Fun fact.. "Dollface" was portrayed by the supermodel Gemma Ward - basically the "It" girl of high fashion at the time.. and still highly regarded to this day. She only took the role after she was re-assured that they had no intention of actually showing her face.
I've seen a lot of horror movies in the theaters.......NONE had an audience as high strung and stressed as the first 45 mins. of this movie. You could hear a pin drop every one was wound so tight, I'll never forget that experience.
I couldn't even go to the theater to watch this because the first time I saw the trailer on tv and they showed the guy come out of the shadows behind Liv Tyler, I was frozen I got so so scared
From what I heard, the "true event" were actually 2 seperate events. One being a crew member experienced a stranger knocking on the door, seeing if someone was at home and looking for homes to break into. The other one being the "Cabin murders"...
when krisrin pokes her head out to ask, "what’s happening" I wish james would’ve been like. “a bigger version of the shit that was happening when you were inside the house “
This is one of the most realistic horror films I’ve ever seen. In today’s world this really could occur! You should react to Strangers: Prey at Night! It’s such a solid slasher and a fun ode to 80’s slasher horror! It’s also a personal favorite of mine!
The song playing on the record player when she is home alone is "The Sprout and The Bean" by Joanna Newsom and the line "Should we go outside?" was perfect for the hesitance and suspense of curiousity! "Should I go see who it is? Should I open the door? Should I run and hide?" Also, the addition of Glen Howerton (IASIP) was just (chefs kiss) that was a brutal death! I think this was his first major movie role right before the tv show!
It's Always Sunny actually started a few years before this movie came out but yes he was still very much an up and coming actor, especially in the film industry.
37:01 DNA doesn't really help much unless 1 they already have a criminal record, or 2 they are a suspect in which case they would test the DNA, just having DNA at the scene doesn't mean they'd be able to magically find the strangers, it's why even to this day killers that target just random people tale so long to be caught
This is the only horror movie that TRAUMATIZED me. I was 18 years old when it came out and to this day, I still think about it and it's still the movie that scared me the most. That scene where she is drinking in the kitchen and potato bag boy is just staring at her.... chills.
I love both Strangers movies, but the first one is my favorite. It's one of the only horror movies that can actually unnerve me. I have a fear of home invasions, because they can actually happen. I respect a horror movie than can unnerve me. "Because you were home." Brrrrrrr!
According to director Bryan Bertino, the film is partially based on an incident he experienced as a child. One evening a stranger came to his door, asked for someone who was not there, and left. Later, Bertino found out that other homes in his neighborhood had been broken into that night.
Lmao everytime I see this im like "yeah, i know why she said no, for sure!" 1. He proposed at someone elses wedding 2. How rude he is to her when she wanys to talk further about it 3. Minimizing her terror about someone being inside the house (not brlieving her and basically tellingbher to shut up) 4. Lying about hunting with his dad ("It's just something i said") The lost goes on! Horrible horror movie boyfriend. Lol
Yoooo! That's insane that Bridgette hasn't seen this! Loved your reaction as always! Also, I think I saw you guys the other day, didn't realize we live in the same place. Hit me up if you ever wanna hang out! Haha ♥ Happy Halloween!
One of my favourite scary movies!! I watched it for the first time at the theatre. I was scared to go home afterwards, I made my boyfriend drive around the city for like 2 hours before heading home lol
The director said it wasn't based on a true story other than when he was younger a person went around his neighborhood knocking on doors. Apparently robbing houses if nobody answered.
You guys should really react to strangers prey at night!!! Its my favorite of the franchise and I know bridge would freakin love it (cody too hopefully)
why would you go to a strangers house, break in,shut the power off and then play the piano? now I know where you are and you aint gonna see me come. am I the only one seeing this from a killer perspective?
Strangers Chapter 1 is a HUGE flop. They haven't been able to recapture anything that made the OG so special. This is one of my all-time fav horror films. When I worked at Family Video, it was always my #1 horror recommendation. Almost no one had seen it. Prey at Night was forgettable & also failed to evoke the fear and unsettling nature of the OG. I was cautiously optimistic for Chapter 1, but was SO DISAPPOINTED. It's too bright and polished and completely fails to induce ANY of the creepy, anxious feelings you get from this one.
Watch the latest one! I hated it but I love watching reactors hate it even more 😂😂😂. When they first announced chapter 1, I thought it was supposed to be a prequel but it’s a remake of the first film. I think you guys will have a good time disliking the movie. But then again, you may actually enjoy it.
The sequel isn't as creepy or effective horror-wise. I lacks that edge of your seat sense of dread and suspense. However, it's satisfying in other ways I won't give away. I do recommend it.
I put off watching chapter 1 cuz no one seemed to like it. I finally watched it. It’s not horrible. I expect ppl to do stupid things and that’s what happened. Pretty typical lol
We rented this movie from Hastings. My mom hates anything considered scary and that's my dad's and I bread and butter. We were scared shitless. Usually he isn't bothered by home invasion (I'm not sure if that's a straight guy thing) but this one really freaked him out. This one STILL freaks me out but I love however it's one I don't rewatch. I would also like to say, it's some white people shit to open the door when you know you're not expecting anyone to come over and HOW heavy that knock was. If you didn't say you w we really coming over, I'm not opening the door to see who is out there, I'm not helful like that. You're shit out of luck with me. I also wouldn't be living out where the neighbors are too spaced out. No thanks.
Hello from Canada as someone who is Paranormal Supernatural Researcher and Investigator , Historian and true crime buff who has been researching studying and investigating all four for over 30 years this movie is loosely based on the Keddie cabin murders in Keddie California that happened in 1981 where an entire family was murdered .
The strangers chapter 1 is an ok horror film but it's a horrendous Strangers movie. If it was called something else and had different killers, i think it would've been recieved better, but because they tried to recreate the greatest horror of all time, it flopped.

"Because you were home" is the most unsettling, terrifying line ever uttered in a horror movie.
My home is protected by my dog and Mr. Glock.

I"d love to see one of these movies where the main character yells "Go away!" and the killers are like "Oh, sorry, ok." And then the movies over.
What's funny is that in season 2 of Chucky he also asks Jake in the first episode in the phone call is Tamra home just another funny call back 😂❤

Still unsolved. That’s a really scary true crime story.

The movie was inspired by the Keddie Cabin murders, the manson family, and Bertino's own experience. This is explained by Bertino himself.
