"Forgetting to live" your so right, most of us are just surviving, not living, the same old ,same old gets OLD fast, great video. Good luck in all your travels .
"Be open to things being difficult and that will help you get through them". Thank you Mandy, I needed to hear that today. Really nice channel btw. I just subscribed.
Mandy should be a paid ambassador for Tag/T@b trailers. Nu Camp company needs to use her to promote these awesome little trailers. I personally like the T@b S trailer.
Travelin' Ted hello. We purchased a camper that would allow us to do what we wanted, while not disrupting our lives/budget greatly. Last summer was awesome because of it. So it works for us and our tow vehicle (tv).👍🏼🙂
Hey, Mandy. Met you at the Pink Hill Tiny House Street Festival. We hung out with YurtGrrrl for a couple of days. My wife and I have the same Teardrop camper, and have LOVED it. I really respect your decision to live on your terms. We've spent long trips in our camper as well, but we do it as a couple, so we have different challenges. Keep doing what you love, whether that be on the road, or in some permanent spot later. Being happy is the biggest goal.
Do you use a portable potty? Did you ever consider using an attached tent...for mud room, potty, office space, dining area, etc.? I'm fixing up a minivan with cot, storage bins underneathe, and back area for my two border collie mixes, but use a cabin tent for such things (living, dining, dressing, and bath room). I have a storage pod on top for my tent and hiking things. Also, there's lap trays made now for your computer, that you can get at a discount store like Walmart. I saw a RUclips minivan camper use one in her cab. I'm getting ready for more extended camping trips once I'm retired next year. I love watching your adventures. Happy trails.
I'm glad I happened on to your channel. Our RV is giant by comparison, and I'm finding out I can do away with about 50% of the stuff I thought I needed still. It is still a far cry from our bricks and sticks setup. I think your attitude demonstrates exactly what is required to be happy on the road. "Be open to things being difficult.." Great quote.
This was a great interview. Thoughtful, well worded questions and really great answers. Thank you for the insight of the day to day dealings. Great stuff!
Hi there, I think a wagan electric cooler/heater would be a good investment for you. You can plug it into an outlet (have to by adaptor) or 12 volt. I've used it for many car camping trips and it's a life saver. If you have a solar setup or battery (e.g. goal zero), then you can plug it in there as well.
I like the practical advice to do a complete unpack at some point. Seems like that would provide an opportunity to do a really granular assessment of what's in the box, and do I actually need it. I could see a lot of things flying under the radar without a complete unpack. It's a strategy I haven't seen anywhere else, and one I will definitely use myself, thanks.
What a beautiful trailer Mandy. Frozen make up! What a crack up. One year more before i retire. I love the outdoors and photograph my camping trips mostly in the Rockies. I have great Elk pictures during the bugling season. Maybe ill see you sometime out and about. Enjoyed the video, smile and dimples.
Beautiful video. I'm headed out with tents and old -like me-but hardy suv to the Sierras starting in July. My life taught me to adapt and I do believe I am a best friend to myself. That's coming from a place that's forgiving of my errors here and there. Love your videos.
Thank you for your interview. You gave me a very helpful emotional/interpersonal feel for the life and decisions that you have been making. It's reassuring that you can cope with frozen peanut butter with humor.
What a great video! I plan to be another person full timing in a teardrop. You kinda got me scared about the "everything is freezing" part because I want to stay in Colorado for the winter!
Hi, Mandy! I like this interview because it deals with loneliness and other things many potential travelers either don't consider or consider until it stops them. Even after years of study, I didn't realize that Escapees provided that level of social contact. I'll note that, as you said, other communities also await. If people look around and online, plenty of people welcome a person to a given style of road life.
Hi Mandy, I was so happy to see such positive energy here. There is something magical being so close to the outdoors. I'm looking for a teardrop for weekend getaways, however I would never consider teardropping full time. With much respect, I wish you many awesome adventures, & timeless images.
Love the channel Mandy. I look forward to bumping into you on the road in the future as my intention is to become a full time teardrop dweller too. Im in the research phase still. I have a ton of questions of course. Keep making awesome videos.
This adds an important dimension to your other videos: supplementary storage in your SUV; longer-term storage with conventional dwelling family and friends; emotional highs and lows. Thanks.
This is a completely and utterly selfish post, but man oh man according to RUclips it's only been a week since the last 2 Vlogs and I am already like "where's the next one" So please feel free to ignore my Winey cries And produce your Vlog the way you see fit cause it's amazing. Till the next time, keep living this life your way
Someone needs a Fire under their Butt!!! Again selfishness at its finest. I need vlogs and to hear your voice. Also ideas on the best starter camera for me to start with, zero experience
Hi Mandy. Thanks for sharing your lifestyle with the world. I've been feeling the urge to try this myself but some of the logistical matters baffle me. I guess the main issue is where do you put it? Are you always moving from place to place? Do you have a home base like an RV park or something? How does your cost of living compare to that of apartment life? I mean, is this a good choice for a "tight budget" lifestyle? I am self employed as well but I must spend time near urban centers to find clients. So many questions...
This is an involved answer, and honestly the answer will differ from person to person depending on what you're reason for being on the road is and what you're doing. But in short, for me, I move constantly. Never anywhere more than a few days. I boondock, moochdock, and stay at the occasional campground. No home base. I still have many expenses since I travel so much. I don't pay rent but now I spend a lot on gas. Although I do keep a pretty good budget. Hope this helps.
Hmmm. Interesting. I am also considering a small truck camper. No lavatory and has a pop-up top but it just becomes part of the car which seems convenient. The new T@Bs look pretty sweet tho. I have a theory that many more people are going to turn to this type of mobile living given the rising population and decreasing housing/employment opportunities. Thanks for taking the time to respond. I hope to hear more about your adventures.
I tried to browse all your comments so I don't repeat a question. What kind of insulation does your tab have? What do you use for heat? I believe I watched a video where you're getting a new one. Aside from the higher suspension & more off road worthy, will it have more indoor amenities? Always great videos, thank you.
This video was made in my t@g - a huge difference from the t@b. It is insulated with 2" of insulation between two sheets of material they call Azdale, with an aluminum frame. The insulation works great. All of my extras inside are things I have done myself. Check out my Vlog #13 which talks about all of them!
I am soo close...house sold...stuff in storage....down to logistics....Its funny some will be lonely in a crowded room....this was as always inspiring. I hope someday i meet people as cool as u on the road 😆. TY
Hey Mandy, I came across you videos and have been enjoying them. I noticed that early on your teardrop had turquoise instead of orange accents. Did you get another teardrop or did you have the accents changed? I tried to find a video where you addressed that but so far I have not found it. Thanks and best of luck to you in your sdventures.

Hey Mandy, thanks for the reply. I will be sure to check out the links above. Have a great day! Just watched both. So sorry this happened but glad to see it did not stop you from continuing your adventure. I am now a follower on FB. :-)
I travel and live part time in a teardrop just like yours. Yes loneliness is a battle. But I do have friends all over the country that I go visit when I need people!! I am also a member of several camping groups I meet up with. Packing.....oh yes I have packed and repacked my camper and my tow vehicle MANY times!!! It is a thing!!
great video subbed can't remember how many times i've knocked my noggin in our Teardrop haven't done more than a couple days camping in ours it's cool your all dialed in on what stuff you really need our last camp trip had the teardrop stuffed to the rafters couldn't even get in the doors
Love your videos! Just learned about escapees... each tip makes me closer to my dream and helps me visualize being there already! Meet you some day sister
Pardon the personal nature of this question, but how do you deal with not having a toilet as much time as you spend in the teardrop? Like if it is the middle of the night and cold/raining and you have to go.
Mandy, have you ever Geocached while on the road. You need to check it out at www.geocaching.com. Geocaching takes you to some amazing places you might want to check out.
I've been watching a lot of these tiny home videos so it makes sense that this video was recommended for me, but when I saw the title my initial thought was "wait! This person gets paid to cry?" 😜 #derp
Hello. Your misery matches mine. Pick me pick me!! lol. Love following along on your adventures. I'm about 5 yrs away from doing this myself (child still not ready for post secondary but soon). I'm still not sure if I will do this in a teardrop or van dwelling or what but I have time to figure it out. Thanks for sharing the details of this life. Particularly the horrible stuff as I'm sure most people are more caught up in the romanticism of this lifestyle and don't consider the hardships.
Hahaha, I appreciate your enthusiasm but I'm too happy flying solo :) I encourage you to follow your dream though, you will learn so much about yourself and life.
ooo!ooo! pick me! I'm very low maintenance, but highly skilled, lost a ton so I'm easy to ship......and I'm a post-grad student who wants to run away from home.......like now is fine. lolz!
God I love your spirit! There are aspects of this lifestyle that are highly appealing to me and I have the where with all to do it, (I'm retired with decent savings and a pension) but I'm not sure I could handle the loneliness and constant change. Any advice? Thx!
David, Have you watched my vlog titled "My own best friend"? I deal with this issue in that one. Basically, you are never alone if you can learn to not only love, but also like yourself. You must enjoy your own company and you will always have someone to hang out with. But above that, there is a huge community of full timers out there and if you want to be around people, you can find them.
A-ha, now I know what's the tie on your head for! Well, perhaps that'll be a great device for teardrop dwellers to wear a pompom cap... :) to protect head until one gets used to corners
I saw a few questions about "how do you shower?" ... I met a lady outside Page, AZ who was just starting out, and she asked me that question. To help make my response more understandable, I camp by myself , as far away from other people as I can. My completely serious response was "I try to stand downwind of them". She thought I was being funny! :)
Hahaha... thats a great answer! Sometimes people have a hard time understanding that you don't really have to shower THAT often and life will be okay! Showers just find me when I need them :)
" Showers just find me when I need them :) " .... At first, I thought, 'Wow! how "cute and funny" while so "pragmatic".' I mean, it was like that little light bulb went off over my head... Uh, d'uh?! Why didn't I see that one coming? (Afterthought... Rain = Shower?)
Gyms are my first option but what I do is clip a shower curtain around both car open doors. I create a square and use a gallon of water to get it done. :)
You are living a dream of my. I would love to do that but I really doubt it would work for me because I have a special needs child and I ain't going anywhere without him
I feel bad because I wanna live in Teardrop but I don't care about having a small footprint...I just want to because I like camping and I like tiny spaces
Low maintenance person! Haha! Great! Wish you find one! ;-) btw, i left you a message via FB trying to help you with some convenience stuff, but i did not get any feedback. I rarely use FB and do not know how exactly it work. It will be nice if you could reply me :-)
"Forgetting to live" your so right, most of us are just surviving, not living, the same old ,same old gets OLD fast, great video. Good luck in all your travels .

Mandy Lea Photo I love the NuCamp Tab 400. We ended up getting the Aliner Scout Lite though. This was the only way we could use our current TV.

So, you bought a travel trailer based on your TV?
Travelin' Ted hello. We purchased a camper that would allow us to do what we wanted, while not disrupting our lives/budget greatly. Last summer was awesome because of it. So it works for us and our tow vehicle (tv).👍🏼🙂

I enjoyed the interview Mandy. Love your spirit and your work.

Haha, its a great thing to do whether you live on the road or even in a house!!! We don't need near the things we think we do.
Funny, my wife just told me she signed us up for Two tables at the community garage sale, guess I better get busy. Cheers!
Hey Mandy Lea! I was your neighbor at Ohlala Lavender Farms!! Thank you for the great info!!!

As long as you expect it and are ready for it, it isn't too bad!
Also got concerned cuz i live in ohio and the same stuff can happen
Have you started living full time in a teardrop? I am about to as well.
Hi, Mandy! I like this interview because it deals with loneliness and other things many potential travelers either don't consider or consider until it stops them. They sure do! I took a 6 week "road test" trip before I left and was very lonely. But this is exactly why I knew what to expect and how to handle it.

Thanks Mandy, this is really helpful. I admire your efforts to break free from the rat race and keep pursuing your passion

I tried to browse all your comments so I don't repeat a question. What kind of insulation does your tab have? What do you use for heat? I believe I watched a video where you're getting a new one. Aside from the higher suspension & more off road worthy, will it have more indoor amenities?

I enjoyed this very much, especially the dancing at the end, haha!
What's your gas mileage like towing your teardrop and do you have to make sure your camera equipment is well strap down while moving.?
My car is so full it doesn't move around :) I get about 14-16mpg

LOL. I love this interview. I expect to be bumping my head frequently. Thanks for all the insight.

Hi have u thought about making a vid talking about showers and bathrooms?

Excellent interview. Thank you.
Wonderful, thank you for all that truth...
I LOVE THE CURTAINS!
excellent, very well spoken,
Thanks Pete!
I left a crockpot at the door of a 5th wheel! Great content as always
I would be migratory. When it's cold i'd move to the warm areas and when it's warm I'd move to the mountains. Everyone has to do it their way though.
Yes that is what many people do.
yeah the whole cooking over an open fire thing is indeed frowned upon by most apartment Landlords/ladies...imagine that. lolz! just love the spirit!
WynnKidsNanny LoriVance hahaha, we all do what we can!!
Pardon the personal nature of this question, but how do you deal with not having a toilet as much time as you spend in the teardrop? Like if it is the middle of the night and cold/raining and you have to go.
This is great and brave. kudos! What do you do about showering & a bathroom?
Thank you! It's not really so hard, never had a problem finding a bathroom :)
bushes are everywhere. Some of them are kind of dried out and not very useful here in Texas. Then there is that HOA thing.........
Just like a cooler will keep things cold it will keep things from freezing 🖖
Very Cool!

I would go with a minivan vs this size teardrop. You can still cook outdoors. Just bring a table and gas stove outside.
Good interview!
Can I ask how much stuff you have in storage?
Thanks,
Kari
This interview is over a year old. At the time, I had just a small unit. And now I am proud to say I sold or gave it all away! No more storage!!!
Cool beans about nothing in storage! What about at mom and dad’s?
Kari
p.s. I knew the interview was over a year old, still enjoyed watching it!
Do you have the link to that awning? What's it called or name brand
I love your camper
Thanks! We do too :)
I couldn't deal with not being able to stand inside for timeframes beyond a camping trip.
We spend most of our time outside - especially with the T@G, it was really just my bedroom to sleep :)

Thanks! I'm lovin' it.
How much did you spend on all of this? I've been interested in a setup like this :)
On the camper? They range from 12-15k brand new. You can sometimes find them used for less.
Mandy Lea , wow that is a bit pricey for a camper with no bathroom. A few more grand you could get the Winnebago drop, which is at least 18
feet.
What an awesome life, so cool! Chase that 70 degrees!

Can you do an update?? How is she doing now??
Hey William! This video is actually on my channel :) Feel free to subscribe to me as I do frequent updates! Still living on the road.
How do you keep the batteries from freezing?
Hand warmers!
I aspire to join the movement very soon
Watch your head, sweetie! ❤️
well NOW I will, haha
Mandy Lea I would do the very same thing! 😂
god, she's so cool
We're you at rtr during this video?
I was near it. There were a bunch of groups all in that same area. I was with the escapees next door
A-ha, now I know what's the tie on your head for! Well, perhaps that'll be a great device for teardrop dwellers to wear a pompom cap... :) to protect head until one gets used to corners
LOL!!
Did i miss some post?? Did you get ride of the Jeep?
I still have the Jeep?
Mandy Lea ok just seen I think a Mazda. Hope your having a good day.
Bravo 👏👍👏👍👏👍👏 great video
Great interview:)
Love the honesty!
Thank you! No reason not to put it all out there...
I love it
I saw a few questions about "how do you shower?" ...
What kind of jobs to full timers have?
You are living a dream of my. I would love to do that but I really doubt it would work for me because I have a special needs child and I ain't going anywhere without him
I hope you can live vicariously through me!
How about camping with your child? I am sorry if intruding.
I feel bad because I wanna live in Teardrop but I don't care about having a small footprint...I just want to because I like camping and I like tiny spaces
Don't feel bad - do it for whatever reason you want to do it for, and consider a small footprint a beneficial symptom of the life :)
@@MandyLea Yeah, It's good that it would benefit the earth too! :)
Beautiful
