Fuck me. I'm addicted to this. The tone, the style, the feel of it. That build up from 1:36 or so to 1:43 gets me every time. If Guthrie did a whole album on this style I'd be all over it.

How do you rank him above Vai and below Gilmour? Gilmour is not a virtuoso. They're literally not even in the same ballpark. Guthrie has more expanded knowledge and capability than Vai - Vai has mastered his craft to where no one has taken it before though. I'd still rank vai in his prime as the one musician who became the grand master of his style. Guthrie is a master of all styles and proficient in anything and everything music. David Gilmour is a great band guitarist that made some pretty melodic songs.

I have just come to realize that the fan in the face thing Actually has a useful purpose. It keeps your hair out of your face and you see where you’re going. What scales other than A minor is he using? He does some amazing stuff sometimes when the underlying chords are changing. I just don't know what else than A minor he uses?

I think a lot. And I think that Guthrie is the next step in the evolution of our electric guitar 🎸. If a unification theory exists, he is well on his way. Try watching him without volume. It is simply fascinating
guys is guthrie doing triple muting? using right hand palm + fingers to mute upper + lower strings and with left hand light finger touches aftter lifting off the note? im asking because his right hand is not moving like a sweep movement
He totally ignored that 2nd octave E on the low 6th string at the 24th fret. I would say he missed a note but I think we can all agree that that was an intentional snub. Fail.
I can't even think that good. Seems like there is literally nothing that he can't pull off with ease. Like if he can think it then he can play it. Its totally mind bending and outrageous.
Guthrie is a smooth yet powerful player. In my book collection he is the best out there right now. I say that because he can play anybody else and sound just like them, He can play any style anywhere at anytime.

Breath taking! IMO probably the most awe inspiring of all the many great guitarist out there. His expression of the piece leaves nothing out. Massive thumbs up Guthrie.

You may think Guthrie has a fan blowing on him to make him look sexy like Cindy Crawford drinking a Pepsi, but it is strictly to prevent over heating.
I have just come to realize that the fan in the face thing Actually has a useful purpose. It keeps your hair out of your face and you see where you’re going. Besides making you look like a god obviously.. my hair has been kinda getting outta control during quarantine so now I kinda get it :D not sure if I’m just being captain obvious here anyway!

What scales other than A minor is he using? He does some amazing stuff sometimes when the underlying chords are changing. I just don't know what else than A minor he uses?

Gotta give props to GG for introducing me to outside lines probably 10 years ago. I hate his tone, hate his style, hate his songs but I probably wouldn't be doing what I do today without him. But seriously you all gotta get some Pat Martino in your life, this is wack.

I think a lot. And I think that Guthrie is the next step in the evolution of our electric guitar 🎸. If a unification theory exists, he is well on his way. Try watching him without volume. It is simply fascinating
guys is guthrie doing triple muting? using right hand palm + fingers to mute upper + lower strings and with left hand light finger touches aftter lifting off the note? im asking because his right hand is not moving like a sweep movement

He totally ignored that 2nd octave E on the low 6th string at the 24th fret. I would say he missed a note but I think we can all agree that that was an intentional snub. Fail.
I can't even think that good. Seems like there is literally nothing that he can't pull off with ease. Like if he can think it then he can play it. Its totally mind bending and outrageous.

His phrasing just blows my mind, and for a guy who's mostly self taught it's astounding. Effortless.
Guthrie is a smooth yet powerful player. In my book collection he is the best out there right now. I say that because he can play anybody else and sound just like them, He can play any style anywhere at anytime.
Love it! But i have to say, the breath more comments are right. The spaces could make everything he plays a masterpiece.
