I worked at a grocery store, and another trick they did was changing the layout every 3-6 months so that you have to hunt around for what you want to buy.
Just go around the circumference of the store, grab your staples, and then supplement the rest by going down the aisles that have the things you need. Go when it’s not busy. Almost everything you need is around the edges. It’s not that difficult.
Maybe a Canadian thing, but most of those "tricks" are yet to be learned by our beloved grocers. Other than shuffling stuff around every now or then, dairy stuff are near eggs, fresh vegetables are first stuff walking in and most "healthy" options are among the most important ones.
Oh, this is just a small draft of the things supermarkets does to us - they keep making the shopping carts larger; it prevents them from being filled up, therefore making you available to keep putting things in there - we were actively working with these things during an education in Denmark - also the fruits and vegetables are placed specifically in color-based pairs, for instance green, red, green, red so your eyes catch these products rather easily. A ton of stuff is going on, "5L-reglen" ("The 5L-rool") describes what we call Lyd, Lys, Liv, Luft, Layout, which would be Sound, Light, Life, Air, Layout in English. These 5 subjects contain a dozen of different vairables that you as a merchant can influence to make people buying more. Also the muzak playing has some neurotic inflict on our brain that should make us more relaxed and appealing to the products.. Etc etc, that's just what popped into my mind :-)
I make lists and include crunchables on it, so I only buy the exact amount (85% dark chocolate or potato chips in this case). I hate wandering around the supermarket and most often plan ahead what route I will take.
I work at a grocery store the eggs and milks are at back because it’s more convenient to stock than having to move around the store with breakable eggs. And milk because we go through so much it’s easier to stock closer to the back than all the way at the front
if you get RIPPED off ANYWHERE especially at a supermarket, you have it coming. First off, this video has neglected to state that MANY times what the price says on the shelf may NOT be what that damn scanner says. Go around with a calculator and add it all up BEFORE placing it on the conveyor belt and pay attention to what the final price is,minus the tax. Only an *IMBECILE* just stands there and when the checker tells you what the bill is they STUPIDLY pay it. You are allowing a computer to control your life and a Human to control the computer. I have found MANY discrepancies when it comes time to pay. When the manager shows up,they BLAME "The Computer"
Yuppie , supermarket, you and your bros join together her to make special neighbor hood supermarket. Every week and a half go to beautiful foreign country and bring special foods from there have special area setup in store called something new. People can try also prepackaged meals no more than $5, Set for people have high blood pressure, diabetes, low or high thyroid, low sperm count, hey it happens, add, from 3yrs old to 80enjoy.
Always check your receipt because I think it's standard practices now that they overcharge knowing most people won't check. December is probably the worst. This Kroger "whoo hoo" over the intercom every 5 seconds is just a way to distract shoppers from calculating the best quantities and prices.
Beaux Richards it'd be interesting to see how accurate that is, I work in a reasonably large retailer in the U.K. as much as I can believe that supermarkets would overcharge on purpose I know that we very often overcharge accidentally, it's usually just because whoever changes the prices at head office didn't tell the people who control the pricing on the tills and/or they raised the price but both forgot to tell us to change our labels, it's still frustrating as hell for us though because we feel really bad about it but unless each person on the till knew every price of every product and what it actually said in our store overcharging is just something that will happen I fear
In the decades grocery chains have been around, you'd think they'd have all those problems worked out. Seems like a good way to keep a scam going. And software can be manipulated. Not saying it is, but there is something going on. It's not the employees working for paychecks, unless they have their own scams going. I wish I lived in the U.K.

Really . They do that much of trouble 🤣
Hi Andrielle, I will like to open one, you mind helping me with some tips?
Nice concise summary, but you left out rule #1: Don't shop hungry. Eat before you go to groceries. $ave.
lol true

No need to go in one. Go to a local small store

Supermarket scams are the next retail scandal
That is how mafia works
If I owned a store, I would want to try and get rid of these things, so the shoppers would want to come back.
This is your best video so far.
