I’ve ridden all the hulls from Seadoo - never a Yamaha. Since going with the deep V ultra hull there isn’t a comparison between it and anything from Seadoo in my opinion. That good old fiberglass deep V hull shreds!

Yup I like the gp NanoXel for circuit racing but offshore kawi 100% that Deep V hull with all that weight stays in the water really well 👌 it’s been proven

If you think the GP/VX hull is good in chop..then you aren’t riding in real chop. 🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️I’ve gotten extensive seat time on the GP/VX hull in the ocean, so my opinion is well informed, I like to believe. The GP hull likes to “launch” over waves whereas the Ultra hull cuts. My Ultra cuts chop better than my Potter hull SeaCraft - which is one of the most prolific VDR deep-v hulls ever designed. If you’re looking for raw speed on a flat lake, go GP1800r SVHO 100%. Chop and distance ocean touring? Ultra, hands down.

The gp hull is fantastic. my 16 yr old daughter was riding her 325 hp gp tubing her friend and a few 85 mph on dash runs straight as an arrow.

the issue I have with the Kawi is theyre using more boost for that tiny ass engine. If I could put the power plant of the GP in the Kawi hull id so it all long.

Do you boy's have any tricks and tips on working a Yamaha 155mm jet pump.
I see Solas development a 160mm 155mm conversation kit to help crank up the Yamaha 155mm pumps.
But I don't believe there is a Lucky13 nozzle cone for the Yamaha 155 mm pump.

as a new rider with a GP H.O i can vouch for what greg is saying at low speeds its rides like shit you have to give the GP some gas and absorb the chop with your legs. the GP is not the best family ski its for the guy who wants to do some serious riding.

So I live in Canada and I’m about 10 mins away from Lake Ontario and I am looking for some fast fun on the water with some touring mixed in as I have a wife and a 9 year old who will occasionally go riding with me. Looking for a pwc that goes low to mid 60s. Been looking at the new 2024 fx HO but since the price for those are like 23k plus was thinking maybe a VX cruiser HO and I’ll save about 2- 3k. I can get a seadoo GTX 230 for even a little bit less than the VX HO. Any recommendations? Maybe even a gtr 230? Lake Ontario can get pretty harry when the wind picks up.

The ex vx and gp all use the same hull shape. The gp uses the thinner nano hull than the vx and ex. I’d personally go for the new fx ho for 2 things. They made the fx hull use boat grade smc fiberglass with is heavier thicker and a stronger. Also the brought out the new 1900cc ho engine that is more fuel efficient than the old 1800cc ho engine. I’d go with the fx cruiser ho for your situation.

I will freely admit my experience is limited. I've logged some decent hours on my previous ski, an '02 GTX, and my current machine, a '21 GTR. I've also rode a Spark 3up (only twice, about 2 years ago), a Fish Pro (again, only once 2 years ago), and a '98 Sea-Doo GS on occasion (owned by a neighbor on the lake). But even with a limited range to compare, I can say the GTI platform behaves amazingly in everything I've ever rode it in. There might be better hull designs for certain water conditions, or for racing, but the GTI hull is a fantastic all-rounder for everything from handing it over to a neophyte friend, to carving 80 km/h s-curves, to bashing through mid-afternoon lake chop.
However, I am going out for a test day that my local Yamaha dealership is hosting at my usual stomping grounds on Thursday, so maybe I'll have some new favorites afterwards.

The top deck of ST3 is great but hull is hot flaming garbage imo. I’ve also ridden the Yamaha FX a fair bit & it handles chop much better & is much more forgiving overall

    • @Herofmine

@@arasheqajar no, it’s not a hull issue, its the way sponsons made on these, so solution is replacing sponsons with Riva ones and issue solved. Every ski has own problems there is no perfect one.
Kawi are heavy and not agile
Yamaha splashes water on your face and cant see shit while riding at higher speeds, cant go fast if water bit rough.
