Great video I used to have a filter like that it was so heavy to lift the sponges out glad I went to a easy pod have a nice bank holiday

Hi Carol. Yes those sponges are a bit heavy to lift when full of water. Fortunately he doesn't have to do it very often. When he upgrades he might be able to manage with an easy pod but I would advise a Nexus 220 or a drum and bio combi.

Very interesting video and yeah even the baby nexus 220 would be more than sufficient although id add an Aqua Forte compact sieve (pump fed only) before the nexus then you've practically got a combi drum with no moving parts to go wrong !

That filter does well for the fish he has in the pond but he will need better if he wants to add much more

Manufacturers sometimes try to be way too clever with filter design.
Give me a multibay and baki shower any day of the week.
You just need to take the foams out and give them a rinse.

I agree with you. Keep it simple and there is less to go wrong
