After my accident last year I’ve felt the same. I’ve really liked muddy and millennium stands ladder stands. Without experience , I wouldn’t be able to share thoughts on other brands. I look forward to hearing what you all figure out.

Milliumum ladder stands are the most comfortable especially the L110 single seat, there not the cheapest stand but you get what you pay for, I bought some other stands at Rural King and it’s junk and uncomfortable 😔

you cannot bait in IL, ...but you can plant fruit trees, you can leave standing crops, you can place food plots, you can hang a scent rope. some things just dont make sense.

    Don,
Hunting turkeys is very similar to hunting deer. Anyone can kill a deer or turkey but killing a mature turkey or deer takes some extra effort. However, from someone who has hunted both turkeys and deer since the 80's I can say that killing a mature buck is generally a little tougher than a mature turkey.
If I was a betting man that turkey you heard gobbling its head off wasn't a mature bird.

Take a look at Family Traditions Treestands. Made in America (Michigan) I have heard they make a high quality product. Ladderstands, hang ons, ladders, platforms..etc.

Unfortunately I cannot disagree more with don when it comes to the age structure in Illinois I think it’s all local hunting pressure and if there is a lot or hardly any..I know of two areas where giants seem to be around every corner

I have been hunting multiple counties in the state of Illinois for 47 years. I saw the Illinois deer herd rise from nothing to the best in the nation and then the downfall. Overall, the state of Illinois' deer herd is in the worst shape from a quality standpoint that it has been in roughly 30 years. Sure, there will be pockets of good age structure centered around specific properties but I am talking across the board. Actually, it is so blatantly obvious to anyone who has been a serious deer hunter in Illinois for at least 30 years that it isnt even debatable. I am blessed to have access to better properties than the average Illinois deer hunter and if you do as well you should also consider yourself blessed and realize that everyone else doesnt have the same opportunity that you and I do.
