That high harmony blows me away I can listen to it over and over again just beautiful. I had no idea it was Witney Houston's mother. The very time I heard it was played at a bowling alley and that high harmony echoed throughout the building.
There will never be another Aretha, Ella, Sara V . All unforgettable voices, will go down in history! Can't imagine anyone not loving Aretha Franklin. Makes my heart smile❤
I have to confess that for several decades I thought Aretha was overrated. But when I had the pleasure of going through her body of work in order to see why I thought such a thing, it didn’t take very long for me to realize that she was spectacular in every way, and not many others can dismantle a song as she did. The true queen of soul.
Idc what anyone says there will be never be another Aretha. No matter the talent, the way she delivered this seemingly effortlessly is CRAZY! Will never be another like her.
After listening to this song for quite a while and countless times, which included all the versions/covers from other singers, I can truly say this, " Aretha, being the original, sang this song as it it should've been the truth." Others tried to sing it hoping they'd give a better rendition and upend the original but through the nuances of additional embellishments only failed. Aretha did not use any falsetto note to hit the high register, it was pure power and reach and that was were the truth came from. It did cut through the listerner's soul and emotion, the power of which, only Aretha possessed. One of a kind.

This song by Aretha Franklin is the best song she recorded. It's from her heart, from her soul way down deep inside. All the pain, the heartache and the love for a man, will take you there. I LOVE THIS SONG because itn was her shining moment where everything was revealed. Your heart can only take so much, especially, when your heart is in pain. She was a voice of all women who are in love, so distinctively, you could feel everything. She had the ability to sing something so personal, that it aroused every thing inside of you that you kept a secret for years. She let us know, we were never left alone, even though, we never knew it. That song she sang let us know how much we love and never be ashamed of it. The only thing is, no matter what you do for a man, we are always seen and not heard. MARION HUNTER.

As for me, this song makes me remember, family, the smell of collard greens, a beautiful sunny day, being 16-17, momma cooking (love you mom) daddy and auntie Louise talking and laughing and sharing memories, remembering my Aunts Daisy Mae, and Ella Mae kitchen always smelled like the best restaurant in town, the fearlessness of youth, never forgetting hot summer sunny days, unity in my family, although there some tough times, smelling cornbread, pinto beans, and seeing that 3 tier chocolate cake, rich in love and family no matter what the other people thought or said, friends, hanging out at the gym, the park playing football, swimming and taking walks in the rural fields in Wichita Falls TX and Duncan OK. Funny how a song can unlock a vault of memories, pleasant and not so pleasant. I have lived a rich life. 2020 I will be 60 years young, if it is Yahuah's will. I am grateful for the tears and the years. Each has been a gift. Be strong Israel. This time is like the setting sun. It is going out with a bang. Our father must exact vengence on all the nations that have hated us. Be strong family! Thank you Ms. Franklyn for what your voice still means to so many still living and for the memories you cause to rebound and cause a smile to come to my face today. The world, the nations, all global financial systems are in chaos. Pestilence is upon the earth. Earthquakes are everywhere. Wars and rumors of wars are on the news and T.V. and radio, internet, day and night, night and day. The black Messiah said to the black Hebrews before he left the black tribes of Israel (Jacob's children) these signs would be upon all mankind before his return. The days we are living through are warning signs to all nations, peoples, tongues and languages. Messiah is coming to bring his sword to all nations who have enslaved, murdered, raped, lynched and sold his brethren. Black Israel has been away from Jerusalem for almost 3,000 years or three days if you will. If you know anything about history, you know it is written by those who seized control over the earth. You should also know they wrote lies. All lies. Black Messiah, Yahusha, said, all that is hidden, will be brought to light. He is causing the Tribes of Israel, the true children of the kingdom, to awaken and to reclaim their heritage (see Ezekiel 37 and 38) We are in a physical and spiritual war against all nations, government leaders and armies who hate the so called black man and woman, the true children of Israel. I lie not. In the coming days, hour, months, you will see the power of Yahuah, destroy the nations to save his people. See Luke 2. Father will destroy all economies, armies and governments that hate his children, the black man and woman who has been in bondage for over 400 years in America. See Genesis15:13. See US House Bill, 1242, See on RUclips, African Nations (Ghana, Nigeria, and other emerging economies establishing, "the right of return and citizenship to the children of the African Diaspora (Slave Trade). NOTE: (the sons of Ham - Egyptians and Hebrews), [Abraham's seed] are often mistaken to be the same people. Apostle Paul was mistaken for being Egyptian, (see Acts 21:38), Moses was mistaken for being an Egyptian (Exodus 2:19). Historians have written lies and made all of Africa to be the sons of Ham. Black Hebrews (Abraham's children and black Africans, sons of Ham have always looked like one people, one nation. See Genesis 50. You will see ALL of the house of Pharaoh and ALL of the house of Israel are view as one people by the Canaanites. All of history as you and I know it has been whitewashed and written to make white skin beautiful and stronger and superior. When in fact that is but a lie. White skin people have had a limited (gentile) rule on earth as all the black prophets have foretold. If you think you have felt the power of words in my previous post about Mrs. Franklin, surely, I have spoken what is in my heart as well. I don't know you. I do warn you and tell you, the end of all white gentile rule over the earth is at its end. It will end in double, horrible as it began. It will also culminate in gentiles (white skinned nations waring against eachother and destroying eachother). This has happened before, except, when it happened in 2 Chronicles, chapter 20, the nations were all so called black and they came against the ancient kingdom of black Hebrews. Father will cause it to happen again, except this time, whatever caused the skin and other characteristics of the sons of Japheth to become white; it will be the white skinned nations who destroy eachother. I lie not. You must prepare your heart for what is yet to come upon all men upon the face of the earth. JUDGEMENT! The bible is the history of a black man, Abraham, his sons, Isaac, and Jacob - Israel and Israel's 12 sons (Tribes). This is where the world gets the name 12 Tribes of Israel. And none of them, not even Messiah, were Christian's they were as I am, HEBREWS. Everything we know has changed. Everything we know will change again and again. There will be no return to "normal". JUDGEMENT has returned in the power of the name Yahuah and all his righteousness. My hope and my prayer for you is that you are one of the gentiles who escapes the judgement and righteous destruction that is being measured out each day upon the nations of the earth. Shalum!

@krash718 Go listen to “Baby Baby Baby” “My Song” and “Drown In My Own Tears” by Aretha too. Only assuming if you’ve never heard those before, you’ll probably get the same “tingling” from her singing and piano playing.
As a Man, I love and sing this Song often. The way Aretha sings this song goes straight to the heart on the very 1st note. Cissy Huston is the Glue that keeps this song air tight, with her background Soprano acrobatic capabilities
It's no question MS Franklin was and will forever be THE QUEEN OF SOUL! ITS JUST AINT NO WAY SOME ONE ELSE COULD LIVE UP TO THIS TITLE! SHE IS INDEED MY QUEEN AND THATS FOREVER! Rip MS Franklin!

My favorite version of this - I was 14 when it came out. I love the orchestration of this one best, and Cissy's ethereal notes - wow! Embarrassed that it was only a few years ago that I knew she sang that part. RIP Carolyn who wrote it, and Aretha and Cissy who truly brought it to life!
Aretha Franklin wrote the best love songs of someone who truly loved her husband. He had a jib that may not have been accepted by society but he took his money and financed her record career. Maybe that was part of her love she could never forget. Helped world know Aretha Franklin.
If ever an Aretha song made me cry, it was this one. And I remember who I was crying about lol. I'm dating myself here but I was a lucky 17 year old and saw her at Radio City in Manhattan I think in '73 or '74. It was wonderful.
This is July 31, 2024 and I'm watching the funeral of Aretha Franklin. The things the people was saying about her was amazing and she received so many honors. She is amazing. One more thing the song " Ain't No Way is the one I listen to all the time ( my Favorite ).

I still remember when I heard this masterpiece for the first time, I was like 12 and I was lying on the floor in my P.E class. it really blew my mind that I tried to look for the name but I didn't succeed. Next, I listened to it again when Mercedes Jones sang it on Glee like 2 years later. Then, when I fell in love for the first time... It reminds me of all those stories when you're not just enough. Since then, I can't help listening to it every single time I feel a bit nostalgic.

Shalum!
Clarence, this is a great story right there. This remind me of WVON 1390AM Good Guys Like E.Rodney Jones & Pervis Spann The Blues Man Would Play This Religiously.
Cissy Houston Alto singing background hits her notes with ease

Music will never sound this good again, R.I.P. To the Queen❤️❤️❤️
I got to hear this for the first time. why is my skin tingling from her voice. This is a beautiful sad song
@krash718 Go listen to
“Baby Baby Baby” “My Song” and “Drown In My Own Tears” by Aretha too. Only assuming if you’ve never heard those before, you’ll probably get the same “tingling” from her singing and piano playing.
Hope you had headphones on
As a Man, I love and sing this Song often. The way Aretha sings this song goes straight to the heart on the very 1st note. Cissy Huston is the Glue that keeps this song air tight, with her background Soprano acrobatic capabilities
Can't imagine how Carolyn Franklin felt about her life , her love for a woman .

Hello Debra, how are you doing today, hope you’re fine and safe from the COVID-19 virus??
When you love someone who doesn’t know how to love. It will nearly kill you but you move on. They tie both of your hands, you gotta untie them eventually and close that door
What does that part mean? When she says tie both of my hands
Hello Sue, how are you doing today, hope you’re fine and safe from the COVID-19 virus??
My favorite version of this - I was 14 when it came out. I love the orchestration of this one best, and Cissy's ethereal notes - wow! Embarrassed that it was only a few years ago that I knew she sang that part. RIP Carolyn who wrote it, and Aretha and Cissy who truly brought it to life!
Aretha Franklin wrote the best love songs of someone who truly loved her husband. He had a jib that may not have been accepted by society but he took his money and financed her record career. Maybe that was part of her love she could never forget. Helped world know Aretha Franklin.
Hello Sharon, how are you doing today, hope you’re fine and safe from the COVID-19 virus??

Hello Glynda, how are you doing today, hope you’re fine and safe from the COVID-19 virus??
😭 First song I ever cried to while listening to it at age 12.😭
If ever an Aretha song made me cry, it was this one. And I remember who I was crying about lol. I'm dating myself here but I was a lucky 17 year old and saw her at Radio City in Manhattan I think in '73 or '74. It was wonderful.
This is July 31, 2024 and I'm watching the funeral of Aretha Franklin. The things the people was saying about her was amazing and she received so many honors. She is amazing. One more thing the song " Ain't No Way is the one I listen to all the time ( my Favorite ).
There will never be another Lady Soul.
Hello Melissa, how are you doing today, hope you’re fine and safe from the COVID-19 virus??

I still remember when I heard this masterpiece for the first time, I was like 12 and I was lying on the floor in my P.E class. it really blew my mind that I tried to look for the name but I didn't succeed. Next, I listened to it again when Mercedes Jones sang it on Glee like 2 years later.
Then, when I fell in love for the first time... It reminds me of all those stories when you're not just enough.
Since then, I can't help listening to it every single time I feel a bit nostalgic.
2:49 goosebumps 💖
Old school song's never gets old. Best lady in the world. Her song's never gets old.
