Thanks for the advice this really helped, after shooting for 18 months with a few lads on a Sunday this is definitely something we could do for a bit of fun.
Thank you Gary. I’m about to purchase my first Air Rifle and your series of ABC vids are priceless to me. You’ve convinced me that I should have a go at HFT and I intend to do so. I need to learn my scope (which I don’t have yet) first and get some shots in, but I certainly intend to give it a go. I am enjoying your vids, thank you.
Having started HFT the start of this year I’ve found your videos a great help. Maybe the follow up to this should be the prep before a shoot I.e. making a range card for your scope, checking zero etc. It’s probably the most important thing to get right.
Great vid Gary , the amazing thing is , my Mrs was talking to that chap and his daughter at furnace mill a few weeks back ... Mrs wants a crack at HFT , might give it a go myself at some point , but I love the target and plinking range and you meet some great chaps and lasses .. superb video , and the rules were very eloquently explained ... top show , and the Mrs thinks you are fantastic ..
Thanks a lot Mate!! Great to hear all this master classes from you. Hope all my non bilingual club partners here in Bogota, Colombia could understand all this information. In any case will share with them lots of small tricks you mentioned here. Regards. Vladimir Moreno.
Great video, Gary. Very comprehensive. 👍 Thank you for doing this. 🙏 I’d love to take my TX in the new ‘para class’ but sadly there’s just nothing that I can find in N Wales. I shoot at a range at least twice a week and have always wanted to try it but under the standard rules, I wouldn’t be able to do it. ☹️ This video will be referred to for years and years. 👏👏
Fantastic review THANK YOU, I've only been shooting for about 6 months, and this is just what I've been waiting for, at the moment im just plinking and target shooting at my local range ( Black Brook County sports tamworth) brilliant range. Getting ready for when i retire in 3 years, can you or will you be doing a review in FT please.
Is it at black Brook??, looking forward to seeing the FT , review, there's a lot more to air rifle shooting that i could ever imagine lol, just trying to learn has much as possible, but i realise you're always learning thats why I really enjoying the sport. At the moment I have a walther reign, 97kt springer, and just brought a daystate wolverine R, LOVE the springer my favourite go to rifle.
Hi Gary, you have said that you aren’t the best at the Maths relating to riflescope adjustment. If you aren’t that good, how poor am I? So for a newbie just about to do spend his ‘hard earned’ on a new Hawke Sidewinder, I’m worried as I’m not sure whether I should be buying an Mrad or moa scope? It’s the 4 - 16 x 50 that I’m buying, am I doing wrong? Love your vids Gary, priceless! Thank you.
Thinking of returning to HFT in 2024 maybe after well over a decade out. Has much changed in that time. I used to shoot recoiling class, I was thinking of returning with a TX200HC. Although I could be tempted to go pcp. Time moves on and tech changes and develop. Scope choice is what stumps me at the moment, scope choice is critical to me. What are the top guns using these days?
Great Video, thank you. Can you tell me the make/model of the hamster you have fitted to the HW100 Laminate Adjustable. I'm looking for something similar and haven't seen that one before. Many thanks
Hi Ryan, it's a 3D printed one from Bod Pattenden. If you have Facebook, I've put a pic up on the lifeattherange page or drop me an email and I'll give you bobs details. Chilly
I wonder how many shooters would take it up but for the one shot only rule ,me and my shooting bodies would love to take it up but all have rotary magazines ,
I found this video really informative thanks . Could you please tell me the make of your gun bag or recommend a good quality bag for someone starting out
Bit late to the discussion so may not be seen but trying to find info on the disabled rules if there are any? would love to have a go but being disabled the lying down while possible would be problematic over a whole day and kneeling is pretty much impossible :(
I bought a .22 air arms pro sport other day. Beautiful rifle. It's got a hawk 4-12x50 scope I believe. Do I have a chance of actually hitting anything in an HFT competition? Cheers.
Absolutely. Just learn your aim marks for the various yardages. Your .22 will have much more of a pronounced trajectory than the usual flatter trajectory .177 rifles. But get good in .22, and there aren't as many competitors so your mantlepiece might fill up with trophies faster!
@@combatwombat71 Thanks! Is there usually an opportunity to zero scope on a range before the competition starts? Or is that something which is expected to be done well before time? I don't have a garden unfortunately.
Yes, there's quite often a zero range. But you should always zero your scope somewhere else in order to set your aim points anyway. If you have it set to, say, a 23yd zero, there will often be a series of targets at a club where you can confirm your zero is correct before you start.
Hi, Uncle Gazza, out of interest here, why do you not opt use a higher quality scope like a Zeiss conquest 4-16 x 44, or maybe the Meopta MeoStar R1 4-16x44. Thanks
It's an interesting question. I have a Zeiss Conquest and it's amazing. The main reason is the CP is light and does everything I need. Also, I never swap mid season. Next year I'm going to look at the Zeiss, Vortex Viper and another scope which I can't speak about yet.
Just a thought for another amazing sexy video ... you mentioned filling out cards and getting any errors signed off by a marshal. How about a "How to fill out your card" topic. Prob considered a tad boring on its own, but could be included with something else. And as all organisers know, we're constantly having to remind people to fill out detail correctly, legibly and in full. And we have lots of new/newer competitors uncertain what each field on the card means. "IR"?? "Rifle"?? Just a simple guide - showing what's right and wrong - would be helpful. Whadaya reckon, sexy man? 😀

I love Nick. He's a top bloke and so knowledgeable at Furnace Mill. Jenny will be a World Champion one day!
Another excellent and informative presentation. Thank you.

How far are you from Nelson FT club buddy ?
Very informative. Thanks for making this video.
My pleasure!
Really enjoying your videos and learning of HFT. I'm not sure, but I doubt this sport is as popular in USA. I'd love to try it.
"Ooh doughnuts." 😆 Quality.
Very informative!!!!! Can you please list you set-up for your TX200?
Good video thanks.
Glad you enjoyed it - I work with a Simon Kaye :-) Gary
Can you please do a video on the trajectory of a 177 pellet

The Vortex is very popular, also the Optisan CP 10x32, but Alex Honeywell has just won the Worlds with a Eb Sniper from 1834
@@ShootingCountryTV Thanks for that, Mk4 Leups we’re being used by many top shots back then.
Brilliant video just what I need please keep them coming 👍 also what make is the hamster on the hw100kt laminate?
It's a 3d printed one from Bob Pattenden.

That's coming. Just sorting stuff with Jason lockett
@@garychillingworth sweet mate thanks sooo much.👍👍
I wonder how many shooters would take it up but for the one shot only rule ,me and my shooting bodies would love to take it up but all have rotary magazines ,
That's not a problem, you can use a multi shoot. You just take the mag out inbetween lanes.
I found this video really informative thanks . Could you please tell me the make of your gun bag or recommend a good quality bag for someone starting out
No problems, my bag is a Aim45. Not cheap, but they are great at what they do.

Hi there.
Is it possible to use a rifle 16J that uses a 10 shoot magazine, but in competition uses a single shot adaptor/tray?
It's legal?
Thanks
Can you please do a video on the rules regarding slings
In HFT you can use them to carry the rifle, but that's all. You can't use them to stabilise.
@@garychillingworth thanks for the clarification

I’m just getting into HFT , you mentioned that you may run out of air during a shoot ,, are you allowed to re fill during the shoot if this happens 👍
It can happen, but most guns are more then capable of 30 good shots. what gun do you have?
Why is your right trouser leg so short? Does this help with stability during standing shots?
I dress to the right and it takes up space.
