Hinduism: Understanding Karma and Reincarnation

  • Reincarnation can be a difficult concept to accept. But the idea makes sense when we understand that we are not what we take ourselves to be. The Masters and scriptures declare that beyond our physical and mental existence we are the Atman.
Life is a cosmic journey where the Atman samples different aspects of life through different incarnations. Karma is the force of the universe that makes this happen. It is not a moral judge, but a law which allows us to create our future.
Eventually after many lives we seek to break the ties of Karma and repeated birth and death, through Yoga.
Yoga is the method of centring our consciousness on the Atman. When we do this we rise above our Samskaras (impressions) and reach a state beyond Karma and Rebirth - We return home to God

Wow ❤️ thank you for putting this video together in simple ways for better human understanding. Dharma & Karma.
I am your new subscriber 💞💐🙏🏻
I was born and adopted into an estranged family I could not understand. Religion & Spirituality blended between worlds. My soul was leading me from the start, even walked me through what is known in the East as 'Dark Night of the soul'. A scariest moment of my life (unknown) but I got through it, NEW BEGINNINGS.
My life has been an interesting and incredible journey. Massive healing and learning. Much words that once held value to me in meaning had DIED ... I followed promptings of my soul, and created NEW meanings. One new word changed my life (mind perception) for better. I honored parts of my life that came to an end in dance and celebration. Nothing so painful can ever kill... for as SPIRIT I am pure creation and an eternal being.
Depression, Suicidal thoughts, Betrayal, Abandonment, Rejection, Anger, Loss of loved ones, Hatred turned inward on yourself ... You move from seeing yourself as a once broken and struggling victim, broken warrior, to your own hero ... You see yourself as ANEW .... A CONQUEROR, because you made it through the toughest path, you are a healer because you healed yourself, you let go and forgave much, still holding on to Loving compassion kindness for yourself and you share that.
Next level up ~> learning to love yourself UNCONDITIONALLY.
This I'm still working on. It's taken me long time but I'm getting better. I can at least look at myself in the mirror, look in my eyes and say " I love you. I really, really love you!" 😘💖
Dharma vs Karma... Past 7 years, I choose Dharma. 🙏🏻
Much love and blessings to all
    🌹💗🤗 Namaste

+Saqib Sheikh, There is no such thing as "belief" system in HInduism! It is a philosophical system which calls for "seeking", "questioning" and "exploring" on the part of every individual! Religion, in Hinduism, is only an accessory to Philosophy; and a means to an end! It is not the other way round!

@@fareed991 Please watch the video again. The "give up" as in inaction has to be experientially witnessed as same as action ie no differentiation between the two.
"Give up" does not mean taking up Sage life and going to Himalayas. Whatever you're doing, the goal is to reach a state where you do your thing 100% consciously. Nothing should seem like chores to you, when life becomes effortless for you afa suffering is concerned, mind you, suffering not pain. Higher levels of consciousness help you know your Dharma which has to be done in a completely unattached manner. REMEMBER RESORTING TO INACTION BY NOT FULFILLING YOUR DHARMA IS ITSELF A BAD ACTION. It's not giving up per se.
Practice Pranayama for a week and then start practicing Kumbhak (Kumbhak needs lil bit of experience of easy Pranayama exercises first) While doing Kumbhak, watch your thoughts and different sensations (anything from itch to tingling to pain in your body). That's all, just watch them. With practice, try to increase your breath holding capacity (for longer time). Lay more emphasis on exhaling. Do this regularly for 15-20 minutes on an empty stomach (no eating for 1.5-2 hours before exercise) for a month and see for yourself, you're becoming more conscious or not. May be then you'd get what I'm trying to say.
And while doing Pranayama, you don't have to think about any "Hindu god" or anything, no mantra, no other chanting, no need to believe something even reincarnation or Karma, etc- SIMPLY MEDITATE.

Hey, I do agree with you on so many points but there is just one question. You said, whatever we believe is irrelevant, however by the principle of karma, don’t thoughts eventually become thought patterns (beliefs) and in that way they do shape our current and future reality (to some degree)? Because I think thoughts become beliefs and beliefs make us take actions. All of these have varying degrees of impact on your life as a whole with actions bringing the greatest impact of all. I say this because everything in this universe is vibrating at a certain frequency. Even matter constitutes of a set of vibrations. As human beings however, we have the ability to manipulate our thoughts- or to create (in a traditional sense of the word). So therefore if we do apply the law of karma, we could then be directed to the law of attraction- which all ties it together very neatly. We do have the ability to change our belief systems as human beings so it does make it very relevant to the lives that we live.

How does that work? Doesn't Krishna say we've been doing this cycle for forever? If the goal is to break the cycle and achieve Moksha how come it seems we can't?

Someone born in great and royal family and other in slum and powerty can be only justifiable by cyclical rebirth according to past karma's and sanskars. And most importantly it is benificial for societies to improve our activities and karma.

But doesn't it seem that the pursuit of escaping karma is counter to the requirements of escaping karma? The more you desire to escape the more you are desiring, and therefore the more afflicted by karma you are.

You will be given birth to escape it once and for all. So it is a good one.

Everyone is born in a different situation even the animals. Action and reaction thru time. In many different types of bodies. Up and down we go until we get the association of saintly persons to start us on our way out of the dark universes and into the spiritual universes with the Supreme Being. The most beautiful originator. Hear that call O human. This is beyond all so-called religions. Real religion is surrendering to the Supreme Lord thru the process of Bhakti-Yoga,beginning with hearing about the Eternal well wisher and about that Sustainer of All as in the Bhagavad Gita thru the medium of a pure soul.
