- The much delayed Hema Committee Report has made official - it has caused a massive earthquake in the Malayalam Film Industry - with cases being registered and tons of resignations. What many had known for years is now official.
Set up after the shocking case of sexual assault in Malayalam Cinema - the Hema Committee Report has shown that systematic change is possible if people don't give up on the pressure. This is a win for Kerala - also a warning to Bollywood that a similar expose could happen there as well.

Seeing lot of comments mocking Kerala - asking how could this happen in such an 'educated' state
Well the fact that a probe was pushed though - in investigation done by a retired justice - that the report came out causing an earthquake - was also possible in an 'educated' state. try getting this done in Maharashtra for Bollywood.... challenge. :)

If Kerala movie industry, which is educated and progressive, came out as this dirty and patriarchal ,we can't even think about other regional movie industry in India . 😮😮
Absolute power corrupts absolutely
That they can not treat another gender with grace and respect shows that they are far from being educated . They are muddle head hence behave like sexual terrorists. A robbers steals at night under no body's eye. These guys have the audacity to ask outright or force themself and they have consent from their fellow peers - 7 of the 15 EC members who are close to each other in age and thus contemporaries are the people whose names are out as sexual predators. Isnt that a shame . The Lynch pin of Sexual assault in Hindi Cinema is the doyen of Hindi Cinema - Raj Kapoor. Almost 75% of the industry are predatory because they know they are above the law and as celebrities they can escape the law
Patriarchy is natural no matter what it can be seen in every life forms
Because they are educated and progressive ,such things are coming out. Do you thibk other industries are saints?
Patriarchy is no easy thing to get rid of its how our society is built but ...what happened inside the industry is no patriarchy it's pure exploitation mainly sexual...the sad truth is even the mothers of some actresses acted as a pimp..like " U SHOULD ADJUST A BIT FOR A BETTER FUTURE"🤦

No, we in KERALA do not consider our actors or any celebrities as Gods.... They are mere humans....
Come on, A10 and Ikka are none less than gods to their fans. Let us not get deluded by the narrative that we are smarter than the rest of the country. Take it from me, we’re not.
We love their acting..and its shocking for us like jayasurya ,we think he is a nice man nice personality with social commitment but when this pointed out that he is one of them..we think everyone who is included get punished.if it is mohanlal or mammoth.they are not gods.and we never build temples for them.if any one build in their heart it should be demolished.

Really ? Malayali youth worship them and call them "ettan "and "ikka" . And these apparent big brothers stay silent whem they are expected to speak. What did Mohanlal do , runaway ?This hypocrisy is we malayalis are all all about. Kerala have always celebrated their hyper masculine bravado and they ruled as kings especially in the 90s when these stars adorned the role of fuedal incarnates . The cutout culture the malayalis like to mock Tamil and Telugu fans about was as prevalent here as anywhere.
There's nothing to be proud of here and flex about. Every top actors are facing allegation left and right. It has ousted great actors like Tilakan who had the guts to call the indusry as run by "mafias".
This flexing and fake pride don't take anyone anywhere. What are you trying to project ? That we are better than the rest ?

They should fully investigate the Telugu film industry as that is the most patriarchal industry to ever exist as you can say by the extreme objectification of women in most of their movies.

Bhavana , Parvathy Thiruvothu , Rima Kallingal and many more.. The reformers of Malayalam cinema industry! How they walked off ths patriarchal actors' association A.M.M.A, it was powerful and inspiring. People used to refer to this association as "Amma" (means mother in Malayalam). It was Parvathy who boldly and clearly said it wasn't "Amma", it's just A.M.M.A

From കേരളം
I've been following this story from the beginning, and as a Malayalee, I'd like to share some insights that might not be widely known.
Starting with Manju Warrier, who is Dileep's ex-wife, years ago I read an interview with her in a women's magazine where she explained the circumstances of her marriage to Dileep. She mentioned that they were just friends at first, but under extreme circumstances, they felt they had no other option but to get married. Now that I think about it, Dileep trapped Manju in a situation where she had no other option but to marry him. At that time, I had no idea what was going on in their lives or any underlying issues. They seemed happily married, and Manju appeared content with her role as a housewife. In the interview, she talked about her life choices and why she chose to be a homemaker rather than continuing her acting career.
Manju was a popular actress at the time of their marriage, but Dileep convinced her to stop working and focus on being a full-time homemaker, suggesting that one of them needed to stay home. As a result, she gave up her thriving career in the film industry. During their marriage, she didn't act in any films. A few years later, when their child was old enough, she received an offer to perform at a temple event, but Dileep did everything in his power to prevent this from happening because he didn't want her to re-enter show business. Despite his efforts, the event went ahead, and tensions between them began to rise.
By this time, Dileep was already having an affair with Kavya Madhavan. Not long after Dileep and Manju divorced, Dileep married Kavya, which confirmed the rumors of their affair, even though both had denied it earlier. After the divorce, Manju received numerous acting offers, which Dileep allegedly tried to sabotage using his industry connections. A few years later, Dileep was arrested in connection with a serious criminal case, but surprisingly, Manju defended him, saying she believed he was being framed. She even testified in court on his behalf.
When the case was in court, there were hundreds of witnesses, including some actors who were close to the victim and others who were best friends with her within the industry. However, many of these witnesses changed their statements in court, likely out of fear. It remains unclear how Dileep managed to orchestrate this, but the case continues to drag on largely because of these altered testimonies.
Another significant issue involving Dileep began with director Thulasidas. Thulasidas had planned to make a film with Dileep and had received the full payment after signing all the necessary documents and contracts. However, Dileep delayed the shoot. Thulasidas then went to the Producers' and Directors' Associations to file a complaint. The association's leader at the time was another director, Vinayan. Vinayan tried to resolve the issue, but Dileep, instead of cooperating, started a new association, effectively dismantling the existing one, and sought revenge on Vinayan.
Unofficially, Dileep imposed a ban on Vinayan within the Malayalam film industry, which meant that no actors were supposed to work in Vinayan's films. This ban was not documented but was enforced through word of mouth. At the time, Vinayan was planning a movie with one of Malayalam cinema's most respected actors, Thilakan, who had already committed to the project. Thilakan, an award-winning and veteran actor, was warned that if he worked with Vinayan, he too would be banned from the industry. Despite the threats, Thilakan, who is to Malayalam cinema what Amitabh Bachchan is to Bollywood, stood his ground. He had already received an advance for the film and signed the contract, so he decided to go ahead with the project.
In response, Dileep extended the unofficial ban to Thilakan as well. This was unprecedented for an actor of Thilakan's stature, showing just how powerful Dileep had become in the industry.
I have so much more to say about Dileep, but he's a criminal mastermind, and I recognize the limitations in fully exposing his actions. Despite everything, he continues to thrive in the Malayalam film industry, making movies and earning profits from platforms like Disney Plus and others. However, there is a significant portion of the population that stands against Dileep and condemns his actions, calling him out for what he has done. This collective opposition gives us hope. The HEMA committee report and subsequent events are further encouraging signs that change is possible. Even the most powerful criminal masterminds can fall, and nothing is forever.
Last line was terrific. Are you ready for 2 mins candle March or to bring changes in the society😊. It is true and painful, if they start this committee in Bollywood no actors will be left.

Kerala is progressive enough to bring such issues to light.
Despite being one of the megastars in the Malayalam film industry, Mammootty has remained silent about the Hema Commission report, which is quite disappointing. As one of the youngest and most prominent actors in the industry, it's surprising that he has been avoiding the media. Since the release of the Hema Commission report, Mammootty seems to have disappeared from the Malayalam film scene. He has even postponed the release of his new movie and is reportedly staying in Dubai or somewhere else. Some say that the decision for the team to resign from the AMMA association was also influenced by Mammootty. Yet, the media seems to focus only on Mohanlal and his responsibilities in the industry, without questioning Mammootty's absence. It's a shame that no one is discussing his lack of presence in Kerala.

Kerela is a progressive state which is the reason why it tasted success. I have no confidence that such movements can be replicated in bollywood. Because the entire industry is based on funds from people seeking to launder money. Criminality is their core.
Not only in Malayalam cinema, it happens in entire film world in India, but, get suppressed.

The people of Kerala exhibit remarkable bravery. It is certain that various other film industries in India have encountered numerous issues, perhaps even more severe than those in Kerala, yet they have remained silent. It is time for women to demonstrate courage and take action to purify our Indian film industry.
