Nothing funny about the guy that couldn't open the can. I've been there every bit as bad as he was. It's humiliating Beyond Your Wildest imaginations. I couldn't even write my name on a check at a package store. I hope this guy got the help he needs because with shakes like that he's not long for the world. I've been sober 8 years as of May 26th and plan to keep it going.
Hi John, you had it mate. Can I ask how you managed to beat it, did you join a group or face it all on your own ?
Well done on 8 years sober 👍
@@JohnnysCafe_ it took me a lot of tries probably close to 20 before I realized I couldn't do it alone. I know that's the cliche Alcoholics Anonymous throws out but it's true. This time I went through the ICU Bleeding Out internally because of the booze eaten my stomach lining and esophagus. I went to AA as soon as I was released from the hospital, shut my mouth and listened to what the old-timers said. I didn't get into it with people looking for money or any of the typical AA drama. I have mixed feelings about that program but I'll tell you it did get me sober. To maintain it I religiously talk to a sponsor who is now more of a friend. I honestly don't go to meetings anymore but I know they're there if I need them. The biggest single difference for me was that I surrendered to the disease. I remember being in the hospital realizing I just can't do this anymore, my body's broken. I gave up on drinking and as a consequence I don't allow myself to think about it anymore. That's sort of the long and short story. For me it was about getting help, listening to people that I've been through it, service work and as many meetings as I could to fit in for the first two years. If nothing else just to kill the time. The single most important thing was surrendering and developing some willpower. I hope this helps someone.
@@paddlefaster waw that's some journey you took from regular life to drinking so much you ended up in hospital, horror withdrawals, and the embarrassment of shaking unconditionally in public, your experiences might help save others, that's what the AA is about, my mother and two uncle's were alcoholics, broke up the families, they joined AA and changed their lives completely, it may have things many don't agree with like giving over to a higher power ECT, but I can't speak highly enough for AA because it has saved millions worldwide.
Thank you very much for sharing your experiences and it's great that you recovered. Keep strong John, all the best 👍👍👍
thats a sad one
@@JohnnysCafe_ How could you ever recover from that?!?
How much do you need to drink for that to happen?

Last time I was driving through Arkansas I saw some apple sellers at the side of the highway. I stopped, chatted a bit and bought some homemade liquor. I knew what was up the moment I spotted them. My friend from Arkansas couldn't believe it. We drank that stuff when we got back to the hotel (don't smoke when drinking moonshine - very flammable). Heh. I've been drunk to the point where my balance was a bit off, but never to the point where I truly couldn't walk. I always decide it's time for a nap and sack out long before I get to that point.
I've never been there. I notice that a lot of these that try to walk are tipped backwards. wonder why in many it affects the brain like that as many of them fall backwards (which can be very dangerous).
@@leecowell8165 It can affect the balance in any direction. It makes your muscles respond slowly; if you have even a few drinks, you can tell the difference in how long it takes your arm to move once you tell it to. Interestingly, the expression 'three sheets to the wind' is based on that leaning; it doesn't mean a bedsheet, it's a sailing term. In sailing, a sheet is a rope that pulls a boom tight, and a boom is a horizontal pole that serves as the base of a sail. So if you pull the sheet 'to the wind', you pull on the boom and it hauls the sail into the wind until it's tight... and the boat leans over with the wind. So if you're on a three-masted ship, and you've got three sheets taut in a decent wind, the ship's going to lean pretty noticeably... and drunk guys leaning over must have reminded sailors of that.
Cracked up!
