This video is fantastic. I really appreciate how you didn't skip any steps ... your camera work very clearly illustrated what needed to be done. The flash light you used made a huge difference too. I also liked how you edited the video removing time that didn't need to be included. I think you have a talent for this kind of thing and I hope you keep making videos like this. one. Thank you.

Thank you so much for posting this video! I was able to help my friend work on his 2003 Volvo v70. Great camera work and I really appreciate all of the comments along the way.
Somehow for us, both of the blue clips weren’t broken but had jumped out of the track and were still attached to the x lift mechanism. We were able to reseat the track and pop the mechanism back into the clips because of your video.

Great video man. My window fell into my door last night during a snow storm, so I had to in a hurry tape it up so I wouldn't get snowed on.

Pretty simple job. Sucks about the snow storm. Terrible time to not have a functioning window.

its not snowing but it is 20 degrees and my window fell into the door.coincidence or freezing temps promote clip failure? lol

Very helpful video! Had to do the work in extreme cold in an unheated garage Christmas Eve - and had great difficulty getting the old blue clips off. I finally realized the extreme cold was making the plastic clips too stiff so I heated them with a hair dryer and was able to pop them off much more easily. Interestingly they were not broken but the front one had somehow popped out of the track and the metal arm holding the rear clip had gotten a bit bent - probably from the glass getting jammed up after the front clip jumped the track. I'm thinking the lack of lubrication caused the clip(s) to get jammed up and the window motor pressure contorted things just enough to pop one clip off the track. I was able to straighten the bent arm, replace the clips and applied tons of spray-on white lithium grease to lube the track and so far it has worked fine. NOTE: after using the lithium grease I read somewhere that it is NOT the ideal lubricant for plastic parts because it could eventually soften them. Time will tell - I may be doing this fix again down the road and if so will need to find a better suited lubricant.

Mines old so it probably won’t make to the point the plastic breaks down. Glad my video could help

Those body clips should be industry standard. They are so easy to move without breaking and hold tight with swedish tolerances

Great video! I had this happen a couple years back on our 2004 S60 passenger side front window - and after replacing the clips it still popped off the track (just like for you). I just assumed there was something wrong with the track so I positioned the window in the up position and disconnected the plug/wires to the that window motor (i.e. window no longer operational). HOWEVER, the driver's side window just popped the track today so I'll attempt this repair again - hoping I can get it to work because not having a operational driver's window can be a real hassle (drive thru's / getting pulled over / etc).
PLEASE LET US KNOW IF YOURS POPS OFF AGAIN - AND IF SO IF YOU WERE ABLE TO FIGURE OUT THE ISSUE.

@@8Lugproductions In case the link doesn't work - here is the verbiage:
      RESET PROCEDURE
      Start your S60.
Close all the doors and windows.
Open the window by pressing and holding the window control switch. When the window is fully open, keep the switch pressed for a few seconds.
Close the window by lifting and holding the window control switch. When the window is fully closed, keep the switch held for a few seconds.
Note: Repeat the procedure if the window does not automatically close with one press of the switch. If it still doesn’t work, repeat the procedure without starting the engine and the ignition in ON position. To turn on the ignition in vehicles with start/stop button, press the button without pressing the brake pedal.
      Reset Procedure 2
If the above reset instructions do not work for your S60, then this alternate method may work.
      Start your S60.
      Close all windows and doors.
Open the window by pressing and holding the window control switch. When the window is fully open, keep the switch pressed for a few seconds. Release the switch, then press it again and hold it for a few seconds.
Close the window by lifting and holding the window control switch. When the window is fully closed, keep the switch held for a few seconds. Release the switch, then pull it upward again and hold it.
The one-touch up and down features will then be fully functional.
Note: If the window still doesn’t automatically close in your S60, repeat the procedure without starting the engine and the ignition in ON position. To turn on the ignition in vehicles with start/stop button, press the button without pressing the brake pedal.
      Window bounce back midway
Volvo S60 has a power window pinch protection feature which can reduce the risk of being pinched and injured when the windows are closing. If the window cannot close due to resistance or an obstacle, then the window will reopen immediately.
      Lubricate the window
If the window in your S60 bounce back midway after following the reset procedure, the window may be sticking due to high resistance in the window frame. In this case, apply some water resistant silicone lubricant to the side edges of the window. Wipe the excess spray off with a cloth or paper towel to prevent any damage to the paint or the interior.

I just bought a 2005 Volvo S80 and the whole driver side window fell into the door when I opened the sun roof. I was told when I purchased that the window didn't roll down, so I wasn't expecting this. I can pull the whole window and shim it into place but it doesn't hold when the sun roof is down. I'm hoping this video will help me solve the issue, so thank you very much!
