Great video. Sailed south in 2009 calling our trip, Escape from winter. After a few weeks fridge failed and the trip was renamed, A search for ice. We also lost the auto helm and hand steered all the way to Trinidad.
That passage around the south of Nova Scotia is bad because of the tides in the Bay of Fundy. There is one passage that the locals call the "Hospital Passage," and like all hospitals, this one is best avoided.
Wires are swapped on the motor , when it tries to steer you back onto course it spins the wrong way then alarms it can not keep course - common mistake
Great to see your adventure unfold and see you guys handle challenges as they come.
Thank you, we're glad you're enjoying it☺️
Another great video.... way to go.
Thanks for the encouragement 😄
Great video, subscribed 😀
Thank you 🙏🏻
Good job, respectfully suggesting you use Hydrovane for self-steering, personally used Hydrovane for over 40 years and it never let us down.
Thanks! And I totally agree, however I don't think we'd bother adding one onto this boat, maybe our next boat! We opted for a new autohelm instead 🙃

The fridge is a blessing but eats all our power 😅 we bought a new autohelm and it's been wonderful. That must have been a long trip to Trinidad!
@@sethandjordan we started like yourself in Nova Scotia. We were on a two year sailing plan so were not in a rush. Hope you have a great time. We did.
Happy new year
Happy new year!!
Happy new year pals! Stress of the scary moments aside you both sound incredibly happy!!
Hey Cody!! Miss you buddy, and happy new year 😄 equal balance of happy and crapping pants

Oh jeez sounds scary! Good to know these things in advance lol
:)
Is there any chance the two wires going to your autopilot motor got swapped? Sounds like what happened to me. It's worth a try to swap them.
Never tested it to find out and we ended up replacing it. Someone else's comment suggested the same thing. Ah well, you win some, you lose some 🤷🏻♀️

Wish we knew this before replacing it 🤦🏻♀️
