- The Minecraft Survival Guide Season 2 continues!
In this tutorial, we update the Survival Guide world to Minecraft 1.19.1 and immediately take a look at the mechanics behind Allay duplication. We multiply our friendly blue fairies using a jukebox and some amethyst shards, use the new recruits to help harvest a wheat field, then establish a new strip mine to see how helpful the Allays can be clearing up after a mining project. It's definitely nice having just the ore blocks in my inventory, but knowing none of the stone ended up despawning!

For me, a casual player with an interest in how Minecraft works pix is by far one of the best Minecraft content creators! Love this channel and his different video series ❤️
Agreed I've learned so much since I started watching him in 1.14 💜
I agree. I've learned more practical techniques here than anywhere else...not just what, but why/how. Great stuff, Pix!
I play less than a casual player. I just really enjoy watching MC content. And Pix is by far one of the best
Yeah but after Etho
I really can't agree with this sentiment enough. Lately I've just been DUMPING hours into minecraft but I'm not quite to the commitment level of some of the more invested minecraft mechanics and farms. Pix is the people's 'Crafter.
Allay duplication is such a useful feature for handling allays at all. Considering they weren't renewable, losing them was lamentably major. Now, it's possible that I can allot some allays for picking up tropical fish and bones left around the lakes of my mangrove swamp base because of the axolotls and clone some if I need their functionality for chores like mining with little loss.
omg this is such a good idea! i have a lush cave base with a bunch of pet axolotls (plus a blue one i bred on the 15th try- little flex lol) and they kill a ton of tropical fish in their little enclosure. was always annoying to throw the fish out whenever i visited them. thanks for sharing this, me n my lil babies appreciate it ;w;
@@buttelf what I'd recommend is to tether some allays to a note block and give them tropical fish and bones so that they clean the area up. The note block setup uses an Etho hopper clock and an observer to link the note block to the hopper clock as well as a hopper minecart occupying the same space as the note block funneling into a chest collection area (see Pix's other vid on Allays and how he used them for tree farming for a better idea on how this'd work)
Pix has such an interesting mix of design/red stone/achievements/silliness. Makes for such a great viewing experience and something to look forward to every week.
Another strategy for the loader would be to use a comparator on the hopper under the hopper minecart. Once nothing more can go into the shulker items will build up in the hopper, and you can detect when the output rises to 2 and change the shulker. That way you will be able to fill the shulkers as much as possible.
For what it's worth, Allay pathfinding is astoundingly through. Especially when compared to something like mob AI (or, even worse, the old villager pathing), Allays are capable of tracking and following you much better than almost anything else.
Most people look at it as a mob that follows you and compare it to the finicky and slow nature of herding sheep or cows with wheat in your hand, but Allays are not that at all. If I had to make a direct comparison, I would say that they are more similar to how pets can teleport than anything else.
All in all, a really great job that Mojang has done with making their pathfinding good and reliable. Love the little guys!
Yeah... Not they're not at all practical for servers solve they're a major cause for lag!
This is the first time I've seen allays used how they were intended and it's really neat! :3 It's so fun to watch them zoom around with items.
Pix, this is amazing! I didn't know how to get Allays mining. Also im a fan of yours it feels like for 4 years. I loved the survival guide. You are the redstone genius. Bye
Yeah I didn’t know how to get them mining either because so many people said that u could just give them a pickaxe.
@@Linkathon i guess i skiped that part
Allays are so cute, I'm glad we can make more of them using amethyst!
Pix, you could use a chest boat instead of a hopper-minecart. The chest has 27 slots, and if placed correctly, it can feed into 9 hoppers at a time!
Those 9 hoppers still need to be fed into a single shulker box. The chest minecart could act as a storage buffer, but only until it fills up. The problem is the transfer rate into the shulker box itself.
@@Pixlriffs doesn’t have to be just one shulker loader… split out to nine loaders…
This was so useful! I have been looking for tutorials for allay duplicating but couldn’t find any! Thanks for the help pix!!!
Thank you for actually focusing on the gameplay elements of this sub-update, instead of just ranting about the player chat reporting thingie like other youtubers do...
This is why i'm very happy that allay won the mob vote a little cute mining helper💙
I was really looking forward to this! Love how you break down the mechanics in the game!
This is what the community wanted tbh
item collector friend.. so cute and adorable
imagine if copper golem or that angry lettus won the vote
man, we would've lost so much. Thanks to all who voted for The Allay
Right exactly, I know the copper golem is cute and plenty of people seem to be sad that it lost but I think we really are living in the best timeline for any mob vote yet.
I didn't vote allay because I feel like fetching should be a functionality to be added to wolf, which is currently rather useless. But allay able to fly is probably more useful.
Why not both :(
@Kyle Porter the way the voting works, all the choices will be implemented and are actively conceptualized, but only the winning vote is added soon. The others will be over time
I love the music disc "Ward". It does start off somber-esque, and a lot of people don't get past that. It's very dynamic though, if you listen to the full disc.
Finally managed to catch up to the newest episode on this series. Even while binging the playlist there is so much great info to absorb. Thank you for an amazing series can't wait for more!!!
It makes me happy that the top comments here aren't about how stupid 1.19.1 is for the chat moderation feature. I get that people should have free speech, but when every other Minecraft chat is just full of the same words being repeated over and over, it's a nice break to see people appreciate the finer things in this update.
"thanks for not talking about what I'm gonna talk about"? hmm
Haven't found an Allay in my survival world yet and I'm glad this change is now here.
Nice video, I missed the survival series this week 😁
Cheers!
Me and my friend literally just brought back 2 allays from a pillager outpost 2 days ago. Thanks for your help!
dude this is wild… love the series so much
great timing just got home from school. love the allays they're so cute
Great Video. You have to have the 2 Allys in the wheat farm name tagged with "Porkchop" and "Rocket" in your next episode. I mean you just have to. Who's with me?
If Pix doesn’t use those as Allay names, I just might!
I have played my fare share and know lots of the basics and the more advanced secrets, but I still come back to your videos and manage to learn something new. Also, it’s just fun to watch your builds grow!!
Best video about allay mining and duplication that I've seen! Well done Pixlriffs! Thank you.
i’m thinking that you’ll give a allay cobblestone depending on if your using sick-touch or fortune
just now had the time to watch the episode, and allays are so cute
Great video as always pix, btw there's some deepslate coal in that cave near the geode at 11:33
I think there should be a way to make allays pick up more than one type of item: Perhaps giving them a bundle or shulker box with items in it would make them pick up only the items in the bundle/box?
Lol there's already some nostalgia revisiting this after watching the first videos daily through episode 20 or something. Ecpecially with the music :D.
Ngl. I missed waking up and starting my day with pixlriffs. Your the goat my dude
Nothing's more relaxing than a video from Pix after such a stressful day... 😌
Thanks for this video. Now I'm ready to try it.
That flick at 11:14!!! While fighting and talking. Wow Pix, I had to watch that one a few times.
Just like to say thanks for the amazing content get so much inspiration on my builds and game play from both you and sausage who knows one day we may get to mine together haha 👍
you can make use of chest boat for quicker item collection since it can feed up to 3x3 set of hopper, that way the hopper minecart have quicker flow of item
How does that solve the problem? While the chest boat can be drained very quickly, it doesn't really help here because you still have to put the items into the chest boat. The bottleneck is the hopper line. He needs to distribute the items collected by the minecart(s) over multiple parallel hopper lines that feed directly into the shulker box (depending on how fast the items are coming in, you might need multiple shulker loaders to keep up)
First time and video I watched from this guy it was in 2019, a Woodland Mansion guide. Almost 5 years later he's still amazing as ever at explaining and teaching you things. I remember him asking the piglin to get out of the camera so he could keep recording the show lol. Maybe it was a different episode. But funny af still
Great Video!
Hey pix, I love your videos and check for them everyday in the morning. I had an idea for possibly fixing the item collection system, how about you use the hopper minecart's large hitbox area for your advantage. You will be able to fill 4 hoppers at once meaning 4 different shulker box loading systems and 4x the speed to compare to 1x of a single one
this thing made mineing sooo easy thanks pixlriffs for makeing video
Is there any chance of a world tour video at any point? I’m pretty new to your channel and some of the builds and such I’ve seen in the background of your Survival Guide videos look pretty impressive.
no fluff no filler, just pure minecraft, it must be a pixlrifts video... love it
Great information pix
It would seem to me that the best solution would be to just make more modules for the different mining resources, especially since each Allay can be assigned to the separate modules. More setup work but much more organized in the end
Hey for the bridge you made in empires season 2 make all the pillars have details of all the old empires from season 1 but make them all run down like they were built when the bridge was built
I'm so excited for when I'll be able to clone allays in Jimmy's member server. I'm gonna try making mumbo's unstackable item sorter.
Cute and usefully!
Nice Allay application introduction. Would be interested in your take on Allays as building helpers, where they deliver you building materials, so you don't have to run back and forth so much if at all.
That'd be a fun challenge. I'll give it a try in future :)
I will be looking forward to Pixlriffs experimenting with allays in automated farms. I have had some success with this in my own survival world, per a rather lengthy reply to another commenter, but also noticed some issues, especially when trying to use multiple allays and with isolating note block signals from allays outside the farm. Allays are a great replacement for hopper minecart tracks. I'm hoping Pixlriffs will be able to help refine these farm designs and clear up any misconceptions about how they work.
They're cute, but it seems almost more trouble than it's worth, setting all that up and then having to kind of baby-sit them or otherwise change how you're mining to make it work. If I did it, I might simplify a bit, say put the noteblock in the center of 8 hoppers surrounding it, with them going into 2 or more shulkers to the sides, then every so often manually checking and swapping to a new shulker if one is full.
Hmm. This video reminds me that you can get some Allay from near an Illager Outpost. I seem to recall seeing one when wandering around the new 1.19.1 world I started (which amusingly, turns out to have a *huge* Mushroom Island not far from spawn...with an Ocean Monument not far offshore of it. I have some rather neat options open once I manage to get geared up for proper adventuring. :-) )
Pix being paranoid of the Allays might not follow him is just amusing.
The Allay Sway is absolutely adorable 🎶
If you're okay with making it a bit more of an operation, you can hook up to three item collection systems into the same shulker box loader, and alternate which one the allays throw their stuff into by having a clock ring each one in sequence instead of the same one. A bit more involved, ofcourse, but worth considering.
To clarify, are you suggesting a setup where each item collection system has its own hopper line feeding into the shulker box, so that the boxes are filled at 3x hopper speed?
I watched the video completely already... although it has only been out for 3 mins.
PARKOUR!
Awwwww a cute little blue angel. I'mma force it to work in a mine for me 🤣
Ok for real though, the fact that we have something that can mine for us is insane!
yeaahh.. an episode
I don't suppose Chest Boat can help with Full Hopper situation?
Can you not detect the hopper feeding the shulker backing up?
This video just made me want the allay for the first time. I havent bothered with them because i don't have a good handle on Redstone. Do you have a video that slowly and easily teaches how to make an efficient allay collect ion system. I an terrible with Redstone. I have problems making simple sugarcane farms, a bamboo automatic farm would be much appreciated to o. Btw i love your videos, very ready to listen to. I listen all day at work to Montecarlo videos and yours are the best. Another issue i have is i play mostly on Android pocket edition so even a lot if the bedrock features don't always work the same
This is good 👍
Does the Allays’ picking up the items repeatedly reset the despawn countdown?
How do you keep your wheat field allays from wandering off? Mine tend to wander off
can u put fore aspect on ur sword
The picture of the alley carrying an enchanted pickaxe is enogh to leave a like for. 👍 ⛏
Could you set up a second note block and hopper on the other side of the shulker box to reduce the backup?
Potentially, yes! Although I'm not sure how the allays would react to multiple note blocks playing near each other.
Just a thought, though certainly too complicated for the test you were doing...rather than a single shulker loader, how about multiple loaders at the end of a sorting system, so that each shulker gets filled with only one type of item?
You should make an enclosure for em!
what if you use a chest boat unloader to collect all the minirals for allay mining
"I need him to come on down to the mines."- Pixlriffs 2022
this is something that might have occurred to you already but, would the way that multiple hoppers going into and coming out of a chest boat help with the bottleneck of how fast the single hopper mine-cart can drop off items?
It forestalls the problem but doesn't solve it. Feeding items in via a chest boat creates a storage buffer - a middle point where items could be stored temporarily while they wait to be transferred to the shulker box - but that doesn't feed the items into the shulker box any faster. Eventually the storage buffer will fill up, and you end up with the same problem. Multiple hoppers feeding into the shulker box (or an item filter and multiple shulker boxes) is really the only solution.
@@Pixlriffs ah yeah, that makes a lot of sense. thanks for taking the time to explain why that wasn't a viable solution!
Hey Pix, I was wondering does the allay duplication count toward the two by two advancement?
Nope - I think that advancement specifies breeding, and also “animals”. This isn’t technically breeding and Allays don’t really fall under the definition of animals either.
@@Pixlriffs Thanks!
Allays are so adorable. What were we thinking when we voted the phantoms god only knows
Even though Pigstep Otheside and 5 are rare everyone knows the best song is Ward.
I hate how they did this duplacation. They finally gave a use for woodland mansions again..but whop. Now its gone just like before.
Hmm, I don't see how these beat hoppers/minecart hoppers.
The things it can help you with seem very minor at best.
Perfect, a "how to" for Allays. Now, to FIND an Allay in my world. 😂 because there's none within 1000 blocks of me, even at the half dozen Pillager outposts or the ONE mansion I found and doesn't have any cells in it...🙄
Oh gosh... hope you find some soon!
Do you think it would be possible to have fully automatic mining using a tunnel bore and a bunch of allays delivering the resources to a pre-built water stream? If possible, even if it was only ~70% reliable, I think such a quarry would revolutionize mining
Possible, but difficult to protect the Allays from flying into the TNT as it explodes.
Wondering how far from the note Block you can go ?
When the Allays were first revealed in the mob vote I wasn't really interested, I really didn't like any of the options, but this video showed me that they are a lot more interesting than I thought, and also incredibly useful.
10:13 ...You covered up a Lapis ore right at the bottom of the shaft you were digging.
So…….
Can you please name tag those allays as Firework and Porkchop for the nostalgia? If you don’t I will have to hunt some down myself…
Fire aspect
I've just got up to date with series and now I don't know what to watch :C
Pix where were you on empires?
On Jimmy stream he was looking for you
I was fishing. And Jimmy didn’t want me for anything in particular, he just wanted to say hi
Ok pix
Why is this the only non boring tutorial lets-play?
Pix I think iz a stretch to call diorite “decorative”
Lol, trucking in a breeding pair (?) and leaving behind a village, allay's will inherit the cube
Man, you ara fantastic!!! Amazeing content always!!!
I don't know why people only think of using the nether for fast travel if they are far out, I always bring eyes of ender so that I can hop in the nearest end portal and go right back to spawn. I did this with my own allays that I found.
If you aren't a speed runner the time that it takes you to find the stronghold and the end portal would probably be slower than just flying back in the overworld, and would be a lot slower than using existing nether infrastructure.
@@maxwellli7057 ya but sometimes you are just so far away and it is faster, I'm talking about those cases. But if you are within 4-10k of your base then I agree with you and just use the nether.
I want to make a resource pack to replace a minecraft song with Careless Whisper. That’s what I want playing when duplicating Allays
Maybe you can add a farmer there to make it automated?
Open, organic wheat field designs like this do not make for easy automated farms - and right now, villager AI makes it difficult to avoid the farmers taking most of the wheat for themselves and turning it into bread.
We'll probably make some auto crop farms in future, but they're more productive if they're contained.
I have built several vegetable farms using villagers and allays in my own survival world with some success. Each farm is contained within a structure that prevents the allays wandering away from the farm, and each farm uses only one allay. I pair up two adjacent farms with a single compact 2-two stroke hopper clock, which does not use pistons, between them to signal the note block in each farm at 31- to 32-second intervals. Wool blocks are placed between the farms to prevent the note block vibration signals reaching the allay in the opposite farm. The design works very well for potatoes, carrots and eggs. Before turning the farmer loose in the farm, I fill its inventory with potatoes or carrots, so the farmer drops harvested items right away. For the wheat farm, I preload the farmer with wheat seeds to prevent it picking up wheat items. I tried using two allays in the wheat farm (one for wheat the other for seeds) but that did not work well, I think because the farmer needs to pick up seeds to keep its inventory full of them. I expect the same to apply to beetroot farms. I like using allays for these farms as it eliminates the need for a hopper minecart collection track and the resulting noise. The 31- to 32-second note block signal interval is important as the allay attention span is 30 seconds and note block signals emitted more frequently seem to be ignored by an actively gathering allay and can result in the allay idling. It is especially important to use wool to prevent note block signals getting to allays in nearby farms as they will try to fly to a note block they cannot reach. Finally, in version 1.19, it appeared that only one allay was receiving the note block vibration particles, so more than one allay did not seem to work well, especially if allays outside the farm receive the signal. If that was a real issue in 1.19, and not just a misperception on my part, perhaps it has been corrected with the release of the 1.19.1 update. I am hoping that Pixlriffs will experiment with allays in these types of automated farms to help refine the design and clear away misconceptions we might have about how they work.
Where?
Hello
Please name tag those two new Allay as "Firework" and "Porkchop"! 🙏 🙏 🙏
Hi pix
Music disc Mall: Am I a joke to you?
G.O.A.T
Do we know the furthest the Allays can be from the note block before they don't respond to it?
A player can hear a note block within 48 blocks. I don’t think Allays are the same, I’d assume they have to be within 16 blocks. But then they remember its location for 30 seconds, so they can travel pretty far and still return to it
Is the allay duplication a feature or bug?
A new feature added to 1.19.1 along with...
Never mind!
ok
