I first picked up "The Mind Illuminated" as a teenager, not remembering exactly why. After initial reading and meditation sessions, I was impressed. Despite this early fascination, I never established a consistent practice, and the specifics of the book faded over time. Now, at 26, I’ve started meditating again, realizing that my early obsession with peak experiences actually undermined my practice. With age, I've come to value the subtler benefits of meditation, like a clearer mind, which I overlooked before.
Ok! Another month has past since my last comment. Still this is the simplest, most accurate explanation of mindfulness. There are many teachers who know what mindfulness is, but make it even more complex when want to explain, esp by using different terms along. which is ok
Thatsright Your attention is on the subtle way the video was made, hmm sounds like you get destracted, sometimes, like me but I'm trying to quit those destractions I crave. It's a civil war of the mind! In the struggle I learn a lot.
I like using sounds. For instance..the humm of the tires in a car. The air conditioner or fan. Birds tweeting ..ect. If you're anxious with a thought or an emotion in the body, Stop, accept the thought but don't log in to it, take a long deep breath, focus on a sound or sight. It calms the mind and body.
Thank you sir , very well articulated .I was on perceiving them on same lines ,this articulation just confirmed the same . And thank you for sharing additional information on balancing the both.
Focussing on the breath connects body and mind, it does not mean that you ignore everything else. You should still be aware of your surroundings and the inner self, as everything is connected. That's how i see it anyway.
William Powell I’d say it’s attention that’s strongly focused to the extent that there’s a tendency to shut out everything but the object of attention. Does this make sense?

Concentration is the action or power of focusing one's attention or mental effort. You could argue that concentration is analogous to stable attention, meaning attention that doesn't shift unintentionally.
He talks about awareness as if he knows what that is, but I can clearly see he speaks from other sources, not of his own. He massively lacks awareness, I wonder how many of you are able to pick this up. This dude understands many things theoretically, no doubt about it; but has little to no experience associated with what he talking about.
@@Alexander-rf3tt he's known on reddit for his TMI meditation and that's about it. You are correct he has lots of knowledge but I can clearly see that is borrowed knowledge, he has little to know personal experience. Few years ago at talked to one of his direct disciples and he had the same idea like you (fully emphasizing gurus), he's the all knowing and all that non-sense. With a few deep questions I dis-mental the teacher to a point of shame. Anyways, my point is forget about all the youtube gurus which are ALL fake. I'm not a guru or any of this non-sense that is going on in the world, however I'm aware enough to smell the bull out of these self proclaimed gurus. If you find someone who pretends to be a master, save yourself a lifetime of wrong commitments and bring it in front of me and I'll have a discussion with them. That way you can convince yourself of the authenticity of their teachings/knowledge. At the end of it I'll tell you where they truly stand but I'm pretty sure it will be clear to you as well based on the way they will be answering. All the best. 🙏

Ok, What's the difference between attention and concentration?

What makes you think that? He's one of the most knowledgeable people on this field, do you not know who he is?
