This is like the guy who just turns up at your party and you're all "Who's THAT guy? Who invited HIM?" and then by the end of the night he's your new best friend, you've asked him to be best man at your wedding (to a girl he just set you up with) and he's taught you how to (FINALLY) moonwalk properly. Just because. Yeah, this guy.
You've just put in to words how I feel about this fella, thank you. I discovered him in 2010 and spent a weekend watching every video he had. Ive repeated that a couple of times since. He's introduced me to some absolutely unbelievably good music. Thanks funk. Hope you and yours are good.
you are the fucking man....a straight up hero of mine. You turned me into a sample junkie when I was like 16 and I been diggin ever since. That was about 10 years ago now, glad to see you're still doing your thing my man
keep on followin ya since i donno...still shocked fo tha pills of gold you are continue to pull out from the crates.. i will never stop watching your videos. thx to share your happy soul with us. you always made my day. Thanks Grazie gracias merci danke
Because of your first video doing Hip Hop samples, I got really into it. Now you're back!!! Awesome. The thing is, I recognize most samples, but never can come up with the artist and/or title! So fruststrating sometimes. But because of you, you can't forget it, you're bringing it so nicely to the crowd! Greets from a beatmaker (sampler) from The Netherlands!
i am searching for the names and or sample of 2 songs same beat/sample. 1 song is on sublime acoustic cd. other is a unknown biggie smalls song. the beat is like a summertime feelgood beat. beh beh beh ba beh
Yo Funktual, I was just listening to Some WAR, as soon as you put the song on I knew it was Poor Righteous Teachers! I shared this one on FB. I was getting down bro, thanks for doing this shit man, I love it!!
Hell yeah, top ten hip hop samples is back, my dude Funk is back, got cold brewskies in the chiller, bout to change out my work threads and get into some grooves! Sidenote, that rapping duke episode was so money, u don't even know brother! I asked my grandpa who rapping duke was he laughed and said "that was one of the first rap parody tracks" then we spent the rest of the evening with my cousins repeating the Aretha Franklin part over and over. Good times, good times. Stay in the groove Funk!
I saw De La Soul live in 1996. After the gig they were hanging out at the bar in the venue and I walked up to them to say thanks, and to ask them a sampling question. I was a neophyte to the sampling game at that time so pretty common stuff was still a mystery to me. I walked up to Posdnuos and said "Hey, where did the drum break for "Saturdays" come from?" and he said "It's from a Tower Of Power album.... The one with the pinball machine on the cover." I felt like he'd just revealed the holy grail to me. These days I cringe because that was such an obvious sample to anybody with knowledge!
+JJM3rd Dont cringe brotha, great story! Id seen them around cause i had a residency spinning at The Bulldog Grille in Amityville for a couple years. (7pm-3am Fri-Sat) Light stuff during dinner and then amp up The Funk by 9:30 and then Old School Hip-Hop @ Midnight for 3 years. 8 hour $ets! Best. Gig. Ever.
I hate you Funkt!! Naw, man, I have mad respect for you. But I hate the way when you play these old school cuts that I have and own, I just wanna update my library, blow off the dust from my collection, recharge my mp3 player, bust out the speakers with the subwoofer and dance my ass off to these same classic jams. All this while trying to play the parent role in my household.
its about funkin time.... the revolution may not be telivised but at least the funktual is ! hell yeah welcome back bro... glad your doing well! thanks as always for your videos
+Shawn Tewes I think that's the Creative Source version of Who is He. Those same Gladys drums tho are from The Most Beautifullest Thing is this World and Silent Murder by Nas
+trey11215 Those two blew my mind as well. All the props must be given to the Detroit Butcher. Tony Ro and I meet on Facebook like every night to work mixes for the show. Usually i have an idea what I want and he puts it together for me. We tweak it, very collaborative. One day he's like "Yo I got something for you" and it's that Cypress Jimi mix. I had no idea it was the sample before hand, ALL Romanov. Now I got Lou Paris makin them too. if anyone wants to contribute just hit me up on facebook, we have a huge list of content to do still. 2016!
12:44 ive always wondered too, and now I know. Subscribed to the mailing list. Glad to see you still got that love and passion for the FUNK! Cant stop wont stop. Sample junkie for ever!
The energy you show in your videos is the same energy I try to put out when at work when blasting my tunes at work and dancing and singing( I work in a manufacturing plant). Much appreciated and I am a subscriber FO LIFE. Keep bringing it, son

+Gabriel Subia I like the way you think. That's Rufus. He's my....intergalactic conduit. He looks like Venus Flytrap in a pimped out purple spaceship like the one in my all-time favorite RUclips video ever: Funk Upon A Time In The Chocolate Milky Way [P-Funk Cartoon]
+DJ Funktual lol Haven't seen that one, but will definitely check it out. Good job on the Cypress Hill sample. You don't hear too much about them now. I thought you were going to do the two other samples from their song, the real left field ones that occur around the middle. Good stuff, though. Keep on teaching us, Prof.
