@@diversekcox i love the 414 it was my first mic but i sold it for a u87. I hated the U87 as it is way too harsh in the mids and brittle highs. I stuck it out for 3 years until i couldn’t take it anymore then bought the eden. Sold the eden now back to the 414 and it crazy how its the least expensive of the 3 and it sounds much better. Im running it through a bae1073 pre

Wavy thank you for your video about this microphone this is one of the best videos about the LT 386 microphone this particular microphone will put you ahead of the class also it can mimic and sound like a lot of other microphones but it's a lot of microphones that can't sound or mimic the way that they eating 386 microphone sounds like and what it can do appreciate you G-Man

My top pick cost no object I prefer a Brauner VMA through a Neve Portico II Channel. Mogami Gold or Transparent Audio cables. I prefer the Lawson L251 tube sound over the Lauten and its less expensive too.

Great mic. 1st time I heard of it was Cardi B’s Engineer Michael Ashby who I went to school with and it sound amazing. But I still prefer my Slate Digital Vms Ml1. Best bang for your buck

@@fantaztikbeatz Nah I have the UA 710 Twin-Finity which has a tube and solid-state in it. Sounds great with the ML1 and the fact that I can blend the tube and solid-state together just gives me even more options on top of what I already get with the VMS

I can afford this mic, but like someone said, inflation is hitting really hard. This mic was $2500 a short time ago, and the price has skyrocketed. However, I do own the Lauten LA320, but I've been using my Mojave 300, and both mics sound good; the U87 used to cost $3500 to $3600, and now Lauten caught up with what I believe to be (Snake Oil) to a degree with these mics most demonstration in mic comparison sound the same which lead me to think you can only go so far with a good mic and if you use a $1200 mic you will probably yield the same results if used correctly, Um I didn't take Cardi B serious when she came out with (Red Bottom). Now engineers use her name as a reference point on mics?
In my opinion, Inflation is because labels don't want artists home recording anymore so there's an industry agenda to try to price gate harder for professional quality sounds.
@@alpharellix No sir inflation means that the value of fuel and Materials went up so since they are paying more for the fuel to transport the the product and the materials they go up on the prices to make up the difference. And guess who suffers the consumers. We need the product so we pay more and work 2 to three jobs to pay it because the job wages never goes up with inflation

The Eden in the Forward voicing position sounds very much like a Manley Ref C or Sony C800g. Bright and in your face without being harsh. I'd pick the Eden for it's flexibility. In my opinion, it's three positions give you a U47-esque (gentle), U87ai-esque (neutral), and Manley/C800g-esque sounding mic all in one.
Lauten has a 3 year warranty on their own I believe.
Edit: I have this mic. I don't do rap, but it's stellar on everything I need it for.

I have an L22 also, do you find that sometimes it can have an untamable harshness to it, at times? To me it’s a resonant like harshness between 6-12k, something about it the sibilance just sounds artificial to me. And in some voices it doesn’t have that problem
Other than that I really think it’s a truly great mic
Just got my eden last week, and I have to say it just feels right
@@alstontyler4788 thankfully I can say I haven't experienced any 'untamable' frequencies as yet, but I am also only 3 years into my audio career so I'm sure I'll eventually find a reason to pull the trigger on a more expensive mic as I record more clients with differing vocal tones, but for right now the L22 has been my best investment!
What types of genres/vocal types have you noticed the L22 is not ideal for?
@@jhevon that’s the thing I really love the tone on it, and it works great on all vocals, but at times there’s this broad frequency harshness that really shouldn’t be there because it’s even on non sibilant parts
I’m really starting to think that the mic is defective it almost sounds like the capsule has something loose
Im going to talk to the guys at Sweetwater and see what they think, i have only had it for a year
I really really love the mic but that harshness is something I can’t tolerate and once I hear it I can’t un hear it
