Britain's Queen Elizabeth the Second and her daughter Princess Anne have been visiting Dunblane, where 16 children and their teacher were massacred.
They laid flowers at the primary school gates in remembrance of the young victims who were shot in the school gymnasium.
They also met medical staff and emergency service workers who helped deal with the tragedy.
Queen Elizabeth and the Princess Royal today arrived in Dunblane to join in the national mourning for the 17 victims of the school gym massacre.
On this grey Mothering Sunday Queen Elizabeth and Princess Anne went first to the 13th century cathedral where an emotional service in the aftermath of the massacre was held earlier today.
The Queen spent 15 minutes talking privately to 30 people whose children have been killed or injured.
Then she and Princess Anne took their own floral tributes to the victims of the massacre.
They joined the thousands of flowers which now form a carpet extending along the pavement beside the school.
The Princess brought north with her a small posy of snowdrops she had
picked from her own garden earlier in the day.
The Queen brought a bouquet of pink and yellow flowers - deliberately, not a wreath.
She laid it outside the school gates, immediately followed by her daughter's wreath.
Queen Elizabeth was accompanied at the scene by the Scottish Secretary Michael Forsyth MP.
She spent several minutes outside the school, pausing to talk to bystanders and then looked at other floral tributes, many of which have been sent from all over the world.
She then moved on to Stirling Royal Infirmary, where she met doctors who led the emergency operation.
She also went to the children's ward to meet other medical staff who were involved in the harrowing treatment of youngsters.
And there was a private visit to the bedsides of children injured in the shooting.

Whatever you think of the monarchy or some of its members, you have to respect for this Queen. Everyday of her reign she showed up for work keeping her vows to her country and her people. She did it beautifully. I truly believe she did that job to the best of her ability and put it above all else.
Aye the Queen was sound, the rest of them are all w*nkers though.
Brain dead sheep!
25 years ago, some of these kids would have their own 5 year olds by now. There are tears forming in my eyes just typing this. RiP angels.
🤍🤍
😔😔😔
😢😢 xx
I feel bad for her. People think she’s hard hearted, when she’s from a time and place where she was taught to keep her feelings to herself
I don't think Queen Elizabeth is hard hearted. She managed to keep her composer but you could see she struggled as she laid down the flowers.
26 years later. And she looks the same lol.
Hard hearted. You have to have heart of steal to deal with what everyone expects of you. I feel sorry for them all. It's not their fault.
And rightly so. Imagine a weeping Queen. She was the rock of the nation. She was resilient and dependable when the nation wasn’t. A true leader
I was 5 when this happened.. I now have my own 6 year old... still cry when I think about those beautiful angels... ❤💙❤
A quarter of a century now.
I hope the relatives and survivors have found a way to find inner peace.
Thankfully our tough gun laws make this sort of atrocity extremely rare in the UK
Oh shut up ! ( you simple-minded sap ! )
I've never seen the Queen wear knee high boots before!
This must have been such a challenging situation for her to dress for, or know how to address the crowd.
I was thinking the same thing! They look good on her.
Even though I suspect Liz is a dude I still managed a decent Tommy tank, 7/10
@@ike25youngyou sick bastard.
r.ip angels you still in our heart always!!
America take note. From this unspeakable act of evil resulting in loss of 16 little children and their teacher came a firmly unstoppable demand for no privately held hand guns, law was changed. In the midst of such beauty and quiet...Its hard to imagine the sorrow. But rally they did...the parents and co.....and I say..aside from feeing sorry for all involved...Its inspiring to see them stand up and get on. Every blessing x
Yes and gun crime has exploded since. Now only criminals have guns they aren't scared anymore.
Also, great until the world goes to chaos, either world war or governments turn on the people and they have all the weapons.
Stephen Murray Not in the UK it hasn’t. Knife crime yes but gun crime no. We really need to crack down on our knife crime though
Yeah "hand guns", most shootingsi n the US take place because of the AR 15, even though it has no affect on crime rates people demand that rifle be banned.
Ban knives!
God bless Queen Elizabeth and all the beautiful little angels. X
I think she is amazing.
I took my oath to her and always would uphold that.
Whatever her style.. she did it better than any vote winner or fake carer ever did. You can see it her face that she is sad and is fighting emotion. Nobody will ever do this better.
I had a little boy the same age , and when I collected him from school that afternoon, I hugged him so hard. Wednesday 13 March 1996, the day I lost my faith.....💔😭
0:48 Odd to grin at such a poignant situation
Duper's Delight is what its known in Psychological terms. Laughing at all the brain dead sheep believing another Masonic hoax!
Quite right , smart woman , intelligent girl, @@leannecampbell4551
She had been 70 years at that point and hardly had grey hair.
It really shows she would live much longer. But if you ask me - not long enough.
The Queen brought her rock to Dunblane
