I dont even watch bridgerton, but i hope Penelope's season is all about her living her best life and leaving Collin behind right as he realizes he's in love with her. I want her to have suitors lined up at the door, while Collin desperately tries to get in. As someone who has always been fat, that would be healing to my soul. I want that power dynamic flipped like a pancake.
Unfortunately that's not how it worked out whatsoever 😂 girl only had one guy interested in her, and then literally the second that Colin confesses he likes her she's like "omg finally yes me too" and they start with the sexy-time within 20 seconds. Very underwhelming and rushed. Would've been fine if she'd rejected him at least once and then he had to fight for her, but all the man had to say was that he fancies her now😑
I'm not a big fan of the book either, I gave it a generous 3 stars, but the weight Penelope lost was over the course of 10 years. If I remember correctly, she basically said she lost her "baby weight" so she's still plump she just slimmed down a little from when she was younger. Also Colin started to notice her because Penelope started to be her true self around him. Since she was a spinster her mother stopped picking her clothes so she wore dresses that were more flattering on her body and to her complexation. She also started to speak out more because she wasn't trying to impress anyone because she knew they wouldn't marry her anyway. I'm not defending the book. But Colin starting to fall in love was more than just Penelope losing weight.
I personally love S3 part 1. Colin is way better, imo, he had so much weird, angry energy in the books that the actor managed to translate into a toned down, hot desperation. Also, imho, the emphasis/centering in the show of female pleasure is not in the books, which definitely disappointed me. And i read the book looking for a scene with a mirror and chekovs sex never came... oh! In an interview, nicola said there is a scene in part 2 that she specifically asked to be more naked in as an f*** u to body shamers and so when she was 80 she could look back at her hot bod lol.
The 3rd season of briderton was meh. glad to see you read the book and eager to hear your thoughts on it. i did not read it but I heard stuff. edit: salmon! 🍣 also I feel like in the show he was being the same way? lusting after her after they kissed. the best part of the show tho was lord debling. he was cool and she should've ended up with him tbh.
While the third season wasn't bad, it wasn't really what we were promised in my opinion. Very, very mild spoiler: I was so hyped to see all these men fall for Pen after the glow up, making Colin jealous but that didn't really happen...
I haven't read any of the books, only the summaries and some reviews. Is it not because the main part of the Pen/Colin book is actually about Lady Whistledown being revealed to all of the characters as opposed to the romance? Because then it would make sense why the romance was so rushed, because the rest of the season is focused on Pen's reveal, but I agree they still could have given Pen more than one dull love interest, Francesca's had several so far and it's not even her season lmao
