I'm an American and I've worked all throughout the Middle East from Iraq, Kuwait, Dubai, Afghanistan, and currently Qatar. I think there may be cultural differences that might cause misunderstandings. I've seen many people get asked not to film on planes during my travels, and not all of them were black. In the Middle East, especially for the women, they do not want to be filmed. I'm not saying racism doesn't exist, because it does, I'm just saying in this case, they just weren't comfortable being filmed.
“I flew with Egypt Airlines from Saudi Arabia to Nigeria for a business trip and was required to purchase a return ticket with Egypt Airlines. On my return from Nigeria to Saudi Arabia, the airline staff insisted that I buy another departure ticket from Saudi Arabia using Egypt Airlines, even though I planned to stay in Saudi for a long time without a specific return date. Despite explaining this multiple times, the staff told me to buy a ticket and then cancel it if needed. So, I bought a random ticket, but they ended up blocking it. I’ve never experienced such frustrating service.”
I recently flew Egypt Air in Egypt from Cairo to Aswan and then Luxor to Cairo. Everything went well and I felt that the people were generally friendly. Maybe because they were short flights. But, I’ve heard about negative experiences from so many people and it sucks so bad that this happens from African people, no matter what shade they are.
I agree with you...I have experienced the worst type of racism which even made me appreciate white racism...I am a professional Londoner flying from an African city back to London and on transit in Cairo it turned out that my seat number on boarding pass wasn't visible and was pushed back out of the plane just at the door without explanation to what I need to do..confused I turned around and started walking back against the flow of passengers heading towards the plane...then came by chance a lady official who questioned me what the matter is and I explained the fact that it is not my fault the seat number on boarding pass isn't visible or even perhaps not printed at all..she cross checked my passport and reluctantly led me to the plane to look for an empty seat in an economy class and didn't find one..then came back to business class and found few empty seats...mind you I was standing there like some freak show in front of hundreds of passenger s and the lady instead went back to economy class to look for a white passenger she can upgrade to business class so that she can seat me in economy class..then she found a lone mid twenty looking English gentle man she can unseat from economy class and upgrade him to business class...to be fair to the English man, once he realized what exactly was happening I could see he was so embarrassed looked so apologetic to me but didn't know how to refuse...I will never forget his face...then I heard stories about the mindset in that part of the world to the point I ended up appreciating white English and England 🙏

The airline should be reported to the authorities like: IATA; IAPA and the British and European governments. It’s unlawful and illegal that an international airline should treat passengers, in this way.
Original Egyptians were not black. If they were, they would have lived in mud huts like the rest of sub Saharan Africa at the time. Go to Egypt and you can see all over their temples paintings of ancient Egyptians with their black African slaves and they don't look the same
The so called egypt was a province of Ethiopia. Ethiopians built the pyramids. Evil egypt is one hundred percent dependent in the Ethiopian Abay/Nile river to this day.
The camera might also be an issue. Most flight crews don’t appreciate to be filmed. U should wear these undercover glasses coz for real for real, they don’t like being filmed
I flew from Heathrow to Kenya 22 years ago and found them passive-aggressive both on the plane and when connecting at Cairo; I ended up booking a one-way ticket back to London. I feel you!
Thank You for this Video and your last one on that airline. I did not know anything about Egypt air before your last video. My family and I are traveling to Kenya and had been looking for flights but since your first Video on Egypt air I make sure I exclude them from the search all together. I will tell everybody I know not to fly with them also.
Flying EgyptAir has never even crossed my mind no matter how cheap they are. Given they hate their black brothers, there is no reason to expect them to be civil to us. Ethiopian Airlines forever!
I made the mistake of flying Eygptair years ago from Frankfurt to Nairobi. Too much racism. Never ever again, I'd rather walk, swim, and then walk some more.
I have flown EgyptAir 3x (black woman) and I totally hated each experience. My worst was in 2019, while coming from the Egyptian city of Hurghada, connecting via Cairo. I was part of a big team from various parts of the world. Interestingly, for us, black folks, the attendant at the check-in counter ‘could not see our final destination in the system’, and told us to enquire at the check-in counter in Cairo because the systems in Hurghada had a lag😅. This meant that our luggage could not be sent to the final destination, and that we had to check them back in while in Cairo. Well, thing is, our connecting flights to our final destination was less than 2 hours from arrival time in Cairo. Well, long story short, we all missed our flights and had to stay at an airport hotel in Cairo that evening. The other non-black folks never had an issue at all. Coincidence??
@ Sadly, for most African countries, the only direct link to Egypt is through their airline. Our own Airlines have a share partnership with them so they can be the ones operating on the routes.

As a black man, I really didn't see any racism or mistreatment here, cabin crew on planes do a very tiersome and tedious job, you should be understanding if they occasionally look tired and not cheerful, if you are out looking for racism you will end up interpreting every act as racism.
Our Black Afrikan ancestors in Kemet dont like having their bodies dug up and their belongings stolen either, so the grave robbers can suck it up, they have an evil reputation that preceeds them.
No one should be mistreated, but Egypt does have a number of restrictions on it's citizens, so it may be a good idea, if you didn't already do it, is check the laws for that area. Your travels are inspiring, but please be safe and do your homework in advance. Thanks for sharing your experience, so that the rest of us will know what's what. Enjoy!!!!
I struggled to see any form of racism there. People complain about cabin crew skipping them. Happened to us on an an Air Zimbabwe flight. Sam Chui was asked to stop filming on an Air Zimbabwe flight. These things happen. But I won't take away from your experience and say it was or wasn't
Brother Cooper, I like your content and a salute you for your thorough information about traveling. Yes, I’ve heard racist stories about Egypt and Egypt Air against melanated people. However, the examples you show in this video aren’t it. Many airlines, if not don’t allow to film or even take pictures, and you can be removed if they want to. It’s mainly due to their culture, you have to respect these boundaries.
Consider the time we are living in. Many times they don't want you filming because: you give the layout of the plane or the airport. Sometimes you have to blend in and be incognito, when you are in places that are problematic with United States foreign policy. Tell them you follow their national football team or Mo Salah, and you will see how they change. Even better speak some local language with them. I have found myself in business class and few times just chopping it up with pilots and attendants. A lot of times it's not being African American but it's about being American.
After spending my hard earned money for a flight I should not have to cater to fight attendants for basic courteousness. If anything, it should be the other way around with them doing their job and catering to me. Also, EgyptAir's rudeness is directed to just Black people. When exiting the aircraft one of their flight attendants frowned at me while smiling at the white folk and wishing them a pleasant day. Please stop making excuses for their poor behavior.
Egypt and Egyptian are mostly not camera friendly no matter what your race stop by in Egypt so you can witness for yourself that’s even between them as well
Im an american who lived in egypt for a while, I can tell you for a fact its not racism, its just that they are a bankrupt airline and they got horrible ppl working there. Egypt is also controlled by the military, you can read about how that affects people's mentality over there.
Nah G, I'ma have to disagree with you on this one. I've flown egypt air before countless times and i am Lebanese, I had the same exact weird stares and unwelcoming vibes. It's not that they are racist, it's that they (most likely) hate their jobs or aren't professionally trained to have the correct etiquette. What I saw was a mirrored depiction of the things I experienced, so I really don't think you are correct on the presumption that they were being racist toward you. I also experienced the same feeling that people were very unwelcoming and rude toward me when I arrived to Egypt in the airport, I really think it's a staffing and training problem. Other than that, the Egyptian people are very welcoming and friendly (generally speaking).
Thank you for this video I was just about to book a flight on this airline, he is correct they are the cheapest but cheapest isnt always the best. I will NOT be flying this airline EVER
When I waited for my dad's casket in Asmara coming from Milan to Eritrea. Egypt Air with the assistance of their Italian masters sent the wrong casket. If it wasn't for the Lord's mercy and His Word my dad would have been buried with some Arabs rather than his ancestors. I had to fight with my own family at the Eritrean airport as they refused to allow me to open the casket and once I even pushed away the paid priest they regarded me as doomed and accursed yet when they saw it was some Arabs man's casket they all trembled in fear. From that day the envious in my family and country were silenced. Also when my mother and her sisters send cargo like medication and sanctioned hygiene goods to Eritrea via Europe and transiting Cairo with EgyptAir, almost every single time things go missing. I think we should work with Russia. Maybe Russia and Aeroflot can have a larger presence in Egypt so these things can not happen. Rest in peace papz.
You were a good child to have down what you did. Bless you for that. Speak up when the times calls for it. Your father rest his soul. Even in the after life. I know he has to be proud of you.
@puggirl007 it is God who is good, His mercy allowed me to see what they were up to. To be fair EgyptAir does not control the cargo in Italy so it is safe to say the Italians are responsible for our troubles. Glory be to the God of Abraham.
Why would you say it's dangerous???Show some respect and don't film. Simple. I've flown a few times with them and never had a problem. Never saw any racism so why play the race card? Take the sunglasses off, make eye contact and don't look for the bad things that may not exist. Sorry for your late breakfast, how awful for you. Your replies to comments have an air of arrogance to them.
It’s sad we go through this in other countries. I’ve dealt with this with TAP Portugal and Ethiopian Airlines. I was singled out at the airport in Portugal for a drug search while my husband, who was no where near me, was being harassed about carryon luggage and made to pay extra. Being we were the only Blacks boarding the plane, I began to record during the drug search. I was threatened with being detained if I didn’t stop. I pretended to turn my phone off but continued to record. Of course nothing was found during the search. Security later found me in line and asked to see my phone. Because they didn’t know how to work my phone, all they saw were touristy pictures I had taken in the airport. I plan to post this incident. We were also discriminated against at the Marriott hotel in Portugal where we were told I’d need to pay extra for my husband being in the room with me though he was on the reservation and it was a double-occupancy room. Due to these racist experiences, we hated Portugal. In flying on Ethiopian Airlines the flight attendants treated the Black Americans differently than the people who were African. I love visiting Africa, but the arrogance and being ignored by Ethiopian flight attendants makes flying this airline unpleasant. This airline is chosen by those I travel with due to offering the lowest prices. We intend to find another airline and travel independently from the group on our next visit to Africa.
Yeah brutha it aint worth all that. Even the first class section looked busted. And that 15 hour pit stop at the airport...aww hell no. Although I did pull one of those at the airport in Dar (19 hrs) with nowhere to charge your devices and no place to get food after 9pm.
Let me explain. The tray of food was clear as she couldn’t have done anything to it. She just made SURE to make me wait last and have to ask her multiple times to embarrass me and show her honor to WS.
If you think this is bad try Australia my best friend dated a Black American and she invited him to her house and her mother wouldn't even let him in the front door. I was standing outside with him and we heard her mother yelling How dare you bring a N word home. I apologized to him and it wasn't even my family.
Even we black Africans rarely use Egypt air due to racism. If visiting east Africa use Kenya airways or ethiopia airlines or tanzania airlines or ugand airlines . We black people tend to treat everyone nicely
I was at a learning institution in Europe a few years ago.We where 4 students from Africa including one from Egypt (light skinned Arab guy). The European lecturers asked us to show them the location of our respective countries on the African map.I felt ashamed when the Egyptian said that Egypt was not part of Africa. He said it was part of Europe,I wished the ground would open so that I could hide .
I am sure you are lying. First, Egyptians are not Arabs, and second, all Egyptians know that they are from Africa. None of them attributes themselves to Europe.
@Rinadoy Iam talking about the brown skinned people in present day Egypt. They don't want to associate them coming from the African continent. In fact they think they are White people.
@@faithfaithmashavira5387 Well, I apologize for the misunderstanding, but we in Egypt, whether white or black, know that we are from Africa, and even Sudan and North Africa are more connected than the rest of Africa because of customs and language, but we are not Arabs.
It’s not a matter of race, Egyptair is known for their terrible service and are quite conservative when it comes to being filmed on camera. I can assure you it wasn’t a matter of race and that Egyptians are very inclusive and diverse
I traveled to Egypt Air 4 times and never had any problems - although it was in the 90s so I may be out of touch. I do speak some Arabic which may make a difference along with African / Islamic style clothing I wear when I’m traveling there ??? I don’t know why they acted like that (I saw on video) but I’m sorry you went through that !!!
Sorry to put the proverbial spanner in the works, but where exactly was the racism? They told you not to film on board and your breakfast was late. I come with an open mind but I don't get it
@COOPSCORNER You haven't answered the question. Why do you see this is racist? For example, there is a white guy on RUclips, NonstopDan, who is constantly told to stop filming when boarding. Please don't get me wrong, I am not denying the existence of racism. Its just when it clearly occurs and when it doesn't. Unconscious bias aside, whatever the colour of your skin you can be told to switch off the camera when boarding and receive your meal last.
I couldn't count how many times you mentioned "Racism" in your video!! I am trying to figure out where exactly you have been racially discriminated in this video, but I couldn't find any real incident supporting your claim. Being asked to stop filming is a matter of controversy, and some comments here are explaining some of the rules regarding filming on aircrafts.

My suitcase bumped into the pilot. The flight attendant told me I could not board the plane anymore because I entered the pilot thank God the pilot was not racist. He looked at her like she was crazy and told me to proceed to board the plane!
I recognize some of those crew members lol. Worked with Egypt Air in Toronto. You are not allowed to use the camera simple lol. Ill say this though, If you spoke arabic they would have treated you different. I guarantee. Its not necessarily racism. Its a culture superiority complex.
@@COOPSCORNER Why you going to Egypt to cause problems? Stay in America then. Spend your "english speaking money" in the "english speaking country". No countries deserved to also pay for your social problems as they have problems in their countries. Been to Egypt air and they have rules. I am not black. I did not like their rules. But their rules were their rules and it had to be respected. If you can't respect other peoples rules stay in America.
I'm black and I didn't know that telling someone they can't film on a plane was racist. In my day, being racist meant something else. Everyone is so soft these days.
Honestly, I didn't see any racism in the video. They gave you good food and treated you well. Even when they asked you not to take pictures, they asked nicely. Secondly, why do black Americans always test others?
Other nationalities visiting African countries are treated differently as well. That's why they're having a lot of problems. If the nation was diverse, I'm sure they'll be prosperous and many don't have to cross over to other countries.

This is common practice for Egypt Air. They force you to buy another ticket.
Sounds about RIGHT.

You remind them off the original egyptians/khemetians something they hate to remember
Original Egyptians were not black. If they were, they would have lived in mud huts like the rest of sub Saharan Africa at the time. Go to Egypt and you can see all over their temples paintings of ancient Egyptians with their black African slaves and they don't look the same

FACTS! 🗣️
I am curious, why do you keep flying with them? As a black dude, I know what airlines (and countries) I will NEVER visit
@ Sadly, for most African countries, the only direct link to Egypt is through their airline. Our own Airlines have a share partnership with them so they can be the ones operating on the routes.

I appreciate your effort for reporting this but bro PLEASE be careful. God only knows what they might be doing to your food. Especially since it came late.
As a black man, I really didn't see any racism or mistreatment here, cabin crew on planes do a very tiersome and tedious job, you should be understanding if they occasionally look tired and not cheerful, if you are out looking for racism you will end up interpreting every act as racism.

As black women, racism is no longer my fight. Treat me right as a person, no matter what color you are. ❤

Good luck with that.
You want a BLACK man to ‘blend in’? But, other people act like fools and get treated with respect? Never #COOPSCORNER

Absolutely terrible service bunch of good for nothing
My apologies for that treatment. Subscribe to the channel 🤎
