Phillip, thanks for showing all that ending up by replacing the bad unit but could not understand why first condemned the hvac module after checking power and ground and com wires and then checked the head controller and u find out that is the real problem as always very enjoyable to learn from the master. cheeeers
The scan tool has two selections related to the HVAC. There is HVAC Control and HVAC. They were both talking with the network but I was viewing data in the HVAC Control where it was reporting the voltage at 4 volts. I thought I was viewing data in the HVAC module. I figured it out by unplugging the module and noticed I still had communication with it. Anyways I was testing the wrong module all along. Oh well sometimes you have to pay to go to school...
Hi Phillip, where did you find the wiring diagram? Pin 15 goes to the blower motor and I’m assuming sends a voltage signal make the fan going. I can’t seem to find any information on it. Thanks
Hello, I have the code U1510 on my 1016 gmc canyon I looked it up on internet and says something about hvac module harness with poor communication. Should I replace that myself first or should I bring it to a professional. I need a good advice . Thanks
I need to know which controller is setting the U1510 and what the actual problem or symptoms are. I'm assuming your having an issue with the HVAC possibly AC operation and your getting that code with an OBD code reader in the ECM. Likely you have a problem with the active grille shutter system. Give me some more information and I'll try to help.
Until now everything is working perfectly I can say, I haven't noticed any difference but I have the engine light on. I will get more information and let you know I appreciate your help.
@@nestorrodriguez9373 then seems you have a problem with the active grille shutter which is in front of the rad. Start by checking the fuses. Not sure where you are but if weather has been cold, snow or freezing rain, could bave been frozen.
I'm dealing with a 2015 that has an auto climate system. The hvac system stays on everytime after the vehicle is running, shut down, and key removed. If key is toggled back to ign on/off, hvac turns off and stays off like normal. This truck does not have the blower resistor like previous models. Found the heater control module, but can't verify that the module is the problem. Temp and controls all function like normal when vehicle is running, and also when the climate controls stay on with key off/removed. Verified normal power/ground at blower motor. Verified continuity on the control wire from control module to the blower motor. I cannot find a relay tied to the hvac control system. Is there anything to test further before replacing heater control module?
@@PhillipBailey Everything stays on. It’s a 2500 HD Denali. Getting a P2536 code. Also learned that if the truck is running, then shut off, before door is opened… when you press any of the heater control buttons, a message will pop up on the IO8 display saying SYSTEM COMMUNICATIONS ERROR A communication error has occurred with the climate system. This may fix itself. Restarting the vehicle may also fix the problem.
@@00stangmang sounds like a LIN bus problem. Possibly the Hvac controls is not getting the request to shut off. It's going to be difficult to diagnose especially if it only does it once in awhile. I'd start by disconnecting the control head connectors and treating the terminals with Stabilant 22A Then do a network code clear. What module was reporting that code? Are you able to do an All Systems Code Scan?
I have nearly the exact same truck, a '15 Silverado 2500 HD LTZ 6.6, that is doing the exact same thing. Key off: HVAC stays on. Cycle the key from off, run, off once more and the HVAC turns off. I've narrowed it down to the HVAC control module is not going to 'sleep', but my new one won't program correctly with Techline Connect. I hope you get yours solved if you've not already!
@@JayJay-uw7br if one hose is significantly hotter than the other it indicates a restriction in the heater core. Make sure the cooling system is full. Try flush the heater core.

I use Identifix information site but you could try Alldata DIY information. You can purchase access for a year pretty reasonable.
Pin 15 is a duty cycled signal to the transistor in the blower motor that controls the fan speed. There is no blower resistor as on older styles.
Would you know what max voltage signal would be for full fan (like on Max)?
And thank you for the reply!!
I got it figured! Thanks for your help and your video!
What scan tool are you using?
I'm using the Snap-on Verus Edge
I’ve got no heat at all control lights on but not blowing at all, blower motor ?
Test for power and ground at the blower motor, check fuses.

Does the entire heater control stay awake or just the blower fan stays on?

The problem I was experiencing ended up being a short in the BCM.
Hey I have a 2010 silverado ls 4.8
The truck only blows cold air I can turn it off any ideas what it might be ?
Are both heater hoses hot? Check coolant level, is it coming up to temperature? Is it dual zone AC or manual? Any HVAC codes?
@Phillip Bailey yea one gets hotter then the other yes tempeture stays in the middle and I have manual no dual and no check engines right now
