  • The custom built and painted RS3 1201 Lulubell was sent to collect freight cars that were spotted round the RR before an approaching storm. The cars stay out year round but when a storm comes they are brought to one of two yards to give them a bit of protection from the weather. Happy RRing!

    I love the rustic wildness of this layout, no trim garden beds and flower gardens, just wild, unkept plants, hanging tree branches, dirt, dust, spider webs, etc. Makes it so authentic, even the rail cars are all dusty and messy, so realistic. Nice job!

    • @CapeCodTrainTodd
      @CapeCodTrainTodd  5 лет назад +1

      No secrets. Track does not need to be scrubbed shiny to work you only have to get junk off of it. On my RR the junk is often pollen and tree sap. The first run of the day is with my rail broom that tosses leaves, twigs etc off the track. Check out my video "G scale rail sweeper" to see it. If an engine stutters it is usually a combination of dirty wheels and track. For the track I use a green scotchbrite pad on a pole sander. For the wheels I use a paper towel with goo gone. See my video "how to clean wheels on your large scale train". All my trains have metal wheels which helps. The more you run the cleaner your track will stay.

    Another interesting perspective from riding a miniature is that you can feel every bump. Take, for instance, the leaf on the tracks at 6:17 . "#%&*@! My head got slammed into the cab window from that one! Yowch!"

    • @CapeCodTrainTodd
      @CapeCodTrainTodd  5 лет назад +4

      Well considering the scale size of that leaf in perspective it would make a 1:1 train bump. Imagine the 1:1 size of an acorn that would derail a full size train! The adventures of running scale trains outdoors in the real world where a drop of rain is like a 5 gallon bucket getting dumped on your head! Happy RRing!

    It stinks to know you had someone who has total disregard for the love of trains and ALL that goes into building such a time consuming layout and not to mention the cost in creating such a layout and to have them comit a fellony with arson on that back portion of your layout. It took a real Ars to do that. (Funny how the two words are almost identical. Ars/Arson..).hope you have servelance cameras up now and catch those responsible. • @tomat6362

    I'm thinking I'd install weights in the rr cars and locos to ensure the inertia in starts and the momentum in slowdowns and stops is to scale too, not to mention realistic travelling speeds.

    • @CapeCodTrainTodd
      @CapeCodTrainTodd  4 года назад

      The problem with adding weight it that it makes for a heavy train to drag up and down the grades on my RR. The engine is already as heavy as 3-4 bricks. The cars do have metal wheels to lower their center of gravity and help with tracking. The problem with running prototypical speeds is that the video would be 30 minutes long! LOL
