!
What a fab video Gary! That lady with the red hair looks amazing xx It's a wonderful sport and I recommend everyone give it a go!! You will be hooked!!
@@jacquesffouche1488 before you drop it, shot some paper at 40m, if it's a nice clean hole leave it, if the hole is bigger then a regulat .177 pellet, it's tumbling.
I was using JSB 8.44 4.51 at 11.3 foot pounds 777 feet per second in my Air Arms but have begun using QYS 8.48 which has improved my accuracy and lock time. The foot pounds has now gone to around 11.6 and 785 feet per second. 😎
Hi Sam. A few years ago, the obvious pointer would have been to Quarry FTC just outside (South East) of Blackwood. Sadly now 'gone'. Otherwise, there's Nelson FTC, also adding HFT in to the mix. It's just South of - no surprise - Nelson. Worth having a look at the club finder map on Shooting-the-breeze. Not certain YT allows a link, but here goes www.google.com/maps/d/viewer?hl=en&ie=UTF8&msa=0&ll=54.800054020619264%2C-1.7578120000000483&spn=9.638755%2C33.815918&t=h&z=6&mid=1IUXL4jTfcbNwbdmXxQwVOdPsJ6o
Hi Sam, unfortunately Quarry is no more, the closet Field Target club you have is Nelson FT near Pontypridd. If however you are happy to travel you have two great hft clubs just over 2 hours away, these are Nomads and Furnace Mill. Or, get a bit of land and get a club started :-)
GARY: As with you, I don't ever wish to miss my fully loaded morning coffee. I've been chided by my partners for needing my caffeine. Does this effect your and my shooting skill? How do you overcome the caffeine shakes? Conundrum . . . I must have my coffee . . . can my shakes be overcome? By the by, I'm past my 75th birthday and already have too much of a natural deficit to overcome.
A great video, giving everyone an insight in the wonderful sport of HFT. It's a privilege to spend time with such a fantastic bunch of people.
Cheers Kev, it's people like you who make it special.

Thank you for the video, Gary. What great fun you have. We love life at the range.

Another amazing video Gary. Definitely a positive and informative look into hft and has only increased my urge to give it a try.
Definitely, you will love it.

The AA International is an amazing event. Unfortunately I can't make it this year as its the Mother and Father in laws 60th Wedding anniversary.
Oh, that's a pity! Would have loved to meet you. I assume that there will be a strong delegation from the UK in any case. Congratulations to your in-laws and have a wonderful day!
Hi Gary, great video thanks for the time you spent producing it. I'm left handed so fine the HW97 easier to load.
They do have that advantage :-) Gary
Well done Garry never tried it because I shake a lot but that looked like real good fun and very friendly. 👍
Please give it a go!! You will be more than welcome to try many different rifles x
Hi Chris, have you tried shooting sticks or would that not help?
Very informative for us new shooters brilliant
Glad it helped Steve - Gary
Great sport, the banter reminds me of when I was club match fishing. Might have double my efforts to get better a plinking and give it a go.
Great vlogs Gary. Not decided FT or HFT I want to get into. But will try HFT just to meet you and make an appearance in one of your videos!
Sounds good to me. Gary
I wish we had these in my state.
You can always set it up, all you need is some targets, some friends and the ability to rip the crap out of people :-)

My favourite Geezer Bird :-)

Nice shooting
I’m thinking of doing a taster session at furnace mill in the wyre forest
You won't regret it. Ed will take care of you. Gary
Very entertaining but a pity we couldn't see the targets . 👍
I’m sure your bad day was just Focus as I’m sure there was a lot of planning and rushing around in filming stuff. Much appreciated
Made me laugh, great video
Glad you enjoyed it - Gary
What will be the best speed for a pellet in a springer( ft shooting) especially to help in windy situations?
In wind, I try to be fairly fast. In .177 my favourite speed is 777fps, anything over 785 and the pellet seems to tumble.
@@garychillingworth thanks Gary.Mine lgv shoots at 787 so drop it a bit.
