Sounds like it falls on its face from an idle… in the future don’t turn the camera around while recording, everything is backwards on screen. A lot of good info here for the newbies, good post! 👍🏼

Thank god you said that, thought I was going nuts, or I thought he had a left handed 170 chainsaw🤔😂👍

Ditto on the mirror of the camera, especially when taking material off a specific edge of the flywheel key.

Are you working with a mirror, you said counter clock wise and you turned it to the right which is clock wise. And I have not looked at my 170 for a while but I thought that the fuel and oil are on the left of the saw?

Good video just a little boggy out of the gate. I did the same mods to a few ms170/017 018/ms180 and there are some other carbs that fit but adjustor holes are off a bit to whats on the plastic believe it was the high setting have to open up he flasitcs been a comple years and avoiding that carb stick to wt215 for Least issues

Having the video flipped is really disconcerting when your talking about direction and clockwise stuff. Otherwise great info.

Hey awsome vid and will be doing this to my 170! Question if im looking at the fly wheel do i take materal off going counter clockwise (going right) or do i take materail off going clock wise side (going left). Thanks this vid was perfect

take material off in whatever direction will allow flywheel to advance further in the direction it normally rotates with engine running...you want it to trigger spark sooner....the sooner it triggers, the more advanced the spark event happens

Is that a left handed saw ?

How did you get the flywheel on the right side?

Everything is 180 turned around are you using a mirror to film this, looks like bolts tighten left and crank bolt is left handed, all parts are on opposite site of saw, makes it hard to figure what side of that key way to file...thanks

Needs more tuning. It's got a stutter off the line.

I like taking really cheap saws and actually making something out of them kinda like what your doing here. I could never understand why people keep staring at something when they don't like it either. I mean my God move on ! Good video , thanks

It looked to me...like the timing was retarded....if the flywheel turned clockwise...the new slop or clearance..then bias the flywheel counterclockwise...hence the pickup sensor will see the...sensor sooner....
But now as I watch...that is what to you did...
Isn't it nice the Stihl is so tolerant of meddling?...
    Heavy hogging is best...
