      @@anonymousr1918 And they used to play football with leather helmets and no face masks. What's your point. Between 2002-2012 our family has highly involved in the WTK and AAU youth levels. Things were pretty heavy then and I'm sure they were even more heavier in the 90's and so on. But times change to make things safer. I played Division I football (CTE anyone?). As for "foot fencing" you're not saying that you'd be fine if you took a flush horse kick to your head....

    It seems like they rarely if ever threw any punches. Is this kicking only? Not trying to be sarcastic. This just seems like a really odd sport.

    • @theocho
      @theocho 3 месяца назад +3

      It's harder to score points with punches. It's not legal to punch to the head, so the athletes need to punch to the body, and the punch needs to be hard enough to register on the sensors. Additionally, a head kick is an automatic 3-points. Therefore, if someone goes in to punch, the other fighter could kick over the top and touch the helmet, so whoever punches needs to dart in quick, hit really hard, and then clinch up so there is no room to get counter-kicked.

      Punches in Taikwando is generally frowned upon and you can only land 1 punch at a time.

    • @adogbeast5736
      @adogbeast5736 Месяц назад

      Kicks are worth more points and since they keep a long stance and a distance it’s harder to move into a range where you can punch for a point.

    • @teovu5557

      It's a sport with original rules. A game. It not supposed to be real fighting.
      Taekwondo is a martial arts and Olympic taekwondo is a sport/game nothing wrong with that.
      Same with boxing why only punches and no kicks or takedowns etc etc it just a sport.
      You want something that looks like real fighting just watch MMA which more free.

    KPNP will destroy this sport. Lots of shots that should've scored and nothing on the board. The only ones that understand why a point is scored and the other one not are only the ones who really know the sport. It's very confusing for a normal viewer, even if you have someone explaining next. Not helping at all in bringing more views on TV. Stupid decision to bring KPNP on the Olympics. Really stupid.

    • @kermit1211
      @kermit1211 6 месяцев назад +3

      Electronic scoring pads. Got to hit it with enough snap or it won't score. Not that hard to understand
      Still I love 90s taekwondo better where only hard kicks that move the opponent scores and weak kicks don't counts.
