@@nervsoulyopinion of a german who visited both countries for quite some time: Japanese people win this 99/100 times. Brits are not the gentlemen of old times. Actually brits are seen like elaborated eastern europeans.
My opinion, long before Brexit was: Stop troublemaking and No opt outs or out. Brits chose "out" which was sad, but better then keep on scrounging. Then, the years long Brexit-debate in Britian was only about money which told everything you need to know about the Brittish attitude. If only we could get rid of the 2 remaining troublemakers Poland and Hungary.
Most europeans can distinguish between the British people and the British government. I feel sorry for the people who were against it and lost so much. At the same time I feel the politicians deserve that chaos they have created.
"Germany enters recession following economic 'collapse' - and experts predict the situation is only going to get WORSE for Europe's largest economy... as IMF sharply upgrades UK growth forecast"
@@vornamenachname906 The smartest thing they ever did? Britain is the only industrial nation that has a shrinking economy, which is a direct result of brexit. They lost a lot of trading that they are now trying to build back up. It's wasn't beneficial at all to leave the EU, even if the EU has some major flaws.
@@Dwarf2005 Haha I guess people reading the "dailymail" are also the one who voted for Brexit. They are known to be unbiased and very factual! Let's talk after you stopped reading propaganda.
Unfortunately, these politicians are the ones who generally suffer the very least. It is always the ordinary people and always the part at the bottom of the prosperity that suffers the most - and generally has very poor chances to change things for the better. Life is a bitch.
This is funny, and pretty typical of German humour. As a Brit living in Germany, the day after Brexit, people came to us asking "will you be okay?" and "how can we help?" We got loads of assistance from individuals and the German Government so we could stay.
I followed and follow the UK's politics and Brexit closely - it is a bit like an entertaining soap opera. 😅 It is amazing how opinionated british media is, they keep mentioning "new EU rules" that may piss of brits (travel woes, commerce), yet these are in no way new EU rules, just things slowy coming effect because the UK is ouside the EU and the grace periods of tariffs and border checks are expiring.
Right. While in the EU, the UK was pushing for those rules against "Third Countries" and now they've become one of those countries themselves. And keep complaining ...
I love the fact that they used „Peter Paul and Mary“ because that’s paying homage to one of Germany’s greatest comedians ever. A man named Otto Waalkes, who is a legend within German comedy at this point used these names for funny stories which he told in english and then translated to German in a way that the words used sound like their German equivalents but it created another meaning to these stories that ranged from silly and funny to straight up dark
The "cleaning woman" Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer was Merkel's successor as leader of the CDU. She had been Minister-President (aka Prime Minister) of the very small federal state of Saarland before, and she was thought to be the next chancellor candidate of the CDU to succeed Merkel, but she already resigned after only one year as the head of the party. The "cleaning woman" was her custome for a political carnival show, which became infamous because she made jokes about transgender toilets and people wanting to have another gender on stage in that custome.
9:38 The point with Saalafisten was a joke. Salafisten are actually extrem pro muslims. The Salafi movement or Salafism is a revival movement within Sunni Islam. Saarland on the otherhand is a forested, southwestern German state bordered by France and Luxembourg. Named after the Saar River, a tributary of the Moselle, Saarland is considered part of the greater Moselle wine region. Thats why wrote Saarlafisten instead of Salafisten.
0:56 No, its not stereotypical, and im pretty sure its also not supposed to be. Its part of the pun. Its kinda hard to explain tho. Its pretty much calling this brexit thing and brits lethargic. and the word they used for it rhymes with 'Hängetit*en', being 'baggy b**bs'. Hence the pic combining the two.
10:25 The sail boat is the "Gorch Fock", a historic marine ship used for training of new cadets. It needed an overhaul which got so costly a new sailboat would've been cheaper.
the point of tradition and history, really, is that it is tradition and history, as in old. building a new sailboat would be just dumb regardless of price. like building a brandnew dome in cologne. because it would be cheaper.... in the end the Gorch Fock got repaired. and rightfully so.
@@connectingthedots100 pretty much. nothing wrong with commissioning a new sail boat, it will just be boat. not the historic Gorch Fock. plain and simple, really
For the UK people in this chat, we should explain the desaster: - The sailing ship Gorch Fock was originally built in 1958 for the costs of 8.5 Million D-Mark (roughly 4.3 million Euro, not considering inflation); - In 2015, it was decided to work it over for an estimated total of 10 million Euro; given the history of the ship and the loss in purchasing power a reasonable price; - In 2017 the estimated costs skyrocketed to 75 million Euro; - A few months later, in March 2018, the estimated costs were already at 135 million euro; - the wharf wich had taken the contract went bankrupt over this renovation; - In September 2021 the restauration was completed and the ship was handed over again to the Bundesmarine for the costs of 135 million Euro.
A few months ago I was in the studio when they were filming the show, it was so good. You have to apply for tickets because the seats are so popular 😅 Also, don’t be ashamed of your country, our politicians are pretty embarrassing too. making fun of them is the main topic of the show 😂 lots of them can’t even speak proper English like you just saw.
I really like how you take German satire and German humor. Usually, Germans have a reputation of being quite humorless and stiff among many people from other countries. Spoiler: this is not true ;) Anyway, the "heute-show" is a gem of a political satire. The host and all the other comedians who appear on the show are, in my opinion, the best in our country. I, as a German, am really pleased that this show and the satire in it, which fluctuates between subtle and brutal, is also well received outside Germany. I like your videos and how you react to German comedy.
heute show exists, so that German citizens know about what they are allowed to laugh. It is a German govt. friendly propaganda show, which teaches spineless creatures mindless propaganda. Whoever finds that show funny has sacrificed his last working brain cells. The same goes with Extra3 and Jan Böhmermann.
Yeah right, only a German needs to be warned if a joke should be told in his dull life! You are like robots.. Just make sure programming are correct and the rest is predictable 😴🍻
As a German who really enjoys the heute show it's nice to see it's also appreciated by you guys. It's a really great combination of satire and updates on what's happening on the world and in Germany.
The "Saarlafisten" joke referred to the salafi movement which gained some attention in germany a while ago. However radical they appeared to be it seems they kinda faded away into insignificance. I guess that's kinda what they were aming at with this joke making it a word play connecting it to the home state (Saarland) of our former minister of defence. Might be that i just didn't get the point here though 😂
@@celticwinter The number grew sharply 2013-2017, due to IS "caliphate" and associated movements and peaked in 2020. While the "Lies!" campaign is not visible anymore, there are public missons, like "Street-Da’wa". (source: BfV report)
Its very funny to see you react to this. Im from Germany and have seen this episode (and most others) live on tv when they were published. Half of the jokes are also side-punshes to german things, like our millitary is quite famous here for not working - at all - and the "saarland" is a tiny part germany that is like - lets just say it does not exist. I don't think germans are so direct, but german commedy definitely is. Thats the fun about commedy, this in-your-face mentallity. We also have this stupid commedy, but we also have this amazing "politisches Kabarett", which uses commedy as a way to spread education. My personal favourite is "die anstalt", but its very difficult to understand the meta-layer, even speaking german. Overall, keep doing this, and keep spreading the contents to a international public. Have a nice day ❤
Greetings from Germany 🤗 Very enjoyed your video and how you percieve our Heute Show! It would be very difficult to explain to foreigners how Heute Show works, but you're doing so good in understanding and explaining it! It's really a pity that the puns they made in this episode (where they translated German sayings into English) are hard to understand by foreigners - you guys would love it 😂 And just in case some viewers need to hear it: We like British people very much, you are welcome here and we hope that we are still welcome in your country ☺️ We just brag about the Brexit itself, because it's honestly very chaotic and - in my opinion - a little bit unneccessary, so we want it to be over (but it's taking so long, thanks to British and EU politics). Germans express feelings like these by a kind of "humoristic/satiric shittalking" against everybody who is involved, but in reality we don't mean it that way 🤗 (Well, some of the Germans sadly do, and they say that very loudly, which makes it look like many people don't like you, but in Germany we say "Nicht geschimpft ist genug gelobt" which means "Not being criticized is enough appraisal" - so, since the vast majority of Germans don't criticize you, they like you very much 😂)
Maybe you would also like "neo Magazin royal", one awesome episode is about "Thiel" an German American entrepreneur and zhe episode is really epic. One episode about the Austrian government is also amazing
You said it: "We need people like this" The service people like Pispers, Welke Böhmermann, (...) are doing to German democracy can't be highlighted enough! As the majority always was and still is too stupid/uneducated to make an informed and sensible decision when voting, the "heute show" helps those who at least have their hearts in the right place to make some sense of all the conflicting views and overwhelming amount of information out there. Yes, I do speak for myself here... 😉
The whole "German Aircraft Carrier"-thing just came at the perfect moment. The German Navy owns an old traditional sailing ship, the Gorch Fock, and it had to get maintainance - what became a total mess... in the end it took them 6 years, cost millions of tax money and was just another embaressment for the german Army and Ministry of Defense. And while this was happening, the Secretary of Defence talked about the great idea to build a CV meanwhile they cant repair a 100y old sailing ship. (and yes I know, the real issue was the bureaucracy bs and some corruption, not the missing skills or knowledge - but still, pure Comedy)
I'd assume you've never seen work on wooden hulls or masts in a shipyard, because it's not like replacing a wooden board in your table. It might also have played a role, that A LOT of shipyard time frames in the navy were pushed into the unknown future for decades, because too little money was allocated. Yet the ships and boats were expected to deliver very high service hours. It doesn't take a genius to realize that this might be bad. It should also have been pointed out in ARD media, because they themselves are not exactly suffering from too little money. Now, why would you think there was this oversight in reporting for decades?
@@celticwinter Ye, u assumend right - and I couldnt care less about how complicated it is, to repair a wooden ship - the ppl who are in charge are the ones who should care. This ship is a prestige object of the military of one of the richest nations on this planet and they were not able to repair it, without trouble - what an embaressment. Pure Comedy.
@@SovermanandVioboy The point is that it was repaired in that way is because people voted that way. I wouldn't call it comedic. There's many shipyards in serious trouble, many closed since then, this really isn't recent -- ask the workers if they're having a laugh.
I am writing my comment as a german who lived in London as a child in the late 80s/early 90s. The Brexit was a bad day for me. I was realy sad. I think that was a bad idea, not only for Britain...it was a bad day for Europe as a Union, too. I still love Britain until today. I had one of the best times of my childhood there. I still watch british tv shows and eat british food. I love the people and the culture. It was interesting that you mentioned that one problem were the less educated people who were missinformated by propaganda. We have the same problem here in Germany at the moment. The fascist party (anti EU as well) is around 20% now. I am affraid lookin towards the next elections. I hope the UK will join the EU some day again. Nice to see that "our" Heute-Show is so appreciated in Englisch speaking countries! Anyway, you said there was no similair covarage in the UK: I recommand checking out Jonathan Pie here on RUclips, his rants are definitly on par with the Heute-Show, especially regarding directness and sarcasm.
Just watched a video. He is more biting and less humourous. What separates the two is, I think, that the Heute Show lightens it up from time to time with a silly joke or picture. Definitely gonna watch more of that guy, though, he is going at it.
You think so? I think Heute Show is the last trash. It's politically motivated, not funny and arrogant. All they do is bashing People who are not in their Line.
I appreciate your attempt to get a closer view into german minds or german thinking - that's absolutely impressive. Your way via german comedians or political entertainment by comedians may be a clever move because they do also explain us germans sometimes, what we may not see, deny or refuse to see in general or in particular contexts. The view from an external position often depicts flaws you'll never see when inside the mass. The comedian from his position is also extern somehow. You have asked for different and more performers to learn more about german minds: If you want to get deeper in this categories of german humour, reflexions and "education via comedy", you should not miss the famous Vicco von Bülow aka "Loriot" and his views around. An oldschool comedian without the very comedyish attempt, more an academic attempt in different styles: dialogues, role plays/scenes, monologues and cartoons. His program has been famous and much-loved from the late 1970ies until 1990ies. Clearly and slowly spoken and always presented with a sympathic touch of diabolic smile in his face.
Some of the images can't be understood without context and good translations. "Hängebritten" was translated as indecisive brits. But it was a wordplay on "Hängetitten" / hanging tits. That should make the image more ... telling.
It is so funny and so sad at the same time. I loved our UK brothers and sisters so much. And never wanted them any bad. And they left me anyways. 😪 It is so hard to see them suffer. But they wanted to learn the hard way that living alone is worse than living together. I am so sorry for anybody who goes through this while being against it.
The UK did the right thing by leaving this union of losers and is not suffering from brexit but from their own insane regulations and money printing! Would they vote out their woke eco government the UK could surpass the rest of the EU in no time.

While i rarely watch TV nowadays, this guy from the "heute-Show" you just watched is just great, he sprinkles comedy in serious topics, makes them interesting and fun to listen to, and mostly he talks plain and simply facts. And yeah, Germans are pretty direct but it also varies from are to area: lets say you messed up at work, your supervisor or someone else will say to you "Hey man, you meesed up there", while in the area i grew up in its more like this "hey, you f*cked up!" It varies from "calm to Severe seriousness" xD
Fun fact: a big part of education is to prepare you for eating propaganda - plus being propaganda itself often enough. But yes: the majority of people falls for propaganda, no just the Brits by the way.
The self depreciation reminds me when the multimational NATO maneuver "Air Defender" was on in June.... We had British helicopters over (amongst all sorts of foreign forces) and they were practicing formation flying. Two colleagues watched them when one said: "Aren't they flying a bit too close together? ...Our pilots don't do that." The other one responded bluntly: "That's actual military right there, you know."
Its very sad for British young people and No-Brexit Voters that BRexit happened. However it fills me with very much Schadenfreude to watch British Pensioneers that voted Pro-Brexit be all baffled by the fact, that they now need Visas to enjoy their Retirement Houses in Spain. Thats just one of those "leopards ate their face" moments i really enjoy.

You have to watch the video in which Lutz van der Horst tries to sell some products in the UK. It's from the Heute Show too and even most of the time in english. The topic is also the Brexit. Btw nice video!
The segment towards the end was btw. also a parodie of the way english was taught for way too long in German schools. Complete with tapes where you could listen to those awkward texts. Also very similiar to the lessons on the "telecollege" (since TV is supposed to be educational, they acutally tried to do lessons over it).
6:43 You had "Screenwipe"/"Newswipe" with Charlie Brooker, which is on par, sometimes even better than German Kabarett. When I asked a ZDF Kabarett writer whether they knew Charlie Brooker, the answer was: "Of course!"
small sidenote for 4:16 he says "Billionen" while the subtitles say "trillions" this is NOT a mistake, since in german we have Milliones->Milliarden->Billionen->Billiarden and so on while the english language just has millions->billions->trillions->quadrillions and so on I don't actually know where that comes from (never taught in school and never really cared enough to Google) but it's a weird little source of potential misunderstanding related to very big numbers specifically

I think some of the jokes were so harsh because they were fueled by bitterness. Deep down even when Germans and other Europeans said they were just fed up with brexit taking so long and Britain should just get it over with everyone (at least the ones who support the EU) still wished they'd somehow change their minds about the whole thing. It was quite painful to watch a powerful trading partner and "cultural ally" leave, especially during times in which only a unified Europe can hope to still be seen as a global player. There have been multiple forces, many of which supported by foreign powers, who only want to cause friction among Europes nations to ultimately "divide and conquer" and it was worrying to see their tactics work.
Industry and trademanagement in the EU may be bitter, population not so much ;) All people I know just said "Why don't they leave already and stop whining?". What would a single person in the EU would've gained, if the British stayed in? We just felt sorry for the nearly 50% that would've wanted to stay. Everyone in the EU knew, that Britain didn't pull they weight in the EU. They mainly took. That's not how it works. That's why the owned a huge amount of money to the EU. 0:41 About your question wether that is how we imagine Brits to be: No, not really. They chose that specific image, because it is a visualization to a play of words, that they didn’t even try to translate. „Hängebrittten“ is half way brits, half way breasts that gave in to age and gravity. Because it’s at the same time a comment on the Brits not making up their mind, it fits what he wanted to say, while being a play of words. 😅
Here are two more of short Heute-Show clips that discuss Brexit: ruclips.net/video/_7agK66T7Hw/видео.html ruclips.net/video/AxJOXNyihA0/видео.html Oh, and two additional things nobody asked for: first of all, there are lots and lots of episodes from 2012 that are way more funny and brutal, but sadly those aren't available with english subtitles, and second of all, I'm from Russia, live in Germany, speak Russian, German, French and English, will move to Singapore soon and am learning Mandarin, so I'm as big of a mess culturally as you are. It's cool that you like our humor! Die Heute Show started off as the German version of The Daily Show -- I'm surprised that there was not British equivalent.
At the beginning, when he called you "indecisive brits" he said "Hänge-Briten", which is an innuendo to "Hänge-Titten", meaning "sagging tits". That's why that image of a brit they used, is one of an overweight man with said sagging bits. (I used hyphens in the german words to show the parts of the composite nouns.)
Also, also: The german TV station ZDF is one of the stations funded by Germanys mandatory TV tax. The regular news show of the ZDF is called "heute" (meaning "today"), and airs daily at 7 p.m. The "heute show" airs weekly, fridays at 10:30 p.m.

No, we dont think Brits look like the guy at the beginning, its just a parody. Germans dont run around with Picklehaube helmets either, but are often depicted like that in sensationalist British newspapers. Lutz is one of their "outside reporters", who goes out on the streets, visits rallies or protests, gatherings or organizations, interviews people etc. They sent him across the channel to question both British pedestrians out on the street as well as some Brexit supporters who attended a speech. It's very, very funny, especially seeing all the Brits' reactions to that acclaimed sarcastic German humor ;)

Interesting hearing what you think about this. As a Brit living in Germany and living through Brexit from the other side, I can comment on the way that things happened here. Generally when people hear my accent speaking German, they know where I'm from and the majority of the more politically aware would say how sad it was to be losing what they saw as an equal country and the way that the UK government then treated the EU and the way they behaved as was joked about in the Heute Show was seen as childish and suprising that people running the country behaved like that. I also would love to have seen a show like that in the UK, but I don't think that it would make it onto the air, there aren't any channels who would air it and then the people who rule the public opinon (aka the likes of the Daily Mail/Express/Telegraph etc.) would go nuts about it and use the facts that are pointed out as lies and propaganda, and then published another story about Harry and Meghan to distract from it.
I doubt it, they lost all credibility and their supposed objectivity with the current government (and the previous PMs) They cancel shows that criticize the government or their plans or are too "left wing" - have a look at why they cancelled The Mash Report (something similar-ish to this, but not quite as "aggressive") a few years ago

You may not have noticed it, and maybe I was seeing (or rather, hearing) things. But I'm pretty sure they deliberately exaggerated the German accent of the "English teacher" as an hommage to "Telekolleg" which was [still is? does it still exist] a series of educational programmes in the 70s, inspired by the Open University courses on BBC2. "Ours" seemed to be aim more for the 10th grade level or so (GCSEs, what in Germany would be "Mittlere Reife"), which is why you could indeed get some beginner English lessons. Random irrelevant association: Another English teaching show on our "Dritten Programme" (roughly comparable to BBC4) was "Follow Me", and to this day I haven't figured out if their theme song, that had an irregular time signature, was "Living in the Past" by Jethro Tull [aHA! Scottish connection! 😀♥️) or not. It struck me as super interesting at the time, but I only got into JT much later.

Most europeans can distinguish between the British people and the British government. I feel sorry for the people who were against it and lost so much. At the same time I feel the politicians deserve that chaos they have created.
Brexit was the smartest thing they ever did. They saw it was a mistake and corrected it. The youngers did not know.

The sail boat is the "Gorch Fock", a historic marine ship used for training of new cadets.
But what if you had to replace every plank on the sailboat, is it still the same sailboat 🤔
@@connectingthedots100 pretty much. nothing wrong with commissioning a new sail boat, it will just be boat. not the historic Gorch Fock. plain and simple, really
@@uliwehner The Gorch Fock is from 1958. Not really historic imo. And for the costs you could have built three brandnew ones.
For the UK people in this chat, we should explain the desaster:
- The sailing ship Gorch Fock was originally built in 1958 for the costs of 8.5 Million D-Mark (roughly 4.3 million Euro, not considering inflation);
- In 2015, it was decided to work it over for an estimated total of 10 million Euro; given the history of the ship and the loss in purchasing power a reasonable price;
- In 2017 the estimated costs skyrocketed to 75 million Euro;
- A few months later, in March 2018, the estimated costs were already at 135 million euro;
- the wharf wich had taken the contract went bankrupt over this renovation;
- In September 2021 the restauration was completed and the ship was handed over again to the Bundesmarine for the costs of 135 million Euro.

The "Saarlafisten" joke referred to the salafi movement which gained some attention in germany a while ago. However radical they appeared to be it seems they kinda faded away into insignificance. And just in case some viewers need to hear it: We like British people very much, you are welcome here and we hope that we are still welcome in your country ☺️ We just brag about the Brexit itself, because it's honestly very chaotic and - in my opinion - a little bit unneccessary, so we want it to be over (but it's taking so long, thanks to British and EU politics). And while this was happening, the Secretary of Defence talked about the great idea to build a CV meanwhile they cant repair a 100y old sailing ship.

I think some of the jokes were so harsh because they were fueled by bitterness. Deep down even when Germans and other Europeans said they were just fed up with brexit taking so long and Britain should just get it over with everyone (at least the ones who support the EU) still wished they'd somehow change their minds about the whole thing.
I am a sucker for our comedy and satire... and being used to it the "Heute Show" is really mainstream and ... soft. rather simplified in contrast to "Die Anstalt" and tame compared to the solo programms of some political satirists. but I really apreciate it because it's a weekly show. it's a nice thing to watch on a friday evenening. and I'm surprised that the UK doesn't seem to have anything like it.

Sweden was an EU country that did have 15% of our total EU trade with the UK. We felt slightly betrayed by it. Big companies like Volvo and Kopparberg have now started to talk to the media about how much money they have lost as the result of Brexit.
I'd recommend that you react to John Oliver covering Brexit, which was shown in the US, but not in the UK.
wanted to do Erasmus in Scotland, but Englond took them down alongside themselves
10:24 That ship is the Gorch Fock, German Navy training ship. It's mentioned here because they made plans to renovate it - with the original cost estimate totally blown.
After they started renovations, they found a lot more problems with it - making the total renovation more expensive then a completely new build.
Inbetween, the company filed for bankrupcy. A total desaster on every level.

thanks for watching / reaction, and for beeing so calm :) greetings from germany ... and man... i wished we didnt have lost you, together united we would be an more stronger EU :))
Oliver Welke and Martina Hill (she did the English lesson) are legends in German comedy shows. Love this sense of humour and the sarcasm and criticism behind almost every single statement...
Austrian here :) I love the Heute Show. I always hoped to get at least Scotland back into the EU
love your channel!
Also, the subtitles didn't translate the last bit from the Italian woman, the "ciao stronzi!". It means "Bye, assholes!"
Also, also:
The german TV station ZDF is one of the stations funded by Germanys mandatory TV tax. The regular news show of the ZDF is called "heute" (meaning "today"), and airs daily at 7 p.m.
The "heute show" airs weekly, fridays at 10:30 p.m.
His accent reminds me of the film "Trainspotting" ! I watched it several times in German, then i decided to watch it in the original scottish-english, i barely understood a sentence.
No, we dont think Brits look like the guy at the beginning, its just a parody. Germans dont run around with Picklehaube helmets either, but are often depicted like that in sensationalist British newspapers. A stereotypical Brit would be someone with either pale skin oder a bright red sunburn ;). Actually if i had to picture typical Brits, i think of Rowan Atkinson and John Cleese, i guess they formed my expectations.
You forgot to mention that a typical Brit gets sunburn in the shadow.
@@rainerziehtkatapultenachgo9001 Ease on down tiger, i've seen plenty of sunburnt, beer bellied Germans.
@@Buckets1000 you’ll be a bog ape then.
@@Bertie22222 I know, but the question was how we imagine Brits. Also, you forgot tennis socks and sandals in your summary.
@@rainerziehtkatapultenachgo9001 I wasn't summarising Germans, i was saying that i have seen fat, sunburnt, badly dressed Germans too. The difference is that the Brits are demonised if we generalise about Europeans but the other way around is acceptable.
Well... That picture in beginning is kind of stereotypical for the english people you meet on vacation. Only thing missing is the sunburn😅
Don't worry this is not the typical british stereotype which comes to my mind
Lovin’ the way you enjoy those videos. Yes, this show has been on for quite a few years now, it’s real fun and very German indeed. Yes, we’re not that subtle, true… 😂
The funniest thing I saw,was the german comedian bringing brexit care-packages to the UK,perhaps someone in the cs could help out with more details, please

@@MitmachGaming yes,thanks!!!
I have to find a way to pass this to Oliver Welke (host of the „Heute Show“) 😂 This eulogy on his work is hillarious!
As a German, I'm not sure German comedians are more direct than British comedians. Like, we've got NOBODY on the level of Jimmy Carr :D
One of the strengths of British "stand-up" comedians like Jimmy Carr is their repartee. They encourage audience members to heckle and come back with fast responses (etwa: eine Schlagfertigkeitsprüfung vor gesammelter Mannschaft).
As a German myself I find it very amusing that the same German news shows that are upset about German politics taking ages are also upset about the Brexit taking long.

I love your reaction videos. And I´m so happy to see people from all over the world (even in Scotland) who are brothers in mind. Get rid of England and go for the Scotch independence! Slàinte Mhath!
If you're into the Brexit videos from the Heute Show, I highly recommend checking out the one titled "Brexit: Lutz van der Horst verkauft den Briten Schmuggelware | heute-show vom 11.10.2019" (-> Brexit: Lutz van der Horst sells smuggled wares to the British). Lutz is one of their "outside reporters", who goes out on the streets, visits rallies or protests, gatherings or organizations, interviews people etc. They sent him across the channel to question both British pedestrians out on the street as well as some Brexit supporters who attended a speech. It's very, very funny, especially seeing all the Brits' reactions to that acclaimed sarcastic German humor ;)
for my family and me its a tradition since years: watching „Heute Show“ every saturday morning at breakfast. sometimes we get stuck in our throats for laughing. sometimes you can't believe the absurdity that daily and world politics brings out again.
in every respect, our absolute favorite show on television!
Of course you love it. Predictable and harmless. Eating and drinking while having your preferred prejudices confirmed.. 🥱🥱

the Show "Die Anstalt" is a satire show sometimes like a musical and very informativ.
the woman playing tina hausten at the end (martina hill) is actually one of the best female comedy actresses we have in germany. she is rly good
Super. Danke. From a Dsherman living in London.
The funniest thing is that Oliver Welke, the host of the "heute Show", was the voice of David Walliams in the German version of "Little Britain."
I have lived in the Uk for 20 years and have just re-discovered my German satirical roots. Yes, Britain needs hard-hitting political comedy!!!
I really enjoy your content and how you have commented or direct satire
I can really recommend you another amazingly German Satire named “extra 3” and would like to see you reacting to it. Extra3 and the Heute Show are both capable of turning Weltschmerz into Schadenfreude. 😊
Heute Show And Extra3 are the best. Thank you Britans for giving us Public legal Media, where this shows are on Air. ;)
The BBC wouldn't air something like this?
I doubt it, they lost all credibility and their supposed objectivity with the current government (and the previous PMs) They cancel shows that criticize the government or their plans or are too "left wing" - have a look at why they cancelled The Mash Report (something similar-ish to this, but not quite as "aggressive") a few years ago
just found you a few days ago, your english remember me my last weekend in scotland, dont anderstand a word but after a few whiskies everything was good, thank you very much
You may not have noticed it, and maybe I was seeing (or rather, hearing) things.
