Applying SLA 3D Printing Technology to Investment Casting with UnionTech

Quick Casting is a new technology, which combines the Rapid Prototyping (RP) and Investment Casting. SLA (Stereo Lithography Apparatus) as one of the RP technology is introduced into the Investment casting process to produce the prototype, which can lead to a rapid casting.

While this is interesting and has applications for one-off production I can't help but feel that traditional casting methods would work better for something as simple as an impeller like this. I would love to see more complex geometries that take advantage of the strengths of 3-d printing, shapes that would be impossible with traditional mold making.

using a regular casing form would be tricky for turbine shaped propellers as the wall thickness could pull away heat way to fast from the liquid metal and at the cost of stress fractures forming you can't risk building turbine blades like that as it's too inconsistent for high RPM parts, I could be wrong idk.

Thanks for the video, can i ask what the purpose of the powder at 4:14 is? i've seen it in another video also, does it protect the cast's integrity entirely or is it just the surface? i think that part is removed later so i can't see why we care about the surface
