It's ironic that Niji was once calling out Holo for not doing enough to protect its livers, yet proceeded to throw pretty much every one of their ex- talents under the bus
I'm starting to understand why people hated Hololive at first. Good to know Hololive has changed for the better. Nijisanji can insult all they want and talk like they are on high ground, but they don't even bother to change after making mistake after mistake.
@@L16htW4rr10r Hololive never did anything wrong the hate comes form them not being able to do "more" to protect the talents. Aloe Mano was made to graduate because the japanese didn't like her comments on other vtubers before she debut. Also the overseas didn't like how she used Auto-Tune but we didn't hate her for it. It was just bad luck.
Also, how bold Nijisanji and their fans are, when they also participated in the harassment campaign. Why? Is it because what her PL said about Chitose is actually true? You know, deliberately denying your liver the support she needed in her music career is also a form of bullying. It is practically the same reason why Melissa graduated.
The d_ldo sashimi is such a great story, too. It was used as evidence against her, but it was actually a case of her handling a situation really well. It was a gift from a fan. A super creepy, awkward gift from a fan. She's since talked about it, and explained that she clearly wasn't going to USE it, and she wasn't going to keep it. Throwing it out in one piece was also problematic... So she took a knife, sliced it up, and arranged it on a plate, sending a very clear message that such gifts were not welcome. Honestly it was such a power move and should have been treated with respect.
What? Deletaya Streams almost daily and is at 299k subs as an Indie and currently fine after Haviing the same "It ain't your time yet" slap in the face by Fate like Sayu, Doki, and more recently Mikeneko had that changed their perspective on life and their so called "problems" Doki went full cynical though not quite the Joker....other then that last official statement about having to watch her Dad break down and cry for the first time in her life (her family and friends rushed to her after the black video) so she did that 2 attempt announcement as part of her gloves off statement before mic drop.......she claims imposter Syndrome but the Esports Merchants,Sponsers,127k ccv peak fans, and investors weren't exactly shy they were only orbiting Nijisanji for Selen ...so the Statement was meant to inform them of the full context As for DeleTaya she to has reached a point of happiness a support and I vaguely rememer her having her own place (she streams often but Im more a clip watcher and she isnt in my clip feed)
This is extra painful when you remember that this happened when Hololive was making it big. Sure, it was popular before, but by Gen 5 Holo was becoming THE vtuber agency, with all of the Gen 5 members nowadays having already 1 million subs. Had this not happened, Aloe would habe been one the biggest vtubers along with her generation.
one of the saddest What Ifs, so many amazing memories we never got to make at least, we can keep supporting Delulu & protect her smile now, so there is a happy ending, but still
This just shows that idiots on the internet can ruin it for everyone. She didn’t even get a chance to start and they forced her to graduate early. Screw twitter weirdos.
I'm just happy with the silver lining that everyone is OK in the long run. Gen 5 didn't flop like I feared post this. In fact, they're considered one of the best gens. Aloe is happy in her PL, not the best outcome, but thankfully far from the worst
Of all the graduations I've seen and heard about, this is one of the most devastating within the Vtuber sphere. Imagine making one mistake, and experiencing what she did. That is a fate I do not wish on any Vtuber or fan, and is a repulsive example of how idol culture can be very loud in a negative way. Shame on those who committed the wrongs towards her. On a much lighter note, I really do commend her comeback. She needs a lot of love even after what she's gone through.
Just for that? Why do so many amazing talents get hit so hard for tiny non-mistakes? "I forgot to delete the thing." "Ok let's delete it now, problem fixed."
@@idrathernot_2 Yeah. Normally joining a big corpo is good for the rep they have, but in holo's case the rep comes with the extra baggage of lotsa unicorns so it can backfire. I would say it's a shame that the number 1 is in the idol business, but it's what made them number 1 to begin with soo. Only thing left to blame is the culture.
@@idrathernot_2 not really, they constantly got scammed by 3rd party artists, backstabbing is a regular thing among indie vtubers, and if one of their circle "made it", they would drag that vtuber through the mud to ensured they stay the same as the rest.
@@RambleOn07 Basically that means holo didn't lean into idol culture, but the idol culture came to them? Damn, so this mess is 100% the fault of unicorns, fuck. How you gonna walk up, be the one to make your own assumptions, and then get mad when shit doesn't go the way you want? So dumb.
I would say this as an important message for anyone that is either a Vtuber, or is a fan of Vtubers: Watch the animated Japanese movie "Perfect Blue" from 1997, directed by Satoshi Kon. It is EXTREMELY educational in what compromises Japanese idol culture, parasocial relationships of fans, how fans view idols, and some of the things idols have to go through. It is a masterpiece, one of the best thrillers you will ever see, and the message it gives is loud and clear. I 100% believe that anyone that is a Vtuber, wishes to become a Vtuber, or simply enjoys watching Vtubers, should watch Perfect Blue.
Enjoyed seeing this live. Thanks to you, I went and found Delutaya on YT and thankfully she's still streaming regularly. I gave her a follow. What happened to her is just disgusting especially after having such a difficult childhood... I'm so happy she's gotten stronger after overcoming her lowest point in life. Ik this is a little selfish what I'm about to say, but it also helps she's Japanese because I need as much immersion as possible with trying to learn the language. So it's a win-win!
thx for the vid, RIma. I'm a delu fan from 2021, she made a huge growth through the last 2 years is insane. After her new live2d debut numbers spiked for her and with the numerous collabs with many vips in the music industry she gain so much. Right now she still growing in the indie jp sphere, we delumins we always support her, she taugh has how strong she can be despite everything that she endured.
I wasn't going to originally comment, but after speaking with you I thought I would. Thank you for handling this subject with the care that it deserves, I had been anxious because I didn't know how this would turn out, especially when other videos that have covered this topic have been... urgh. This is video has the most complete history of the events that happened, and is easily the best out there (even if it does have that America meme) so well done Watching it took me back to that time, there are so many painful memories, it really was a different time four years ago, back then most overseas fans thought vtubers were just sunshine and rainbows, a distraction from what was going on in the world, cute anime girls saying the 'n-word' we were naïve. I remember reading that 'concern' post at the time, and several others like it, those attacking her telling us to 'educate ourselves' as we didn't know what was going on... Truth was, when the suspension dropped, we were in the dark, we knew nothing, and due to that many of us did 'educate ourselves', and we ended up knowing the truth better than they did. Thing was, she wasn't wrong in the substance of what she said in the past stream, she warned about the dangers of black companies, and while she was wrong (and accepted she was wrong) in mentioning Chitose, she would be proven right on the substance of her message when Lulu graduated. Also, for anyone wondering, I originally disagreed with the hashtag campaign (as can be seen in the video) but I had joined MASS, and would later change my stance on it when I saw the harassment wasn't dying down. We did all we could to show her that she had support, but in the end it was not enough People may wonder why she had so much support when she only had three streams, but due to the antis, her past was unlocked to many of us, she showed a vulnerable side of herself in that past stream where she worried about joining a company as a vtuber and facing possible harassment, and yet she had the strength to face her fears and do it anyway, she displayed a sense of humour that could match Marine's, and that singing voice, she had serious talent. And then, all of that was taken from us. So we then did the only thing we could do, we watched the skies, a few of us wondered if there was anything we could have done differently, we wanted to know how it happened, the truth of the events so we could be better prepared should there be a 'next time' Then that fake twitter account appeared, the initial elation that she had returned which was then quickly dashed as you realise its a fake, before making it your mission to expose the fake and try to contact Delu to inform her about it. And when she did then come back, we all had sleepless nights when we found out just how bad things were, and tried to support her through it. during that time, the biggest lie that was ever told was "I'm going to bed" There are so many people both past and present that did so much to help support her, people in MASS during those fateful two weeks, people in QQ, people in DFS, and all of her other fans that supported her in their own way. Every fan deserves a thank you for their efforts and support. Another thing, with the Mikeneko drama, her 'source' Narukami came out on Delu's side saying he had no idea what Mikeneko was talking about, and he never said such things to her. But we shouldn't forget what happened and how it happened so we can try to stop something like this happening again, we shouldn't just blindly trust corporations, nor should we seek to harass people and seek to ruin their lives, especially as you never know the full story. Unfortunately many people forgot this warning from history when Zaion was terminated. Also seeing that clip of Delu visiting the DFS minecraft server makes me smile The Triangle is strong.
Thank you for your comment. I have been anxious about handling this topic as well and even pushed back this video for several months because I knew it had to be handled with care and it would be a monumental task to take on, so really I’m glad you believed it was well done as well
Its crazy how much everything has changed in just a few short years. This would be a blip on the radar today, and yet such nuclear toxicity was only a few short years ago.
That same toxicity is still very prevalent in the Japanese idol industry. Meanwhile the Western toxics are going after talent for playing Hogwarts legacy and other things like it instead of attacking them for not being seiso super virgins uwu. Don't even get me started on the Chinese and the way they behave about these kind of talents.
@@idrathernot_2 1. We're referring to the vtuber industry, which while somewhat parallel is still a different industry to idols and continues branching away as time goes on. 2. While absolutely going way too far, there is a difference between "I might have a boyfriend" screeching and "the creator wants certain people in concentration camps and explicitly stated the profit from the game would fund these ideologies" screeching. Ignoring that though and again you'll find that that incident was over a year ago with many people regretting their behaviour. 3. China really does have its issues, considering most Chinese fans are technically breaking their own laws to watch a lot of streamers and are so manipulated and nationalised it's a real problem even outside of the vtuber sphere
If I remember correctly this wad before hololive EN came out and back when Holo was mainly Japanese, Japanese fans have a loud minorti refered to as Unicorns, those are the same that wanted to get Towa and Rushia fired
@@Hyenadont I will say that vtuber is definitely owed a massive apology. Like as an ally I don’t like the idea of a certain author getting more royalties money that she can use to attack transpeople, but this was a miscarriage of mob justice. This was a young woman who isn’t fluent in English, likely doesn’t know about the boycott against the game, and is from a conservative country that hardly addresses LGBT issues. So yeah instead of actually doing what needs to be done to support trans people, it was a lynch mob.
I wasn't into Vtubers back when all of the drama unfolded, but after falling down the rabbit hole, every time I hear about her, part of me thinks she should've been there doing 3D concerts with her genmates, cranking out covers, doing collabs and everything else the talents do regularly. It's sad knowing she wasn't able to live out what many consider the dream, but it's even more tragic knowing how deeply it all affected her with everything else that happened in her life. But it is nice knowing she had fans who had her back and helped her pick herself back up.
I have a few clips of Aloe bookmarked. Found them shortly after she had left, and the real heartbreakers on them are the pre-graduation comments. So positive and hopeful, her fans had no idea how short-lived it would all be. Truly one of Hololive's darkest blemishes; the time when the community itself turned on one of their own. If the international fandom had been the size it is today, it would've been enough to turn the tide and save her. Rima, thank you for reminding us of our failure. It's a failure we should never, ever forget, nor should allow ourselves to forgive those who took her from us.
I doubt that even with the current size of the international audience would've been able to keep her in Holo. The way the cards were stacked against her was quite ridiculous, it would not have negated all the bs she had to experience both online and IRL. The way that the Japanese antis harassed her, the graduation probably would've been inevitable no matter what.
@@Fishman465 You're right, it could've gone either way. She was still a kid when all this happened, and not in the best support network to cushion her against the blowback. Still, it's one of those huge what-ifs of vtuber history.
Where I come from it's "forgive, but never forget". I'm ofc not an expert, but I suspect the root of all this lies in Niji's management or HR. I mean no matter the personalities of different vtubers; that kind of behavior is something that gets enabled.
I still love Mano's design, hers was the one that caught my attention the most when the 5th generation was showcased, the lore of her tiny horn was something I wanted to see
They are toxic from the start. They started as angry little dogs barking at almost everyone else, and then when they became the largest, they became the Gestapo in all their ways.
At the time of her debut and soon-after graduation, I remember thinking that this girl would have been EASILY one of the biggest Vtubers in the industry if she had stayed with Hololive. I still think that, but the sad "what ifs" are always brightened a little bit by the fact that she's doing a lot better today.
26:00 Fans once pointed to Nijisanji and Anycolor as standout examples of corporations that protect their talents from harassment. Oh, how the turns have tabled.
Damn, Im crying my eyes out such a strong story that resonated in me. I have been depressed for a long time and Im not a stranger to unaliving thoughts when it gets bad so this hit me hard. Im so glad she didnt manage and survived and can reach for her dreams with the support of her fans. Even just kind words can have unbelievable strenght to someone that is struggling at the moment. For anyone else that is struggling... You are not alone. It will pass. There are still ppl thinking of you that will miss you and will support you. You are worth it and its not your fault ❤❤❤❤
When I saw a music feat. DELUTAYA in my youtube feed (REDALiCE - Dawning Sky), I immediately took a listen. It became one of my favorite music recently. It kinda makes me feel proud of her since she's kinda back in business now after everything.
I'm especially glad that despite how close to succeeding in her sudoku and how badly injured she was due to that, that she still recovered enough to be able to continue singing and doing what she loved all along.
Only knew of her by images and that she barely was ever around. Watching this vid truly made me teary on some cases. No one deserves to be treated in such a way and I am glad she was able to have people there to keep her going. This video was amazingly done.
To this day, I still feel kinda sad whenever I hear Happy Synthesizer, that was the song that made me think "This girl's got a bright future if she can sing this well on debut", and being a part of the MASS group I was and still am devastated that she's not a part of Hololive... It still feels like we failed her as fans...
I was there before she debut to the debut stream. She suddenly did an auto-tune song and you know how we make fun of that in the west like T-Pain who abuses auto-tune coz he cant sing. She can definitely sing but she used auto-tune which was bad taste in the west.
This story is really sad, especially so as she's so adorable, not to mention strong. Its incredible to think she still made a comeback after everything she went through. Its hard not to feel supportive of someone who went through so much and still stands up and pushes forward.
15:48 I have to say whoever wrote that made essentially the essay equivalent of Nijisanji's negligible; as in their usage of the English language is poor due to how they came off. They came off as condescending, aggressive and just outright arrogant in their own right. And because of that, despite them saying they didn't want to cause division they way the wrote it pretty much gives the overseas fans a reason to figuratively give them the middle finger and still cause division.
When someone asked me why I hated Nijisanji, this was one of those incidents that cause deep seated hatred I have towards that company. Looking at it now, its funny cause what she said about black companies was foreshadowing what Kurosanji is revealed to be.
Oh... this one really makes me sad Mano Aloe is the reason why I watch vtubers now I wasn't even someone that watches too much youtube but got recommended on my feed a clip of Holo5 debut like the day after I remember getting hooked to Mano Aloe's design, voice, singing and personality immediatly She was my oshi for those exact 2 days, even before knowing that the word oshi even existed then I got heartbroken when everything happened When everything happened I did my best to find out where did she go, took me a few days back then but she went into radio silent there too I remember activating twitter notifications for the first time in my life because I needed to know how was she doing god it made me so happy when she came back to stream and like 2 years and something after debuting a L2D To this day I still have notifications on for her twitter on my personal account and I watch her stream as much as I can If it wasn't because of Kiara debuting a bit after this incident I wouldn't even look at cover corp and still resent them for that suspension and how poorly they handled everything back then
Aloe really did not deserved that fate. As Delutaya she is going perfectly. But as someone else here in the comments said: *"This is Hololive's biggest **_'What if...?'_** "*
Killer video, even for your usual high standard! Hell of a story. So glad to hear she's doing better now. The internet is a whole thing but it's nice to highlight that sometimes it can do a lot of good, not just divide us.
That poor girl. Thank goodness the fans were there for her, otherwise I doubt she would have survived. Nobody should have to go through experiences like that.
Damn... I knew some stuff about how she left holo, but I had no idea about her revival as Delutaya and all the things that happened to her. It's absolutely amazing how her fans literally saved her life, after all the drama she had to endure. I salute all of her devoted fan-base, who went above and beyond to see their oshii recover and get better. That was an amazing story. I would like to believe the vtuber community has improved since that time, but I honestly don't know. I guess I can only hope we got better as well.
there really is a part of me that wishes to see what her career could have been if she could have stayed in Hololive... but I still enjoy watching a Delu-chan stream when i can..and glad she is in such a better place now.
The Delta being a sign of change makes perfect sense for her. Being a person who has attempted sudoku, you learn a lot from mental wards, you quite literally change, you learn to deal with your shortcomings and make peace with them.
Wow, Aloe gets smothered with hate because she wasn't "clean and pure as the wind-driven snow" when there was Kiryu Coco greeting everyone with "Good Morning M*therf**ker". Are people THAT lacking in awareness?
Red flags in what happened to her: 1. A 2 week suspension, for just one leak that may have built up hype. 2. "Image of a VTuber idol" sounds dangerously like putting someone on a pedestal. 3. What's wrong with having a past life? It's not like she committed crimes... okay, a derogatory joke is somewhat understandable, but does not justify what she went through. 4. Honestly, forbidding relationships in general should be against the law. 5. Anyone seen the horror game Parasocial? 6. Has anyone even heard of this "2 chan?" Honestly, Koefficient pretty much defined the average vocal idol fan and is why I prefer to view VTubers as content creators rather than idols.
These deep dives are very interesting and educational, especially when there's so much in the internet that can twist and confuse anyone who does a basic search of them. Thank you for taking the time and effort to go through as much as you could find, giving them context and order and staying as unbiased on it all as possible. i'll be checking the others you have made when able. Keep it up!
While this is a tragic story, it's one that needs to be told. Delutaya is awesome, and she deserves all the love and support we can give her after everything she went through. Great job on the video Rima! ❤
Too bad she gave up because of how much pressure the Nijisisters Chinese branch have put her through. If she didn't quit Hololive would've their own version of REOL/Fripside.
Did you even watch the video? It wasn't the Nijisisters CN branch putting pressure on her, you had antis on 2ch 5ch doxxing her and harassing her and people she knew Unicorns who were mad that she previously had a BF and made dirty jokes while as a teenager to her audience of teen girls JP nationals who were angry that she might prefer Korean men Vtuber fans who believed the lies that she had trash talked either Niji or Holo and broke an NDA and leaked either Holo contract info or Niji info And then there were the Nijisisters who attacked her for talking about Chitose, and spoiler alert, those Nijisisters were mainly from Japan. And unlike you, I know what I'm talking about here
@@mrfriedThe fourth one stemmed from a propaganda hitpiece by someone who was claiming to be a JP Hololive fan, but was actually outed as a Nijisister.
@@MICHAELTUMANGDAY No, but when you say things that are factually incorrect I will push back on it. Not only was I there and saw it unfold real time but in the immediate aftermath several of us asked the question "how did this come to pass" and also wondered if there was anything that we could have done differently so we could learn should anything like it happen again. So we dug, we investigated What we found was that the EN side was the only side that knew nothing, we had been out of our depth from the start I've seen the posts on 2ch and seen how they were attacking her even before she had debuted But to your point, I even read the CN forums because they too had been digging into PL stuff and were talking about it, and yet, unlike JP, they thought a lot of it was pretty based. They mocked the JP side for attacking her and started to actively support her. They did the Garden of Aloe, they did the letter writing project, all to show their support The CN side in the aftermath ended up being the biggest and more organised part of her fanbase The QQ leaders helped set up her fanbox and provided CN translations for her, they helped manage her wishlist, they helped organise the project to buy her a computer. I know it is fashionable to hate on the CN side especially since the Holo CN incident, but it really doesn't apply here. The CN side is still a big part of her fanbase, and it has supported her from the start
Back then I was actually one of those supporters on fanbox. When gen 5 debuted Mano Aloe was the one member I was looking forward to watching the most and then everything happened. A little while later by some miracle a video of a green haired anime girl singing popped up in my youtube recommendations and I was reintroduced to her as Delutaya. It was a reupload by someone else because as the video said she didn't stream on youtube back then. Looking into her more I discovered her fanbox and immediately started supporting her after learning about what happened. I was happy when she got her new model and I'm very happy to see how far she's come since then. Even though I'm not fluent in japanese, I'll always support her!
It's a shame that she had to graduate . She did nothing wrong (especially when you consider how many worse scandals took place in the Vtuber sphere since then). Also harassing a liver in their RL address is the lowest form of behaviour, it's below human.
8:35 I had only known that Nene was traced back to her non-virtual persona based on a piece of art she did, but never knew that it was art she drew of her mama. Fun fact: Both Nene and Nishizawa 5mm had collaborated together on a different project pre-Hololive.
the duality of things like Vtubing, Idol, and celebrity in general is always so jarring and interesting, especially because "both sides" (constructive and destructive) are fueled by the exact same energy just a matter of what lens that energy is filtered through thus is the reality of anything built around extreme fan engagement/reliance
I remember discovering Hololive in july 2020 and wasn't even familiar with everyone yet. I got exited to see that new people are coming and got confused why I only found clips of 4 of them. I wasn't following the news and discussion at all back then so it was a shock Aloe graduated. Tragic way to start being in the fandom but the happy note to my story is that Myth debuted shortly after.
As unbelievable as this comment may be, I've been in a similar situation to Manlo Aloe, so I feel for her in many... many ways. I am glad that she has managed to recover and find strength to push forward. She is a symbol of strength, she may be peaceful and simply desire a simple happiness, but she is incredibly strong to make it through everything, and she deserves all the good she gets. It is sad people can be so incredibly vile over such incredibly unfair biases, but the world is not kind, and all it wants to do is chew on people until they're no longer useful and spit them out. It's sad and disgusting, but... some people manage to find happiness, and I am really happy for her and hope her life only continues to improve and she can wake up happy on a regular basis.
We didn't know it at the time but this was the introduction to the Nijisisters essentially, cause they were the ones that were campaigning for Aloe's downfall and were the culprits surrounding her harassment. I know Aloe is doing ok now as her other persona but oh man this is the biggest 'What could've been' if things were different.
Fantastic job yet again, Rima~! And have youuuuu considered perhaps doing a deep-dive in the psychology of fandoms? Why they'd immediately idolize a person they'd never seen before, why they latch on to a character like a rabid pitbull, perhaps what societal differences there are between JP and NA supporters? 'Cause I'm really starting to get worried about how dangerous some of these people are when they would go after someone so fervently just for having a pre-debut tech test on a vod somewhere. Yikes~!
Man as a hololive fans in 2020 and 2021 were the days where we went to internet wars on multiple fronts, fighting external and internal threats, doubts and speculation was rampart, the fighting against the darkness of the future of vtuber was an experience i would never forget.
I love how Selective the fanbase is as seeing the jokes and them getting mad over that but then allowing Marine to do it and barely care about her doing it, then hearing about her family being not supportive for her when she needs the most, then her place where she can go away from it all she just get's the same treatment online too. from a looker seeing these VTuber companies from the outside it's sad to see how mean the community can be and wanting the go full Scored Earth on said VTuber who only did a minor mistake or sometimes doing nothing at all but being with a crappy company that is ran by Greedy CEO's, I hope she get's all the support she can get and has a brighter Future as man hearing this kind of makes me question about the Communities fanbase at times.
Man, this brings back memories... Aloe was my favourite of holo5 at the time of debut, and during the debacle I'd submitted a letter to M.A.S.S. to encourage her. I wish I'd had the money to join her fanbox when she came back as Delu. I'm so glad she's doing well now and I'm so proud of all she has achieved to this point! 💚💚💚 also, 11:25 Rima never beating the size-queen allegations lmao
as someone who was an early supporter of aloe, participated and close in M.A.S.S, as well as the early parts of Delutaya. i remember every single moment of it, it was horrible witnessing it for sure. I dont think ill ever forget it ever. Its a well covered video! described everything accurately.
Wow! you talked about the scammer, I was there, I was also there when she posted the photo of the hole in the wall, actually I was one of the first who said "how can we donate you?" Very good investigation, congrats!
As someone who has also come back from a suicide attempt (admittedly, I never got quite as far as Delu, but nonetheless...) I'm glad to see that she's doing better!
You, I would’ve never seen and heard about the stardom Aloe had if it wasn’t for FNF Holofunk giving her a chance. Even if it isn’t quite her. It’s such a sad thing that she called called down almost instantly
Like you said, her history is a proof of just how cruel the internet can be, I’m so so grateful she found a community that genuinely supports her, I wish I could give her a hug.
I remember watching a translation of the video where she talks about jumping and the hospital. I didn't know who she was or any of the backstory but it made me cry.
It never fails to amaze me how horribly toxic Idol culture is in japan and how often companies would soon rather make the talent take the fall for their screw up in order for them to look better, having the then idol take all the hate... AND THATS NORMAL OVER THERE. You saw a glimpse of it with Nijisanji, but people can see through the bullshit after it happened once. For japan idols there is a very high level of scrutiny and there is no forgiveness even if the company cuts you loose. Heart always goes out to the talents that ends up in that position.
Good deep dive. And really hope the best for Delutaya, from then to the future, I also did my own dive back during the situation so yeah I got the gist of it even back then. It really was hell to see how the fandom of that time (Especially the anti/harassers) was all out insane. The points they took up and the shit they talked about was so far gone on the lunacy scale that I was meddling and trying to talk sense into them, but they pretty much were non-conversational. It was a happy moment once Cover released their anti-slander system and attackers (yes, attackers, there was nothing civil about them) finally got an understanding what the fuck most of them were doing, but sadly too late. Thanks for the flashback of a horrible time of a lost smile that gained a more joyous smile, Rima.
it is disgusting to see Hololive "FANS" do this. how could you destroy someone you know nothing about and for no reason just to hate? it truly is just sad to see people who have such an obsession over vtubers do this. i bet you if the "FANS" could pick who they would like to be behind the vtuber they would not be able to choose one.
For the longest time, because of what happened to aloe, everytime a new hololive gen debuted, I had a fear one of them would go through what she went through. At least she seems to be doing great nowadays.
Its sad that Cover only started to truly take action after Aloe's incident. Stuff like that has been around for years, i mean Mel was literally harassed by someone she knew personally. It was solved with the police and court getting involved. Nijisanji claimed to join the move together with Cover, but in reality it was just lip service for them. The worse part of it all was probably the fact that Aloe did not break any NDA regarding her contract with Cover (other than the first one resulting in suspension). It was her letting out the story about someone she knew who was harassed by stalkers and had their real life identity exposed. I guess Chitose had a different contract for her batch maybe. Niji has people who are already married with kids as streamers, tho not sure if the guy still streams. Those who only do Niji work part-time, etc etc. They probably got a different contract than some others.
_"Its sad that Cover only started to truly take action after Aloe's incident."_ If you want to be the first person ever to provide a singular example of Cover so much as lifting a finger to protect Coco during the 8 months of suffering and isolation that followed her return from her suspension I'm listening. Cover only pulled out of China because the alternative was illegally firing Kiryu Coco at the height of her popularity and Niji'ing themselves immediately after launching HoloEN. Then they went back after things died down.

And then basically got bullied into leaving. It's cruel that people can just bully people like hell just for some issues.

It was just bad luck.
@@AeonmarkAloe was made to graduate because of a single, very serious incident, one that Cover has no control of: her own family.

I remember when this happened. She had so much potential and did not deserve what happened to her.
Just for that? Why do so many amazing talents get hit so hard for tiny non-mistakes? "I forgot to delete the thing." "Ok let's delete it now, problem fixed."
Hololive is the best large company for vtubers, but the independents are having a lot more fun.

Right now she still growing in the indie jp sphere, we delumins we always support her, she taugh has how strong she can be despite everything that she endured.
I wasn't going to originally comment, but after speaking with you I thought I would.
Thank you for handling this subject with the care that it deserves, I had been anxious because I didn't know how this would turn out, especially when other videos that have covered this topic have been... urgh.
This is video has the most complete history of the events that happened, and is easily the best out there (even if it does have that America meme) so well done
Watching it took me back to that time, there are so many painful memories, it really was a different time four years ago, back then most overseas fans thought vtubers were just sunshine and rainbows, a distraction from what was going on in the world, cute anime girls saying the 'n-word' we were naïve.
We did all we could to show her that she had support, but in the end it was not enough
People may wonder why she had so much support when she only had three streams, but due to the antis, her past was unlocked to many of us, she showed a vulnerable side of herself in that past stream where she worried about joining a company as a vtuber and facing possible harassment, and yet she had the strength to face her fears and do it anyway, she displayed a sense of humour that could match Marine's, and that singing voice, she had serious talent.
And then, all of that was taken from us.
So we then did the only thing we could do, we watched the skies, a few of us wondered if there was anything we could have done differently, we wanted to know how it happened, the truth of the events so we could be better prepared should there be a 'next time'
Then that fake twitter account appeared, the initial elation that she had returned which was then quickly dashed as you realise its a fake, before making it your mission to expose the fake and try to contact Delu to inform her about it.
And when she did then come back, we all had sleepless nights when we found out just how bad things were, and tried to support her through it. during that time, the biggest lie that was ever told was "I'm going to bed"
There are so many people both past and present that did so much to help support her, people in MASS during those fateful two weeks, people in QQ, people in DFS, and all of her other fans that supported her in their own way.
Also seeing that clip of Delu visiting the DFS minecraft server makes me smile
The Triangle is strong.

I will say that vtuber is definitely owed a massive apology.

I suspect more fans may have brought graduation sooner as I get the impression she was overwhelmed with everything

When I saw a music feat. DELUTAYA in my youtube feed (REDALiCE - Dawning Sky), I immediately took a listen. It became one of my favorite music recently. It kinda makes me feel proud of her since she's kinda back in business now after everything.
Glad that Nagai-san reached out to Delu. Heck, her latest collab with Tano*C (KYOREN Romance) kicks harder.

It's good to hear that Mano got a somewhat happy ending... I had always heard about how she was driven out of Holo, but I never knew she came back
15:48 I have to say whoever wrote that made essentially the essay equivalent of Nijisanji's negligible; as in their usage of the English language is poor due to how they came off.
They came off as condescending, aggressive and just outright arrogant in their own right. And because of that, despite them saying they didn't want to cause division they way the wrote it pretty much gives the overseas fans a reason to figuratively give them the middle finger and still cause division.
Thank you for the video, Rima!!!

When someone asked me why I hated Nijisanji, this was one of those incidents that cause deep seated hatred I have towards that company.

I remember activating twitter notifications for the first time in my life because I needed to know how was she doing

there really is a part of me that wishes to see what her career could have been if she could have stayed in Hololive... but I still enjoy watching a Delu-chan stream when i can..and glad she is in such a better place now.
Thanks for the video and the stream! I'm glad this video ended on a hopeful note.
Yes.
Red flags in what happened to her:
6. Has anyone even heard of this "2 chan?"
Honestly, Koefficient pretty much defined the average vocal idol fan and is why I prefer to view VTubers as content creators rather than idols.
It wasn't the Nijisisters CN branch putting pressure on her, you had antis on 2ch 5ch doxxing her and harassing her and people she knew

Not only was I there and saw it unfold real time but in the immediate aftermath several of us asked the question "how did this come to pass" and also wondered if there was anything that we could have done differently so we could learn should anything like it happen again.
So we dug, we investigated
What we found was that the EN side was the only side that knew nothing, we had been out of our depth from the start
I've seen the posts on 2ch and seen how they were attacking her even before she had debuted
But to your point, I even read the CN forums because they too had been digging into PL stuff and were talking about it, and yet, unlike JP, they thought a lot of it was pretty based. They mocked the JP side for attacking her and started to actively support her.
They did the Garden of Aloe, they did the letter writing project, all to show their support
The CN side in the aftermath ended up being the biggest and more organised part of her fanbase
The QQ leaders helped set up her fanbox and provided CN translations for her, they helped manage her wishlist, they helped organise the project to buy her a computer.
I know it is fashionable to hate on the CN side especially since the Holo CN incident, but it really doesn't apply here.

Actually This is cause by niji sister
Yup, while Hololive fans where upset it was mostly ninisisters who piled on to straight up bullying.
They also caused the greatest single incident that made her graduate: a phone call to her abusive father.
They should all be rotting in jail forever. Thinking about this still makes me furious.
the duality of things like Vtubing, Idol, and celebrity in general is always so jarring and interesting, especially because "both sides" (constructive and destructive) are fueled by the exact same energy
just a matter of what lens that energy is filtered through
thus is the reality of anything built around extreme fan engagement/reliance
I'm just glad she has another channel for us to support her on!!!
I love what you did with the bloopers!
Very sane people: "Let's harass a girl for a minor mistake until she has to quit her dream job"
also, 11:25 Rima never beating the size-queen allegations lmao
as someone who was an early supporter of aloe, participated and close in M.A.S.S, as well as the early parts of Delutaya. i remember every single moment of it, it was horrible witnessing it for sure. I dont think ill ever forget it ever.
Its a well covered video! described everything accurately.
Wow! you talked about the scammer, I was there, I was also there when she posted the photo of the hole in the wall, actually I was one of the first who said "how can we donate you?"
Very good investigation, congrats!
This situation resonates with me deeply.
As someone who has also come back from a suicide attempt (admittedly, I never got quite as far as Delu, but nonetheless...) I'm glad to see that she's doing better!
Take care of yourself 🙏🩷
@@rimaevenstar That's the plan!
I remember when the antis trashed on Aloe in that specific post at 16:16. I also think we trashed on that post, but it's been a long time.
I remember watching a translation of the video where she talks about jumping and the hospital. I didn't know who she was or any of the backstory but it made me cry.
"Yo internet made you kidz way too comfortable, that yo run yo mouth not fearing the consequences!" - Mike Tyson
As I already said on stream. One girl lost green hair, her life became worse. Other acquired green hair, her life became better. Green hair ftw
Lame
@@ibn9000 Don't take it so hard.
_"Its sad that Cover only started to truly take action after Aloe's incident."_
If you want to be the first person ever to provide a singular example of Cover so much as lifting a finger to protect Coco during the 8 months of suffering and isolation that followed her return from her suspension I'm listening.
Cover only pulled out of China because the alternative was illegally firing Kiryu Coco at the height of her popularity and Niji'ing themselves immediately after launching HoloEN. Then they went back after things died down.
This might be a terrible comparasion, but this heavily reminds me of a situation of an idol called Kim Garam (Former Le Sserafim), she also was in her group promoting for 2 whole weeks, then went on a hiatus. And then basically got bullied into leaving. It's cruel that people can just bully people like hell just for some issues.
i see that ad coming good job rima
