Your welcome man. I'm glad I can do them. After the interviews are all out I'm going to be putting up audio recordings of the panels. plus my regularly scheduled content.
Ba'al was great i loved the clone idea, he really is a typical south African chilled but very alert of whats going on around him that was a great interview
Ba'al is definitely my favorite Goa'uld System Lord . He has it all : the evilness, charisma, the look and looks, comedic timing, n' the intelligence which usually goes unnoticed . Cliff Really brings the character to life. I could not see anyone else playing this part. And who knows he could be back if they decide to reboot Stargate . They claim to have caught all of his clones and him but maybe he left one clone without a tracker Or cloned his symbiote to implant into one of his clones to make it look like he was the real Ba'al. Who knows writers can always find a way to bring characters back .
Ba'al is my favorite I remember when he stopped using the deep voice and someone in SG-1 says hey your voice changed and he responds oh we don't have to talk like that LOL
That was sooo cool! Ba'al. Wow. I'd be so star struck.. I really enjoyed when he said if they called him to come back for an SG-1 spinoff, he'd be there. This is the best channel bringing Stargate recognition to the people. SG-1 will always be my favorite show! And Ba'al is the most charismatic and intelligent goa'uld of all time! I always said he's still alive out there. Can never kill him, he's like a cockroach.. there's always more in the shadows waiting to come out.
Thanks for posting this. In my opinion, Cliff Simon was one of very the best SG1 actors (next to RDA & Amanda Tapping). He seems to be a really cool guy in real life too. He certainly took control of your interview & had a lot to say. It's my understanding that Cliff was also a medal winning olympic swimmer & a pilot in the south african air force. For such a huge personality, I'd almost expect a physically bigger man.
Jackson Heathen before Cliff Simon I thought the goa'uld system Lords were a bit over-the-top, and then Cliff Simon came in and was way over the top made them look calm and it was perfect
@@OmegaOrdained Ba'al was definitely my favorite Gou'ald. I took an immediate liking to him right from that episode where he kept killing O'neill (with acid & knives) and reviving him in the sarcophagus only to do it again. Ba'al was arrogant, charming, and even slightly humorous without being quite as petty as the other Goa'uld. There was more depth to his character. I'm glad they kept him around to the end of Stargate.
Jackson Heathen I think my favorite thing with ball was when it was him SG-1 and Adera going after the Philosopher's Stone or something, that was really funny because you couldn't trust either one of them and either one of them could backstab the other at any time. And it was super funny!
@@OmegaOrdained Yep. That was a good one when they faced those odd challenges together looking for the sangraal. I really loved Adria too. I also found it amusing when Carter punched Ba'al in the face for being a pompous jerk, and whenever Mitchell referred to him as Spartacus.
They were all good but I found Amanda had a rythm and corkiness given to her lines that was sometimes, too much to handle. The only one of the main cast I can say that about. Sam "Mnyuh~! I don't think so, sir. Mnyuh~! Not at the rate the radiation is increasing. Mnyuh-i-i-i-if we don't find a way to stop it, the base will-" O'Neill "Carter!" Sam "Mnyuh, I'm sorry sir." ~She's got an annoying tick.
Well damn much love for his portrayal of my favourite Goa'uld another awesome accent and great work on the interview Taylor and don't worry anoput the mic battery was still a great job
It is interesting how much of a personality his character had, much more so than the other system lords. Did Apophis and Ba’al ever interact directly on the show? I can’t recall. They seem to be at different sides of the spectrum?
There's a small scene in Stargate Continuum where Ba'al executes Apophis, but I believe Apophis fully died before Ba'al was introduced as the main big bad.
Just in an alternate reality when Apophis dies because of a little head condition lol. Other than that no. His character was really cool, and so is he actually.
The cool thing is that he could be in an continuation of SG-1. Because the Tok'ra removed the symbiont so the host maybe relevant having some old memories of Ba'al. So maybe he can be a real good guy this time. Would love to see Cliff Simon on screen in a SG relatet show again. Great interview.👍
Ba'al was a great character. He was one of the few who didn't use the reverb voice all the time, He worked with the beautiful goa'uld Athena (Sonya Salomaa) as his 2nd in command. He died dozens of times in the show through his clones and in Continuum, he was not only shot in the forehead by Mitchell, the Tok'ra drilled into his forehead to get his symbiote out (though how this is done I don't understand since they wrapped themselves around his spine at his neck). AND he became Morena Baccarin! Just to name a few. Not bad for a throwaway character from Summit and Last Stand
Coolest most underrated sword in fantasy ever! Of all the video games, animes, movies, shows, and books in existence of various fantasy settings; never is it heard, people mentioning Ba'al's sword. It really stuck with me! When I saw it, I thought "I want his sword!"
Excellent interview! Cliff Simon rocks, I like the stupid ball jokes they did in the show. I don't think I've heard of celebrity talking about how to treat celebrities at the conventions that was very insightful. Good job Taylor these interviews are great! Are you putting them in a playlist? Have a great week!
It was interesting to see how the fans and the show have impacted these guys. There is a playlist of all of the interview it's called the Stars of Stargate.
I love Cliff Simon, I feel like it's the kind of guy if you see him in the street and just say: Are you Ba'al? He'd be the kind of guy that say yes, and you could talk to him for like 10 minute like you were buddy buddy. One of the question I would have asked, and I feel bad I didn't think about it would have been: Did a fan ever came up to you with the craziest theory about your Character, with backup facts, that you started to question your own character.... Or at least something along those line.
I was just watching an old SG 1 episode and I thought to myself that the accent sounds familiar to make the discovery Cliff Simon is a fellow South African.
I recently watched a video about Gul Dukat, played expertly by Mark Alaimo, Ba'al has a lot of similar presence and characteristics that Dukat has. I think Either actor could have switched roles and not many people would have noticed at first, other than the voices and faces, but if you only got to see them acting each other's roles say on stage. I would love to see them acting together in some scifi show, both baddies vying for the same goal but from different sides.
Unfortunately not in this run of interviews. Paul kind of got caught up on stage during the time slot for out interview and Teryl was sick all weekend. Next time though.
@@TheStargateGuy Dude, I said I CAN'T get to see him.. severely lacking cash at the moment. However other people I know are going up, so I'm hoping to see pictures.

I find it interesting that the final Goulud bad guy was Baal. The false god in direct competition with the God of the Bible. I wonder if the writers, directors, and producers ever thought of juxtaposing the Baal character with a representation of the Biblical God, in either a real or virtual confrontation. As dangerous and challenging as such an episode would have been it would have created a real dramatic and thought provoking story within the context of the Stargate Universe.
I'm pretty sure that they did think about it. They played with Christianity and the bible in season 3 but never really revisited it. I'm guessing that they didn't want to offend a good part of their fan base by getting to close to religions that are still apart of the main stream of society around the world.

I feel bad people bug him while he's smoking, but I would not turn down a chance to smoke with Cliff Simon and I quit years ago! Which means I'd also need a cigarette and I'd feel like a dick asking him, yet being able to say I bummed a smoke from Ba'al himself and smoked it with him would be so epic. Sort of wanna add that to the ol' bucket list, although I really wouldn't want to intrude on his break.
