I worked at a grocery store. You are buying packaging. We would open a big container of something and scoop it in to smaller containers. People would think we made it from scratch. The stuff in the hot case has been there for hours. Also beware of multiples. If it's 2 for $6 you may have to buy two. You may not get the reduced price on a single (Hello, Superstore). Also many have replaced the 'Buy One Get One" with "Buy Two Get One" so instead of have a 50% saving buying two, you get a 33% saving buying 3 and you are actually spending more.
- would you like a drink to your pizza? - no. vs - would you like COFFEE or BEER? - uuuhmm... no? see? the 2nd "no" cannot really happen. Always. offer. two.
I am writing this comment and have not seen the video yet, but I work in one of those evil grocery stores you talk about. Simple rule to avoid any tricks, have a complete list before you enter the store, buy only what is on the list, take said items to register, pay for all of them, leave the store. Now you have not been mind controlled in anyway.
I'm glad for online grocery pickup. I can get just what I want/need. I ignore the "are you sure you have everything" screen by clicking NO very quickly. Then I go pick the stuff up...no more poor choices, I can take as much time as I need, stop do something else and come back later to finish. And no need to bring the kids who end up begging for stuff they didn't know they wanted until they saw it on the shelf
We all gotta start small but I agree, we gotta get way more views on this 😅. In all seriousness though, liking and comment really does help, so thanks for the support!
WHAT ABOUT shrink-flation, you know same product, jacked up price and yet the BOX (size) is smaller. Like, customers surely would not notice their getting LESS product for a higher price. Total scam
in uk didnt they have a ban on high sugar products on the main aisles? it's kinda dumb cos a lot of ppl wanna buy these products but cant easily buy anymore, also the sugar tax made chocolates, and drinks taste like absolute CRAP!!!!
honestly, thats very smart and pretty win win kinda situation. You lose money a few times but in the long run you'll be the winner, coz now you know where to go to improve your mood , And you also get in the rhythm that you don't eat as much as you shop. :P
The first time I went to Kroger as I picked up my groceries I wright down the price and total as I go so to not go over budget when the cashier totals me out I was $24.00 over budget found out if you don't get a card and give them your info your prices are higher. I told them to keep their groceries I'm going elsewhere. Im a privacy advocate I dont give info to be used as a test subject
I went to CVS yesterday and they wanted me to sign up for whatever rewards program. They said you'll get 10 extra bucks to shop at CVS every month. I skimmed through the flyer real quick and noticed it said for only 5 dollars a month. I asked her and she said yes but it pays for itself because we pay you 10 extra bucks a month. IDK something just doesn't seem right about it!!!
they want to log and analyze your shopping habits. a guy who walks in and rejects their nonsense club card gimmick is less desireable. It also gives you the illusion youre saving money getting it at the b.s. club card member price vs non.
@@dangerdavefreestyle At the grocery store I worked in you had to have a club card to get any of the sale prices. The non-card prices were astronomical. Pretty much forced people to have a card and be tracked.
Happy people spend more money? Maybe! I went to the store and the lady in front of me, rang up her notebooks for 50cents each. I wanted to go back, but been annoyed with the crowds, did I go back? No way!
To the nation's public: Please carefully read the supermarket's circulars that arrive at your doorstep. Check the *DATE and LOCATION.* I've had adverts come to my house presuming it was for my regular neighborhood store: it was not -- and didn't realize this until I arrived. Ironic. I believed that I was the perusing master looking for deception -- my perineum was plucked!
The worst part of grocery shopping is the check out. I only use self-checkout which is fine and much more efficient. But if I am buying alcohol I have to wait in line and the customers in front of me act like it's their first time in a grocery store. They fumble for their wallet or dig through their purse to pay when they had all the time in the world to get it ready while the cashier was scanning all the items and then they just stand there while they bag the groceries for them instead of lending a hand. Most grocery stores only have one or two cashiers because they want to save labor costs but it inevitably leads to long lines of frustrated customers. Self-Checkout is the way to go but stores are doing away with them because of theft.
Metamucil and other prune laxatives on the checkout lane. Assistant saying hello and helping you select milk as soon as you walk in, produce in the back of the store off to the side so you dont have to walk through it, rice on the bottom shelf, flour on the top shelf,
Use your hAnds, LOL! People have been getting 5-finger discounts for years. Walmart changes up the locations of main thoroughfare items deliberately to lead repeat purchasers around the store and they will see more on sale items to buy.
I grew up around the meetings but never was official. Growing up in religion you can either become a big follower of you question things so you take things w grain of salt and pepper. I grew up on questioning things all the time. My experience w them was fine but then again you have to be careful. Its no different than going to college where they want you in certain way. I still feel like humans need some kind of faith or higher power to stay strong or to have a reason to live so I don’t blame why some people join
The tactics are mind boggling from fudging dates to repackaging dated items such as old meat then covering it in some sauce and reselling it.Eggs I laughed when I came home after buying a carton of large eggs on sale the first one I opened in the pan was VERY obviously a SMALL egg it could not even pass for a medium.Of course if the grocery store chains were ever called out for misleading practices they would have several excuses lined up like oh sometimes you might get an egg pass through that shouldn't or maybe customers are messing with the packs. In my area Loblaws is the biggest scammer going their multi pack idea they stole from Costco is NEVER an actual bargain I know because I shop right next door to their competition and compare prices. RIght after covid chains jacked prices up insanely inflation right now is way out of hand and how does our government respond?Well it is a joke they start talking about interest rates wtf does interest rates have to do with everyday cost of living? You think raising intrerest rates is going to make Loblaws return prices back 50% because they and other chains jacked up prices insanly in a very short period of time like 3 increases in one year on many items.

Walmart agents are looking for you .... 😁
As a Walmart employee I can confirm that this is actually very accurate. In fact the items at the cash register are called impulse merchandise
I knew this since I was a teen
No shit. That’s been known for 40 plus years

Every grocery store in my area use these tactics, very intresting video!
Asked kid
It’s true, when I go in for just like 4 or 5 things, I end up taking a tour of the entire store to get them all
Very sneaky placing items at kids' eye level!
Keep up the great videos!
It is a great video thanks for the great information and well delivered. This is exactly what I was looking for.

Great info!
I'm glad you liked it!
those grocery stores are so sneaky, nice video!
Would be nice for you to update this video for the inflation of the last three years.

Supermarkets suck now. I remember back in the 90s, supermarkets used to be awesome. Now I hate them.
good video
Great insight, thanks!

As a kid. I can confirm at my local grocery store all the candies at my eye level.😂. And all the baked goods are at the front so I can confirm this.
that's what am going to use at my store. Thanks

The store has a generic advantage card for those who don’t have one.
I go in with a list and stick with it. I check other stores for what I can't buy on list.
Walmart tracks your spending offline if you have a Walmart account online on their website! They don't even tell you.
3k subs? Srsly, some people are underrated on RUclips smh.

Do something similar, but with Disneyland!
So that's why safeways has crazy amounts off for their rewards stuff...
always have a shopping list (planning) and calculator (pricing so you fit to your budget)...and they cannot trick you anymore.
Eye opener
Another thing is the lighting in the store is like like a casinoto make you stay longer Because you wouldn't remember what time it is
That’s the same reason there’re no large clocks in stores.
thats ok for USA but in india if a person needs 1 packet of biscuits he will roam around the whole area 5 times and walk out with one biscuit packet
BRO LMFAO I DIDNT EVEN REALIZE THIS WAS U UNTIL LIKE 45 SECONDS IN HAHAHAHA
sorry to flex on them 30 subs you got. when the next smoothie making video going up?

That tide detergent at Walgreens for 7.99 plus taxes. I always wait for when they have them on sale. I don't have space for hoarding.
Poor girl, man. She kept jumping. I thought he was going to grab it and reach it for her, but he grabs it for himself, and just leaves. SMH
So what?
It broke my heart. I didn’t eat anything since last 2 days. 😢

"Razor thin profit margins." Oh geeze. That's a lie.
No doubt...store in town takes a pack of bacon that costs them under $5 and sells it for $12.
Casinos, grocery stores, ben and Jerry's.. messing with my senses.
Why they make the aisles so small? No matter where you go you're in someone's way. Makes me want toget out ASAP
Sneaky bastards. Great video!!!
Glad you liked it!
I'm short... I always get the kids level treats lol
Seems like an advantage imo 😅
I hate red colors in store.... I literally didn't like Target because of red ..I hate red lol
Don't think I did not see that studio C clip in there.
I'm a pretty good shopper. I don't fall for these tactics

The cash registers are like computers; computers can be programed and so they are programed to over charged I've never been under charged.
They have been discontinued a lot of srore brands now to force you to buy more expensive products.

Eww! Walmart sucks!
Costco is the only grocer i know of with razor thin margins....after you pay for the membership
Sneaky tricks. I commend them
I can get one buy one on anything in store lmao
One day they will catch onto what am doing I don't steal cause I do pay at check out lmao
Next time you're at a 15 items or less tell them to open more checkouts
This would have been interesting, the way he made his voice sound though...
annoying
becareful the shores are like Casinos they use racks and display stuff near the check out like Casinos trucks the tourist with their slot machines.
