@@ltzdetailz6834 I believe the wiring is the fix the dealer did from the recall and switching out the relay would just be simple as taking it loose and putting new one in.
My 2013 Overland had the same problem in 2017 and now 4 years later, same thing. The local Jeep dealership said that they get 1 part per week and 4 weeks later they haven't called me. So thanks to this video, I ordered it through Amazon, easy replacement and voila ---problem fixed! Good for another 4 years unless I decide to sell. Thank you so very much!
I have the same vehicle 2013 Overland. I have called every dealership and they are saying the same thing I been waiting for a month, and no one has called me back. I ordered the part on Monday should be here tomorrow praying it works because not having a working vehicle is horrible. You gave me hope when I saw your comment.
@@tatumgrant8403 I promise you it will, just take extra care about the little bracket make sure you get that on correctly so it doesn’t fall down into the engine. There’s a little tab that will keep the bracket from slipping off of the part just make sure that you get that correct and you should be good to go.

Well, it's late December 2019, and Chrysler just issued ANOTHER Federal Safety Recall (V62) on this identical problem ... for over a half-million Jeeps and other vehicles. THANKS for your solution ! I've had intermittent starting issues, and this cheap part, which I just ordered from your link, will be my insurance policy until Chrysler gets its act together and has the parts available to perform the federal Safety Recall.
Mechanic wanted 980$ to fix my Cherokee..... He had not even started the work (thankfully) when I watched this yesterday.... Took my spare key with me unlocked Jeep popped hood swap relay and drove home 😂. I not even tell him i picked the Jeep up he has not even called to say its not there...... Seeing how long it takes him before I call out either A his scamming butt or B his lack of expertise.......

I feel your wallet.... Ive had to replace entire coolant system, had whole upper engine repair because of a lifter failure (4700$) but they replaced everything while they where in there and re sealed everything very well, I even bought a aftermarket Cam that sounds so good with the HEMI (only good thing about Hemi I can say though 😂) then this Fuel Filter Relay issue, I also am had to have some power steering components replaced....and suspension replaced (suspension was by choice 1 strut went out but I replaced them all 4 as to hopefully age equally ) ... My wife told me to sell it but since I did all that (about 9k total) the Jeep runs freaking amazing and still only has 120k man a lot of shyt broke in that 120k . But what a pain in the ass the last 3 years has been plus expensive. Its runs fantastic now though, Crazy thing is my wife has the exact same Jeep. 2014 Grand Cherokee but hers is the V6..... She has never had 1 thing break on her car but a seatbelt buckle..... Its crazy how shit the Hemi is vs the V6.
I actually removed the whole tank to put a new pump and this was the real fix. Put a new relay and boom , fuel went to the engine and it started just fine
Ma Man, you are a genius. Just replaced the relay, and car is running again. As you said, Jeep had bypassed the faulty relay the cheap way. Called dealer twice since November, was told, they did not have the part, to resolved the issue, and did not offer to replace the bypass relay. What a scam. smh

I have a 2011 Grand Cherokee. After not driving the car for week it started briefly and then died. Upon attempting to restart it, the starter just spun but there was no ignition. I checked out RUclips and found a few videos talking about the TIPM and the associated problems, I checked the 20 amp fuse in the TIPM and it was good, so I figured I was going to be out a few hundred dollars at the dealership getting this sorted. Well, I stumbled across this video and lo behold, my car had the same external device attached (it seems some sort of recall had been done). I checked the fuse on the device itself, and it was bad. I pulled the unused 20 amp fuse from the TIPM and swapped it in and all was fixed. So, I was able to fix it for $0 thanks to this video. @theGALLEON - you rock!!!
Could this cause the engine to die, as well as the lights?? My fog lights stayed on, so I'm pretty sure the battery wasn't the cause, and it starts up or starts up after ten minutes or so, but doesn't start right away, but cranks.. could a bad fuel pump cause the engine and lights and everything to die suddenly?
Hey, my 2012 jeep grand Cherokee 3.6 won't engage. So far changed the bad starter and fuel pump relay, the fuel pump runs when jumping from 87 to 30 on the relay, this fuse trick didn't work either..... time for a pcm?
So this is the fix if the TIPM has already been upgraded, otherwise you will need to know how to do the upgrade to add the external relay and wire harness for the very first time, thanks for the video.
My 2013 Jeep grand Cherokee Laredo in July was hesitant to shut off, a couple weeks go by, it starts for a few seconds and stalls but will start the second time with no hesitation. Nothing happens until a couple months go by and the car stalls. I replaced the push button, a couple of weeks go by and the new push button solution didn’t work. I interested the key fob for a couple of weeks and had no problems starting the vehicle. I go back to the push button and it works for four months until it recently started doing it again, this time In consecutive days, I’m researching online folks say it could be wireless control module (complete new key ignition module) it could be dirty fuel injectors, it could be fuel pump, or recall relay fuse..I bought fuel injector cleaner and started my Jeep today and it started up no problems but I have a feeling this didn’t fix the original problem. So with this video I ordered a new fuse relay in hopes that since it’s been 3-4 years since the recall was implemented on the fuel relay that this 30 dollar part does the job. If not, I suspect fuel pump is going bad.
I instead got an actual fuel injector cleaning. That 4 month duration of no stalling I had prior i had used seam foam in the fuel tank and had no issues. Recently, A few weeks ago when I put fuel injector cleaning in the tank it didn’t stall. So with that it lead me to get fuel injector cleaning. So far so good but I still have the fuel relay fuse ready if needed.
Only problem is those external wiring relay connectors go bad also. My daughters 2011 Jeep had that external relay put on as a recall in 2014 and the warranty is only good for two years. Now the dealer is saying the wiring harness connectors are lose and bad and needs to be replaced but can't find the part anywhere so they trying to charge her for the whole new fuse box assembly.
Okay, so oddly enough, I have one of these in my jeep, but it's not connected to anything. There's another relay mounted beside it, same brand. Not sure what to do. My jeep is a 2013 jeep grand Cherokee laredo
They did ANOTHER recall for this problem (the problem they caused, ironically). So if you took your car into the dealer in the last 1.5 years they may have done the fix to the fix already.
@@thegalleon1390 Yup, mine has the 2nd fix , the relay is different from the Omnicron you show and the new one is unmarked but made in china. It lasted a coupla years and the sudden stall returned. I took it apart, cleaned the contacts and it held a coupla more years. It stalled once a year ago then has been ok until today....it stalled. If it stalls again soon, I'll clean the contacts again. If not, it may go another year. For comparison, my 246k Olds Bravada I bought new turned 30yrs. old last month....still has the original fuel pump relay and never stalled except when the fuel pump failed....I replaced it and all is well.
Does the check engine light come on when this relay goes bad? 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee 5.7 WITH recall fix external realy and check engine light came on yesterday on the way home from work. This morning I got the crank but no start. Also sounded like the fuel pump was still running.

Possibly. I'm not sure. Just pop the hood and see if you have this same thing installed. If you do and it's been more than 3 years, it could make sense to change it out. It's a cheap part and doesn't take long at all to install. Then at least you will know.

My '88 Cherokee has a fuel pump ballast resistor. Pull one of the wires loose and presto! The engine stalls. Great place for a kill switch.

I dont remember disconnecting the battery for this but it never hurts to do it.

No. Bad relays have nothing to do with the engine light. Your engine light is on now for something else.
Well, I swapped out the relay and that ended the problem. No engine light. Starts and runs great and has for months since then.
