Big Kudos to this guy and Patron Ken for being so generous there in Seattle and taking care of Malin & Yohan, ..one only has to follow their awesome sailing and travel videos to appreciate how humble they both seem to be and what a quality product they put on here documenting their sailing and passage making for us all to enjoy.
Thanks to the Patrons of RAN who are always reaching out and taking Such good care of Marlin and Johan! It it so heartwarming to see the kindness of people as you two travel the world! Safe Journey!
You are the best EU saling Chanel in the World . Respect for the way you film and all the thinks you can learn from your episodes . Looking forward were iT brings you the coming years 👍🏻
Johan and Malin, Have been a subscriber for a year now. I am a former cruising sailor, age 76 now and in no shape to meet the physical challenges you two face. Thanks for inviting us aboard each week and sharing you wonderful experiences and challenges. Wish you continued success with your refit projects and smooth sailing when you cast off. Mike Lonneke Round Hill, VA USA
Thanks for watching Mike! Feels great to have you along, and we're so happy if we can bring the cruising life back into your life in someway... Cheers!
I'm a former, retired, Merchant Mariners Captain of offshore oilfield ( mostly) supply & tugs, worked mostly West Africa, Middle East ,Dubai and around Singapore. Retired after 35 + years . my dream was to my own small sailboat to live aboard & travel the topics but health problems beached me ! Sad for me. Now I live vicariously through the Sailors on Ran and others . Luck for me !
Funny I saw several old work boats there in Seattle that were the same class, sister ships, of boats from my Louisiana Gulf of Mexico work days early bin my career maybe as a young man I even worked on some of them-who knows ??
We are considering sailing to Tierra Del Fuego where it’s cold too. You make it look nice to be in the snow and ice ;) Thanks for the tilt to my spirits about it! (This is Rebecca, not Patrick, on SV Brick House btw) And wow..how nice of Kenneth in all regards...
Love the nature walks, My father was born in Snoqualamie Falls and his Father migrated there from Sweden and is buried right down the road. Brings back memories of them both.
Thank you, it was great reliving Twin Peaks. Johan does a good impersonation of Agent Dale Cooper! I've been meaning to say that I find RAN's exhaust note very soothing. I know that might sound weird but there is a thing called #ASMR and RAN's exhaust sound fits right in. I would love 15 minutes of nothing but RAN's humming! It's like meditating!
Beautiful scenery and photography once again, and RAN is getting a little TLC. The friends you both have made throughout your travels is down to your lovable lifestyle and friendly approach to others. I wish the world would take a leaf out book. ⛵️
Thank you to your good patreon for letting you stay on their boat while you're working on yours that's awful kind of them the world needs more people like that and another beautiful video below the hike y'all did in the snow up to the waterfall that was beautiful thank you for taking the time to share with us as always be safe and God bless you
What a beautiful experience you have had in Seattle and Lake Union. You Both seem at peace and happy. Kenneth is an amazing supporter. Good bless him and his family. Yet, then Johan and Malin, you attract beautiful people. ✨😊✨💕✨🍷✨
Beautiful around the waterfall covered in snow . Great vlog and real good of those patreons to let you use their boat as a base and aid you in finances . Fanx for sharing once again :-D
Your hike to the waterfall was just magnificent, such a beautiful place😊 I agree with you,far better to bolt your chain locker in place with the future in mind, the locker will probably never fail, but you may need to get behind it👍 How are you going looking for your water leaks that you showed on an earlier episode?I sure hope you can find those while you are hauled out,a lot more convenient to fix. All the best😊
It's a big job to get to the area where the leak is originating from, so we have decided to wait until we're further south. And for some reason, the leak has disappeared again, probably because the teak is water saturated. Thanks for watching! Cheers! :-)
You might not want to see Seattle up close nowdays, its fallen on major inequality and the opioid epidemic has dealt a death blow to the area. Homeless everywhere, even many working 40 hours a week homeless in tents under bridges unable to afford housing but mostly mentally ill or hopelesly addicted to dope. I lived under I-5 for 2 years in a tent near Georgetown neighborhood all the while working full time until I saved enough to buy a boat, but even then ive been on a waiting list for 14 months to get live aboard moorage with no end in Sight the whole time sleeping in my subaru..Now they are indefinately extending my predicted 12 month waiting period to multiple years (the website now says 5-10 years) after getting my non-refundable deposit. Syringes litter the parks, human excrement everywhere. Beggers outside of every store, just like every city 1/4 the size of Seattle to the largest cities in the nation, America is on the decline
If you mean what we saw during the walk, it was snow, some more snow and some more shitty snow ;-) Too bad it's all melted around here, we could have send you some truck load... we had our fill for this year...
Love that lock with moving walls! We’re from upstate New York and keep our boat on the Mohawk River. Wherever we travel in the Summer there’s always 15 or 20 locks to go through on the Erie and barge canal‘s. Seven to go through just to lock down to the Hudson river. They’re all the regular style where you have to hang onto ropes on the side of the wall. You didn’t seem too nervous when they were hauling your boat out of the water on the travel lift .I’m always afraid ours is going to slip out of the straps. I have been following your travels for quite some time and was wondering how you speak English so fluently. Great video and I look forward to more.
Hi Stephen! Yes, the moving walls certainly make the locks easier. Somedays we're struggling with our English, but we learn new words every day, thanks to producing our videos. In Sweden, it's mandatory in school with English from an early age... Cheers!
nice episode, wouldn't a 4 blade with retractable blades be a much better all around prop that would quickly save you the costs rather than the one I saw in this video? We changed to a new 4 blade and wow, what a difference.
You don't mention it but do you know what "nuestra casa" means? It is "Our house". I am glad you found your house while being out of RAN for the works. Where do you plan to be at the end of July?
Hi you two, I am enjoying the videos that you produce and the scenery that you have encountered. As someone who has fitted out boats and sail a small yacht I liked your idea of the chain locker being removable, but I have a question, you don't seem to have a drain in the bottom, surely a certain amount of water will enter with the chain and it will deteriorate if left to lay in wet conditions.
In the north of Sweden, you always supposed to eat burgers with knife and fork. Though neither Malin nor Johan is from the north so you might be correct ;) The Swedish fastfood chain Max always supply knife and fork with their burgers (atleast up here).
Hello. When I see your many repairs and work (like engine maintenance), I always think you have a lot of special tools and spare parts on board. But where do you store all this? Especially when visitors stay overnight with you on board. May be you like to show when you have a long day on sea? Thank you and best wishes!

@@anderspersson7084 Casanova means new house (more appropriately casa nova, noun and adjective, as nova is the latin for nuova, new and also a dialectical form for nuova new in some places, in the feminine genre; the masculine is nuovo, new) So you must write Piccola Casanova, as Piccolo refers to a masculine noun, whilst Casa, in italian is feminine - we do not have neutral as in german - For example, when someone refers to a female with "Bravo", makes a mistake: it is "Brava".

Enjoyed your video as always, sure seems like these sailboats require a lot of maintenance $$$
AKTrapper : yep
For sure. But the boat gives a lot back for the dollars spent. #worldwideadventures
I bet that chain locker is a really loud one if didn't put some kind of foam or other sound dampening stuff on it. Beautiful trawler your staying on.
It's actually not to bad, the chain locker. It's mostly when we're retrieving the chain... Cheers!
Beautiful scenery! I wonder who else is fixing a boat on Lake Union? Another great video. GOD bless. JC
Great video. Great filming.
Thanks Terry!
Just watched this episode and great as always!!.. Walked down and looked at Ran in slip P-10. We are just up from you in O-1.

I spy a large box of Krispy Kremes..! Another great video lots of content on and off the boat.

I see you occasionally wear carhart clothing
Love it
Carhart has been the best wearing and lasting clothing I have used for the last 15 years

Great episode. Can you tell the difference with the engine now that it has been overhauled?

😂
There aren't many marinas left in the US that allow you to do the bottom jobs anymore unfortunately.
how much water does Ran draw? thank you for the videos, top of the line videos
Thanks for watching! Ran draws 2,10 meters, around 7 feet. Cheers!

nice chain locker guys, what's the plan for getting rid of water from it??
Thanks! There will be more on the chain locker in the next episode... :-) Cheers!
Johan, how is the engine running compared with before the overhaul?
It's running fine so far. Sounds better and smokes less... Cheers!
does that chain locker have a drain?
Wife and I start our Friday nights with RAN sailing.
Great! :-) Thanks!
Where in Duwamish? My 74' boat isn't too far away.
Harbor Island... :-)
@@RANSailing Cool. Not too far then. only about 2nm from where I am but soon will be near the locks. finally floated her in January.
Krispy Kreme!!!
Did engine horse power improve?
Hard to say, but it sounds a lot better and smokes less. Cheers!
👍
Sorry, I'm a native Florida boy here. That just looks too cold for me. Very beautiful, but cold.
So excited, I got to give the first like and second view. Thanks for your vids your awesome!
