One thing I believe is understated in this video is how bad Rosell and Bartomeu management was.. First, Rosell kicked Cruyff from his honorary president position due to personal disagreements. His exit as well as Begiristain's played a huge role in Guardiola's departure. He also renamed Barça Atlètic to "Barça B", and made the agreements with Qatar. Although Barça was relatively fine economically, all these changes put a huge dent in the club's identity.. and then came the Neymar scandal which made Rosell resign Bartomeu was also involved in the Neymar transfer scandal, but managed to keep a low profile and got elected. One of his biggest fails was trying to re-negotiate the agreement with Qatar to get more money from them.. but it resulted in the opposite. The agreement with Rakuten was Pique's doing for the most part. Then disaster struck with all his bad transfers (Coutinho, Dembele, Griezmann) and the BarçaGate It's crazy to believe that the club didn't collapse earlier thanks to the raw talent of its players.. Such a great club I loved Johann Cruyff. It's so sad seeing old European legacy clubs fall on hard times. Red Star, Bordeaux, Lyon, Deportivo la Coruna, Ajax, Aston Villa, Rangers, and Hamburg, and that is without mentioning teams like Dynamo Kiev, Zenit Saint Petersburg, and Panathinaikos, or Ferencvárosi TC and my personal favourite Djurgården.
Thank you. I’ve been a Barça fan since 2003. I love this club. But I am not delusional either. FDJ deferred his wages and now they are beginning to have to cough it up. Yes the man is injured. Yes the player has been questionable throughout the years in his gameplay. But how does it look like when we sign a player and then later on expect them to cut their wages when we don’t want to pay him anymore because of our own board’s decision making. Fuck the board. Do something about them. Pay FDJ. Stop bitching. Stop signing players for these ridiculous prices and offering ridiculous contracts. Easier said than done I know. In order to compete we need to buy great players. But the last couple of years we finally have been focusing more on La masia. What we should have been doing since neymar left and be wiser with the money

Why belittle everything Laporta has achieved and say we might be broke again in few years? We have a squad for the next 10 years and a grand stadium to help financially!! 5. I would like to leave my thought's as a more or less impartial viewer because I think you took the video in more negatively than it was supposed to be: 1. I think he conveyed the fact that Laporte is slowly rebuilding really well. Of course he still needs to mention the existance of an opposition and talk about the potential harm of the financial steps taken. 2. It's a video about Barcelona and not about Real Madrid... 3. I can't really comment on this issue but I would guess that he just focused on the chaotic environment as a part on the issue because thats the focus point of the video. 4. He didn't belittle the financial steps of Laporte. For me it came across quite clearly that these steps were necessary (maybe even unavoidable) but you don't have to be a financial genius to understand that the deals sacriface some long term financial strenght for this short term gain and even if it is the right call (which seems likely but we can't be sure till we look back on it in some years) he still has to talk about the potential downside. 5. This came across in the video. No one ever doubted the fact that Barcelona is a cultural and athletic powerhouse and it wasn't called into question in the video at any point. He made a really interesting an in-depht video about both the clubs successes and the clubs shortcomings. I think he did a great job of conveying the important information and of course he mentioned the struggles aswell. So if you want a video just talking about all the good parts of the club while blindly ignoring everything else because you just don't want to hear it, you should maybe just search elsewhere.
Laporte surfed the Messi wave and even back when Barca was dominant with Pep, Sergio, Xavi, Ini, Messi and the likes.. It was never LAPORTE's work All he did is ruin the club time and time again

They both were overpriced as they haven't won anything substantial to prove the huge fee and even if you wanted to pay it should be like 60M + clauses. If clauses get complete then pay the rest of money
Cruyff was amazing. Pure on his football skills, he is one of the greatest. But if you take into his account what he did as a coach, he is the nr 1 footballer of all time. Hands down.
Great story telling! Didn't think I'd watch the entire video but i was captivated.
Brilliant video, so interesting how barca consistently flow from triumph to disaster and back again
That’s the worst part of being a Barça fan while the base team may be doing well or not, the actual problem is the core of the club and that isn’t as easy to change compared to the base team
A 47 min video from Football Iconic! I must be dreaming❤
Thank you for the great content, Bru. 🇿🇦
your absolute best video so far! I live in Barcelona and just started getting into football. This video helped me understand the history of the club so much better! Keep´em coming and please do other clubs too!
It's may be the longest, but I also watched it with the outmost attention. thumbs up!
30:43 Come on, it's Marca, the Real mouthpiece. Asking them about Barca rumours is like asking The Sun about it's opinions of Liverpool fans in Hillsborough
Using indistinguishable instead imcomparable was a strange choice there.
I like how you're one of the few English speaking non-Barca supporters that actually say the stadium's name right. I know you're South African, but many English people say "The Noo Camp" instead of "Camp Nou'. It's like saying "Trafford Old"
I know people who think it actually is the “new camp” 😂😂😂
I always just say Camp Nou, and I'm an American. Nou Camp would be direct translation into New Field, but that's not really how Spanish, Catalan, and some other languages work
Tbh. Cruijff is a absolute legend. Even me being a half dutch guy who's heart is with Feyenoord, Cruijff is dutch history. Cruijff is the reason why football has drasticly grown.
Cruijff will be my absolute hero and GOAT.
Video so cold I was getting annoyed when the ads were interupting. My guy!
How many times will Laporta save our ass, Messi came along with him and now Lamine, love the guy
Dude. The way you articulate things ✊ second to none😅
Love this video. It's very thorough and informative!😊
I yearn for the day to see Messi back at Camp Nou, a farewell is long overdue.
1+ billion debt is too large, for me Loparta is doing a fantastic to keep club's legacy active at highest levels all while facing multiple challenges.
Culers & Catalans just hate Real Madrid & want their club that was on verge of closure/sale to compete over Real Madrid's achievements.
i just wanna see these guys lift a champions league trophy man
never seen Barca lift it since I first started watching them.
When did you start supporting Barcelona?
@@Royale0055 16/17 season right after Xavi’s departure season
@@ghostlucas7 damnit so you missed our golden Era of 2006-2015, that's sad. I've been supporting them since 95, don't worry We'll get at least 2 UCLs in like the next 6 years once this team sets up fully
I think it’s time you look at old highlights and replays of us winning trebles cuz it’s gonna be long before we win something substantial.
Great video as always, thoroughly enjoyed
Im not a conspiracy theorist but it's actually kind of funny/ spooky that literally the day after Barcelona do some really great business that a bunch of channels drop " Barcelona are bad at business/ are run terribly videos" The day after
Paid off by the deep state
and fanboys crying like the club feeds them
@@qBodi please construct 1 coherent sentence because I don't know what you're trying to say
@@dishantithomas4198 "you re a crying fanboy"
@@FootballIconicI knew it! You are working for Perez. Coward!
loved the longer form video keep em up brother💚💚💚
I always dislike that a lot of Barcas achievements were possible due to a serious case of "well we pay later". I don't like Clubs that overspend that much and pretty much bent the rules or down right brake them to be succesful. Or if they have an advantage due to shady shananigans (Bayern Munich), i prefer clubs like Werder in the Lemke (RIP you great man) era or Freiburg, who had some very creative ways to get where they are/were.
Please make a video on Liverpool on how they were on the verge of administration in 2010 to where they are now, competing at the top and about to turn over £700m in revenue.
Thanks tanashe i literally commented about this some time ago to make video about of Barcelona
thanks for this video, i have a better understanding now. I've always wondered how did they get in so much debt, makes sense now
You know my day goes good when you upload
Awesome video bro. Great piece. Keep it up💯
Man, the consistency is insane
If Laporta saves Barcelona that's going to be the biggest Barca comeback since Paris 2017
Such a great club I loved Johann Cruyff. It's so sad seeing old European legacy clubs fall on hard times. Red Star, Bordeaux, Lyon, Deportivo la Coruna, Ajax, Aston Villa, Rangers, and Hamburg, and that is without mentioning teams like Dynamo Kiev, Zenit Saint Petersburg, and Panathinaikos, or Ferencvárosi TC and my personal favourite Djurgården.
great video. keep up the good work.
Amazing video! Loved this one mate!
just commenting for the algo. amazing job, thank you so much
Unreal video bro! 👏 👏
You cooked on this one
Great content and research! Thank you!
This was a greta video. It captivated me from start to finish. I know that I sound like a bot, but this was seriously a good ass videos 😂🙏🏿
great insights! i didn't know about the orgy, i won't forget it though! :)
Wow. Really appreciate such content.
Johan Cruyff signed for a record breaking 2 million is just insane how has inflation hit so hard.
100x in 50 years is not that bad.
Great video mate 👍
We need a Netflix series about this team. Wow! just wow!
Kudos to those heads trying to keep this club alive
If Barcelona is mismanaged then what does that make Manchester United 🤔
Even worse. Both can be true at the same time
I would say in the last 3 years barca have been managed better than man united. Better sporting success. And less "dumb" transfers. @@FootballIconic
@@lunarphoenix1011 wich doesnt make it good management, just better than the shitshow that is united, both trash though
@@Bisstoro going from -140 million salary cap to +440 million in 2 years without playing in your main stadium and also still having a competitive team is very good management. Whether you want to admit it or not.
Mismanaged but not currently under indictment for bribing the second in command of the Spanish referee association.
Great Video!
This video was awesome. Nice job!
Also, "traditional values" is hilarious lol
idk why but maqwell and football iconic dropping videos about my club both on friday the 13th is a good sign for me
Insightful video
In a nutshell: Barca is still strong because of their fans ,and the influence of Cruyff. Everything else is just constant fluctuating between terrible, bad good and occasionally great.
55 goals scored in 16 games so far. The best goal scoring record in the club history. Hansi Flick's Barcelona is running wild. And that happen under the goat of Barcelona president Joan Laporta
Great video. Would love to see one on Bayern Munich. They seem like such a well run organisation.
The annoying thing with Barca is despite the largely terrible running of the club, Yamal and the rest of the recent La Masia graduates might end up being so good that it gets them out of trouble lol
It's the history of the Tottenham, I mean Barcelona !
1. Laporta is the only reason our club aren't sold to Saudi by Font and is slowly rebuilding our club
2. Why drag Laporta as the one proposing the Super League and leave out Perez??
3. Pep didn't leave Barca because Madrid were topping the table. He left because he was eaten alive by Spanish media
4. Why belittle everything Laporta has achieved and say we might be broke again in few years? We have a squad for the next 10 years and a grand stadium to help financially!!
5. The "financial suffering years" you stated didn't make us anything less than a global powerhouse of an institution.
Even admist the disaster we were pulling world class players and registering them!!
I feel I both praised and critiqued Laporta? The best ever for a reason. Never said Barca were less of a fantastic institution
@@FootballIconic As an avid watcher of your videos and with all due respect, from the perspective of a culer, it felt nothing like praising Laporta.
And please don't ever mention Laporta and Bartomeu in one bracket.
Yes we didn't like the gaslighting part of being able to buy Nico this summer but the man's positives strike out every single negative.
@@johnprashanth27 Chill man, it’s just a critique. He certainly didn’t mean to shame Laporta or undermine everything he has done for the club, but that Laporta had and still has certain flaws is pretty clear for everyone to see.
El cule con mas autocritica:
I would like to leave my thought's as a more or less impartial viewer because I think you took the video in more negatively than it was supposed to be:
It was never LAPORTE's work
All he did is ruin the club time and time again
The opposite of F. Pérez
Iconic video about my club
It sad Barcelona was at it peak with players like Ronaldinho, Messi,Neymar,Xavi, Etoo, Suarez , Henry and ither great players one of the great football powerhouse in Europe
Can you make a video about the Negreira case, involving Barcelona?
also russel was anything but traditional, many la masia coaches left during his tenure
11:06 That's not the Hesperia hotel in which the mutiny happened. That one in the pictures was built in the 2000s
Correction Josep Senol was killed during the Spanish civil war because he went by mistake to the wrong side and it was killed for that reason , not because he was the president of the FCB.
Learning finance and history
Very informative video
why people talk like pedri came from lamasia when in fact he was signed from Las Palmas on 2nd of september 2019
barcelona are like that one guy who knows he has exams and should study but doesn't poor life decisions and addicted to games unhealthy childish but always always find a way to succeed
