I bought everything from you and A makers studio and painted the pots. But when I tried to do the stencils it is not coming out. Does the chalk art need to be thicker or thinner?

I went to Ace Hardware in Middleton, Idaho and the Amy Howard corner did not have milk paint nor the kit shown here. Very disappointed as I really wanted to do this.
