I agree basically. FSU should be a gimmie, should be. LSU is currently #8, like TENN was when we coached ourselves out of a win. If we play like we did vs TENN and have better coaching, a win is within reach. Ole MISS Is on the bottom end of the Top 20, so you would think that game is winnable, as well. As for UGA and UT. We have to show up. I wouldn't give up on those either away either because #1 has fallen already this season. The D plays like their hair is on fire and the O goes downfield and we have a chance vs anyone.
One of the reasons stated when we fired Mullen was that he was only able to recruit in the top 10 and we need to be able to recruit in the top 5 to have a chance to get a natty. So we hired Napier under the pretense that he could get us back to where we needed to be in the recruiting. I don't give a f*** if he wins this year or if he wins next year, the question is can he get us back into the top five in recruiting?
The team is heading in the right direction. They have improved. If they keep improving and end up with six wins I think Coach Napier deserves another year but he really needs to hire an OC.
I've said it many times and I'll say it again! I believe in Coach Napier. He will turn this team around give him one more year to prove himself! He needs a year 4
What we win 2 or 3 game and now he's getting another extension? Come on guys. Let this season play out and see what we look like after a few more games. We want to be back so bad and we did look better the last 3 weeks but but but lets just sit back and enjoy actually winning a game or two. Go gators.
What bothers me, is that we still lack the positive reinforcement from everyone. Napier needs more time and has proven he can take this team to the next level. It takes time and we have lost players now, yes he needs a OC but I’m telling you, Napier is the answer.
I don't hate Florida, but most of us expect more than being Kentucky level football program. If that is what is acceptable to you, then you're not going to like what any self-respecting Gators fan has to say about the state of Florida football post Urban Myer.
Since UF really doesn't want to cough up that buyout, a 6-6 season probably would save Billy's job. But I doubt that he will do that. Even "looking good" may be a long shot. But there could be a silver lining. If Billy gets fired at the end of the season, there may be more Quality replacement coaches to choose from.
I think Napier is going to win enough to save his job. I think Florida will beat someone this year that no one expects (I am assuming Ole Miss or LSU). I agree on the how you look. Having Georgia next is rough because that is the toughest opponent on your schedule and Kirby flat out hates Florida and wants to drill them every year based on what Spurrier did to Georgia when he played for Georgia.
I think a lot going on to keep Billy Napier Florida coach, first Lane Kiffin isn't looking as good at Ole Miss as he was before, Ole Miss fans were crying and upset he meant go to Florida now they're like we'll if he wants to leave I don't see that as such a bad thing... James Franklin amazing coach however a lot of dirty secrets coming out lately and that not looking good for one character. Last Billy Napier has this team playing really hard and they are together more then ever.
What about hiring an Offensive Coordinator. It might help him on game management and clock management. If we are keeping him will we make him hire an offensive coordinator?
You nailed it. Couldn't win against a team with a pulse. Of course, the Administration has $26 million as a reason to keep him, but they won't if they're serious about turning the program around. We already know what we've got in Billy. It's up to the UF Administration regardless of the record.
Ali, just be honest. I’ve seen his record against winning teams posted on Twitter. Can you please inform those in your comments begging for more Billy what that is and provide any example of when a coach like that has turned it around into championships. Let’s not tank the Gators another year, possibly lowering some players potential and settling for multiple bad recruiting classes in a row. But I know many are cheering for it because Billy is more important to most these commenters than UF and the players.
Loser Mentality to be ok with 6-6 HC to get another year when we already seen proof in the pudding he ain't good enough! An for people with this love affair for Billy trying to find and make any excuse just to give him another year is disgusting!
Wow just because we beat KY people are wondering if Billy job is safe WTF is wrong with people! Were gonna finish 5-7 again and Billy will be gone boosters already have the 💵 ready!
It’s a sad time when UF is satisfied with a 6-6 season. UF should be a place where they should be able to beat any team on their schedule. May not win every game but should be able to.
I don’t wanna keep a coach just because stricklin worries about how good it looks for his hire. I don’t want the UAA looking for an excuse to get to keep him that’s foolish.. We need the best possible coach we can get our hands on and I just haven’t seen anything in three years to say that he is the best possible thing that we can get our hands on... hasn’t 10+ years of mediocre to poor been bad enough?
Georgia really. Come on man. I'm a Gators fan as well but I'm also a realist. It might be more competitive than people think ,but I don't foresee us beating Georgia.
This is just such an awful mindset. Are we really to the point where we’re comfortable with 6-6. ARE WE REALLY happy with a coach that’s going 6-6 1. with an absolute dumpster fire of a recruiting class 2. when boosters gathered money to fire him and it leaked 3. when he has shown in back to back to back years that he loses games due to major coaching errors throughout games and opens seasons unprepared 4. when other programs are saying they passed up on him for THE EXACT REASONS he’s failing at Florida And for God knows why there’s this debate about him keeping his job when he’s failing at what we literally fired the last guy for and he’s doing it worse! I could go on and on and on. He’s lost the fans; he’s lost recruits. So what if his game day coaching improves the train is already off the tracks. We need to let him finish out the season, and Ron Zook him. I like the guy, I wanted him to succeed so badly, but enough with this beta mindset of well at least we’re trying. We’re the university of Florida for Christ’s sake.
@@volbound1700 absolutely. And I think in the summer I would’ve said yeah 6-6 is fine. Samford was a gimme, Miss St was a gimme, UCF didn’t turn out as good as we thought they would. That’s already 3 wins. When you take into account FSU and how bad they look now you’re asking Billy to win 2 games 2 whole games against actual SEC talent. It’s like we’re standing in front of him like he’s a toddler encouraging him that he can do it big guy. I also want to put that I know Ali is kinda just making this to show there could be a path, but this is something Hightop and some other guys have made videos about too and I think it’s absurd that we’re looking at record and only record to determine wether he gets another shot.
I am sick and tired of hearing about how we beat Kentucky. Kentucky was average at best. I'm a die-hard gator fan. In my opinion this does not change anything. They beat UCF, UCF is playing way below than what they should. Mississippi State not that good. I'm still not impressed with Napier. If he pulls off one victory against a ranked team in the last five games ,and I'm not worried about Florida State but then again you never know. Then I might say give him a chance
Beat Georgia and i think he keeps his job. Hard to do but very sinply put. Cant lose ro FSU of course. A split between LSU and Ole miss would be nice. Id really like to see something other than 5 or 6 wins. The Tenn loss , a game had in the bag will come and bite The Gators hard if dont do the aforementioned .
Look- we had good times under Spurrier and Meyer in 30 years. It’s not a good time right now. But anyone that assumes just bringing in a new staff will instantly fix this is wrong. These same people insisted the last 40 coaches be fired after 2 years and yet , HERE WE ARE. Try something different for a change. Y’all wanted Mullen gone after 3 successful seasons 🤣🤣😃😃😃😃😃 because of twitter and facebook comments. Y’all are delusional. I said fire his ass after Miami and Texas AM but that’s emotional. Go Gators
That's a simple question to answer. If he continues the success we have seen lately which means we go to a bowl game and win that he stays! Anything less than that he should be gone!
Napier didn't coach the team out of a win. Players dropping the ball, throwing to the other team, missing blocks, and not knowing if they are on the FG team or not is what costed Florida the win.
IF the team is competitive he stays. If we look incompetent I.E MIAMI and tamu then he’s gone. I think it’s that simple. As a person who has played and coaches sports sometimes shit doesn’t go your way but just looking like a mess is unacceptable on all levels
If they had beaten Tenn and could win 1 more plus FSU maybe. The problem is the BAD COACHING that cost of the TENN game will not change....same coach, same mentality. My 2 cents worth.
The thing that convinces me that he should go is recruiting. Right now we’re sitting in a horrible spot with recruiting and are even losing commitments every other week now. The high school recruits don’t believe in Napier and with Billy’s hot seat drama still continuing on next year won’t help recruiting too. He’s a good guy and best case scenario a mid average SEC HC. He’s not the guy to take us to the promised land.
Why would any recruit go to a school when they don't know who the coach is going to be. When there are constant talks and videos that Napier should get fired, Florida won't get any recruits! Winning, being competitive will fix recruiting.
Coach Napier needs a more imaginative offensive coordinator--- If you don't believe it, watch the red zone play calling in the Tennessee , KY game. We beat UK because Lagway's ability to throw dimes in the vertical pass game added a dimension to the offense. If Coach Napier does not give up his pedestrian play calling, I say part ways. If he goes out and gets a play caller I say he should stay.
If Lagway keeps playing like he has been, we will pull off an upset and obviously beat fsu, I think kids we see the talent in Lagway and kids are going start committing to us
The all-important question: Is the improvement due to coaching or a generational talent (Lagway) good enough to mask the coaching deficiencies?? Is Napier capable of elevating a team without special talent? The answer is obvious at this point. I'm wrong about a lot, but not football coaches. Is it honestly beneficial to our program to retain him after a 6-6 season & another subpar recruiting class....or delaying the inevitable? Time to move on
He is a LOSER! His wins have a combined 10-21 record. Kentucky just got thumped by Auburn and his recruiting class is ranked 50th. If they keep him another 3 years we will turn into Nebraska
My biggest concern at this point is that we don't have a recruiting class...... I mean, we have a worse 2025 class then some MAC teams.... I mean, we are FLORIDA, and at a school like this you have to win AND recruit well, it can't be one or the other, especially with the teams we play against..... Napier I'd an exceptional human being, but "ultimately" he's not an SEC caliber coach.... the SEC is just different..... we HAVE to move on, no matter howuch it hurts, it's just time unfortunately
I mean yes, we are playing MUCH MUCH better since the BYE, but tbh, Billy Napier is single handedly the ONLY reason we didn't beat Tennessee, pur player won the game 100%, Napier lost us that game, that's unforgivable and these players DESERVE better then to have someone who leads them into battle only for their leader to cost them everything...... there is no coming back at this point, I've got a Gator tattooed on my chest, if Napier is back next year, I WILL get that tattoo covered up, I mean, he's embarrassing our program right now, none of this is ok anymore and I'm sick of it
Only way we should keep Billy? Ok so I'm at a loss? It's his play call and how he holds back his talent.if Billy could run the table this year I would consider keeping him but how are we going to get him to change his play calling the boys have to work really hard to make that look good or even work ? I wanted Billy to be the man but I don't think he has what you need to have in the SEC ? GO GATORS GATORNATION FOR LIFE REGARDLESS WIN OR LOSE
If They bring in a new coach they're essentially restarting the rebuild process back to ground zero......Not only that but UF schedule next season is basically the same in terms of difficulty.........Long story short I dont see a coach coming in a doing much better than .500 in year 1. And we can bet year 2 & 3 for the new coach wont be any easier. JUST SAYING. Might need to keep Billy. He just needs a high caliber OC!! Needs offensive creativity.
If his seat cooled after just one game, we have bigger problems. Cooling after beating a 3-4 Kentucky team at home? A Kentucky team that sits just ahead of Auburn and Miss St as the worst team in the SEC standings? Are we Vandy now? We are 4-0 against teams with a combined 10-17 record, none with a winning record. And Billy, poor Billy, just can't seem to get it up for big games. He always folds like a cheap lawn chair, makes multitudes of bad decisions and players seem to feed off that and here comes all of the penalties. How many false starts, 12 men on the field, roughing the QB, PI, block in the backs, chop blocks, faking injuries, sitting on the ball to end the half, not going for 2 when he should have, etc. are we going to have over the next 5 games? EDIT: The other issue is look at the 2025 recruiting class. It's currently ranked 51st, the worst ranking any Gator program has had since recruiting rankings began. We might have no choice but do what FSU did last year and rebuild the team from the portal. You know we are going to lose quite a few players once the season is over.
Suppose that instead of firing Billy (when you blow it up we start over again) the boosters used the 25 million buyout to pay the best lineman and or players to plug any holes we have the NIL it costs to bring them here. I don't pretend to know all the rules, but I know money talks. How much does it cost to bring in the best receiver, O line, d line players in the nation to come to Florida? 1million per player? 2 million each would bring in 12 of the best players in the nation, forget recruiting freshmen that may get good in 2 years. You get one killer class and the recruits will come. Money talks! Thats all these kids care about! It's a business now, start treating it as a business!
It took injuries to Mertz and Johnson, among others, for Napier to put a winning team on the field. While his loyalty to some losing players and coaches/coordinators can be seen as admirable, the facts are that he is either a lousy judge of talent or too stubborn and narrow-minded to make the changes that are required for UF to consistently be competitive again. His highly touted recruiting prowess is a mirage according to the ratings of his recruiting classes. Say what you will about Etienne, but he was RB #2 at UF, goes to Athens (where there is a coach who can actually recruit) and instantly becomes their #1 - scoring loads of TDs. And Baugh was stuck in the Gator line-up as #3?? There is plenty of talent onboard for the next coach to get UF back in the hunt. UF should not have to underwrite Napier's poor play calling and game management hoping he grows into an SEC level coach. The light bulb did not suddenly turn-on for Napier, his players finally overcame his coaching! Before too long, we will see more instances of 12 players on special teams, 3rd down passes behind the line of scrimmage, and "scared money", a total lack of passion or emotion from him on the sidelines, and loads of stupid penalties..We can get rid of about 150 of his staff along with him, and get back to winning football games again.
Sorry ali but you are huffing extreme copium on this one. It is year 3 at UF. There is absolutely no excuse for am argument to be made that a possible 6-6 is worth keeping his job. He has had the time with the program to put his guys in place. This roster is now a pure reflection of our coach. Mediocre 6-6 seasons are not acceptable here. No amount of gaslighting is going to change that he is done at end of year. Beating inept teams doesnt change anything. I genuinely hope he is let go right before fsu game. The absolute worst case scenario is if he gets another year. A lame duck year will set our program back even more. The money is raised. He needs to go. If he had a shred of integrity he would fire himself like spurrier did.
I’ve been watching this channel since almost the beginning. I have never disagreed with you more Ali. Recruiting is in the dump and it’s not going to recover. I’m willing to bet we don’t get another recruit. Also the fact we are talking about getting to 6-6 is all I need to know Billy has to go.
Stricklin isnt going to fire Billy.... and there is no college president and the interm guy doesnt care about athlectics ans has plenty of issues. Like it ot not we are stuck with sling blade for at least another year. It only took him 3 years to figure out practice has to be hard... who knows what he will learn out of a 4th loosing season
Ali. Why does everyone keep bashing the play calling in TN game. Its the same calls in UK game. Even the GNFP said so on your show. We just executed better in UK game. And we still had a chance to win. Just 1 less mistake and we win that TN game. The mertz fumble alone would have won us the game. At some point we have to realize its about execution.
6-6 that’s just so sad how far UF have fallen from grace accepting 6-6 record 🤦🏿♂️. It’s sad 🐊 RUclips channels are accepting 6-6 and 7-5 and 7-6 records.
I've got news for you Ali, Florida is going to beat Georgia. It is going to be a wild game and in the end Florida will run away with a victory. Remember my words ....
He should have been fired already. I think this admin finds a way to keep him because Stricklin seems more like a saboteur than an AD. If UF keeps him and limps out of this season without at least beating Georgia and FSU, turning around an atrocious record against rivals, and has a sub-50 recruiting class, then there could be a catastrophic loss of support for the program. UF can't afford to keep him, which is why Stricklin will probably keep him.
I think Napier needs to win 2 of the next 4 to keep his job. FSU is garbage this year like every other team we have beaten. Napier needs to actually out coach somebody to keep his job IMO
A fan for over 50 years. If they are only going to be happy winning against non ranked teams with Billy or get back to what Florida was then I am done with collage football. Florida needs to move on from Billy no matter how great of a guy he may be.
Napier 2025. A coach going from a lower tier league needs time to learn to how to be head coach in the SEC. Just like a player going from high school to college and college to the pros. Plus the University of Florida can’t pick a good coach anyway to just him.
I am sorry, but, even if Billy manages to eke out 6 "W"s, he should be fired. Bills is not a Championship caliber coach. When you see him coach, on the side lines, or doing the press, do you see Spurrier or Myers or Saban or Kirby Smart in Billy, not even remotely close. We, Gators do not have a bright future, or much of any future, with Billy coaching us, he needs to go yesterday and We need to hire a great coach, like Tennessee did and like Ole Miss did.
So we should be ok with 6 and 6 season and say we are ok. No we should be a top tier team and Napier ain’t the coach to do that we have a really good team but a sucky head coach
It's not about LOOKS , it's about WINS AND LOSES , LOOKS IS WHAT HAS FLORIDA LOOKING OUTSIDE THE FENCE. NAPIER IS NOT A TOP TIER COACH , JUST THAT SIMPLE
3rd year to realize practice needed to be competitive and D simplified? Coaching miscues as bad is this channel is great!
If Cignetti gets basement dweller IU to the playoffs, then he's the clear cut top choice. He has that "it" factor and killer mentality of the great ones
Prediction : UF sits on their hands, keeps Billy, Coach Cig goes to an arch rival like FSU and pounds Billy for 2-3 years before we finally fire him.
Cignetti’s 63 years old, he’s gonna ride off into the sunset as the greatest Indiana coach of all time. He’s not going anywhere and starting over.
stuck with Billy boy and his massive salary buyout..If Florida gets pounded by Georgia and not competive..he should be gone

Ok, but can Stricklin still go? How did he survive the scandals?
Why is it taking so long to hire a president btw?
Why do you hate UF?
I don't hate Florida, but most of us expect more than being Kentucky level football program. If that is what is acceptable to you, then you're not going to like what any self-respecting Gators fan has to say about the state of Florida football post Urban Myer.
So much beta
Let's have this conversation after Georgia. I think the matter will be settled.
What about hiring an Offensive Coordinator. It might help him on game management and clock management. If we are keeping him will we make him hire an offensive coordinator?
@@lexmtaylor that would be nice but I don't see that happening anytime soon he's going to end up getting fired after the Florida State game
@@lexmtaylor have a nice but I don't see that happening he will be fired after the Florida State game
You nailed it. Couldn't win against a team with a pulse. Of course, the Administration has $26 million as a reason to keep him, but they won't if they're serious about turning the program around. We already know what we've got in Billy. It's up to the UF Administration regardless of the record.
If they keep this energy through the end of the season, I think we will win 7 or 8 games
You're joking right. Will be lucky to go 6-6.
Florida 8-3
I am wanting to join the show as a guest from fans perspective. Would love to chat and see if we align on some Napier opinions
A lot of espn insiders are saying the majority of coaches think the North Carolina job is more desirable than Florida
It’s because of standard of UF.. Gators want SEC and National Championships. At SC if you go 8-4 or 9-3 they might build a statue
UF is and will always be the better job then UNC period.
@@blameitonkj4882 UF is still a top 10 job in college football and still considered a destination job!
Ali the Gators will be keeping Coach Napier. Also the Florida Gators will beat uga. Great podcast! Thanks, for taking the time.
Georgia really. Come on man. I'm a Gators fan as well but I'm also a realist. It might be more competitive than people think ,but I don't foresee us beating Georgia.
@@DTRD-uu3tr💯
lol, you’re fng high
No way Georgia is a 21-point favorite
We are going to beat ga and I think our defense plays really tough and we get some more pics. Go gators
I don't want us to pull a Mullen with Napier. Something has changed, not Tebow speech change, but a fire is brewing.
I went to that game. the pieces are falling into place, i can see Florida going back to glory
1.5 weeks ago BN cost us a WIN at UT. I dont care about rankings or spreads. That's non sense! Napier is not cut out for the SEC! period.
I would hate to get rid of him and then get stuck with another coach that can't recruit. Unpopular opinion: I think we give him all year and next.
This is just such an awful mindset. Are we really to the point where we’re comfortable with 6-6.
ARE WE REALLY happy with a coach that’s going 6-6
1. with an absolute dumpster fire of a recruiting class
2. when boosters gathered money to fire him and it leaked
3. when he has shown in back to back to back years that he loses games due to major coaching errors throughout games and opens seasons unprepared
4. when other programs are saying they passed up on him for THE EXACT REASONS he’s failing at Florida
And for God knows why there’s this debate about him keeping his job when he’s failing at what we literally fired the last guy for and he’s doing it worse!
I see your point but a lot of it was the dumbass scheduling. A lot of teams would struggling to make a bowl game with that schedule.
💯 💯
I doubt they'll do anything until the NIL lawsuit is over. It's not even worth discussing!
Keeping Lagway should be a priority
Probably comes down to the Ole Miss Game.
Recruiting isn't going to turn around any time soon under Napier.
I could totally see some scenario where they beat UGA and LSU or Ole Miss, but sleep on FSU and lose. What do they do with CBN then?
UF thinks it’ll cost them around 50 million if they fire him. If he wins 1 more he’s safe
#keepBilly
Coach Napier needs a more imaginative offensive coordinator--- If you don't believe it, watch the red zone play calling in the Tennessee , KY game. We beat UK because Lagway's ability to throw dimes in the vertical pass game added a dimension to the offense. If Coach Napier does not give up his pedestrian play calling, I say part ways. If he goes out and gets a play caller I say he should stay.
Miami is going to be #1 soon. Getting beaten by them is plausible. We're a whole different place than FSU, or UCF, etc.
I mean yes, we are playing MUCH MUCH better since the BYE, but tbh, Billy Napier is single handedly the ONLY reason we didn't beat Tennessee, pur player won the game 100%, Napier lost us that game, that's unforgivable and these players DESERVE better then to have someone who leads them into battle only for their leader to cost them everything...... there is no coming back at this point, I've got a Gator tattooed on my chest, if Napier is back next year, I WILL get that tattoo covered up, I mean, he's embarrassing our program right now, none of this is ok anymore and I'm sick of it
Billy ain't getting fired so y'all might as well get used to it now 🤣
Only way we should keep Billy? Ok so I'm at a loss? It's his play call and how he holds back his talent.if Billy could run the table this year I would consider keeping him but how are we going to get him to change his play calling the boys have to work really hard to make that look good or even work ? I wanted Billy to be the man but I don't think he has what you need to have in the SEC ? GO GATORS GATORNATION FOR LIFE REGARDLESS WIN OR LOSE
I think we know who BN is by now. Not a championship coach
Just rewatch the tenn game then let's chat.
Dan Pearce where you at now?
Really? Napier fumbled on the goal line? Napier threw two interceptions?
It's 50/50 on staying - 6-6 will save him unless they lose @ fsu
But what if he goes 6-7 losing in a bowl game
6-6 is gross!! Cant stand Napier as a HC.
I want lane kiffin now .
😂
6 & 6 at the least.
And show you are completive
Got to make a bowl game and that's not great for us gators
GNFP also said we win the TN if we had “even just an average play caller”.
😂😂
UF absolutely has to make him hire an offensive coordinator! Tennessee loss on Billy.
This isn't the Gator standard. I don't want a coach with a losing record after 3 seasons. UAA is completely trash and I for one am sick of it.
I think Napier needs to win 2 of the next 4 to keep his job. FSU is garbage this year like every other team we have beaten. Napier needs to actually out coach somebody to keep his job IMO
Florida can't afford to take a chance on this Napier guy. CIGNETTI should be his replacement immediately after the last game. Zero room for antics .
UF needs a splash hire and a proven HC
Napier wants to keep his job? Minimum 7 wins (f$u, LSU, and a Miss-UGA-Texas steal) and a top-5 class by early signing day.
Fire HIM!!! Wins and only wins matter. I bet you Eric feels the same way.
The Gators will not beat Georgia
So we should be ok with 6 and 6 season and say we are ok. No we should be a top tier team and Napier ain’t the coach to do that we have a really good team but a sucky head coach
As long as Billy is the offensive coordinator and play caller, the team is doomed. Doomed I say.
Florida will not be competitive against Georgia lol
It's not about LOOKS , it's about WINS AND LOSES , LOOKS IS WHAT HAS FLORIDA LOOKING OUTSIDE THE FENCE. NAPIER IS NOT A TOP TIER COACH , JUST THAT SIMPLE
keep billy for many more years....he can fix everything broken....gbo
No he is not we should be undefeated right now he is not a sec coach he sucks as a player caller. We have really good players but a sucky head coach.
