I don't think Kirby has much of any plot armour at all, he's just so strong that every game is really easy for him (even the final bosses which are ethereal beings half the time)

Link used his shield tho and not the master sword. If only he used the sword, as we know it can somewhat absorb light to get stronger and repair itself. He probably could have just absorbed part of the light. Well in the end he still got BEAM attacked
Link actually blocked the light three times one before he attacks with the master sword and two after

The fact that Palu’s Reflect can’t Block the Beam but Link’s Hylian Shield(Which Has Durability in BOTW) blocked it without breaking
Well to be fair, Palutena isn't very powerful, not by goddess standards. Pit himself is a one man army that does most of her work for her. I'm not surprised really... and the Hylian Shield is also nearly indestructible. :P

Marvelous work on this Beam Attack-themed edit of the World of Light opening sequence! I especially like how you edited Failboat's voice samples and included an instrumental version of Il Vento D'oro! Because, if Waddle Doo got himself a Stand Arrow, his Beam Attack would definitely become as powerful as a Requiem Stand.

Nah, Kirby is most likely one of the strongest... Simply because he is able to copy the abilities of others. If he faces a powerful foe he can in theory copy their ability making him just as strong if not more so.

Not really, if you understand Kirby lore and the design process they used. :P
Kirby is super powerful, and the only reason he was able to escape is because the warp star is a magical vehicle that can travel between worlds.
And when developing the game, they considered Palutena or Bayonetta as well because they are also beings with god-like power. They chose Kirby because he's designed to be the most beginner friendly character, with simplistic moves and forgiving number of jumps, and his neutral special even letting you test out other character's abilities. He's basically perfect for the starting tutorial character for newcomers to the series.
