GGs on the 3 star rank 👍🏾 Iirc, you can hold items behind you using Left OR Right on the Dpad with the Wii wheel. Although, I'm not sure what would happen if you also accidentally pressed up or down whilst holding left or right - maybe you'll just throw your item, lol. Btw, I think you can only unlock Funky Kong by unlocking 4 expert staff ghosts in Time Trials. I say I think because there are multiple ways to unlock multiple characters and vehicles in MKW. For example, to unlock Rosalina, you could either create a Super Mario Galaxy save file on your (v)Wii and finish 50 races, or you could get a star rank or higher in every Mirror Mode cup. I think you could also unlock her by finishing thousands of races, lol. That said, I'm 90% sure TTs are the only way to unlock Funky. Best to check the wiki I guess (or ask someone else to do it if you don't want to get spoiled).
Oh interesting. Okay I didn't realize the requirements for Funky were more so towards the end of what I would be doing for my MKWii series. I'll have to look into it though so I can double check.
yooo 3 stars, huge! you're right that shell cup is easier, it has all the simple tracks for the most part. it has the 2 shortest tracks in the entire game, yoshi falls and ghost valley 2. I'm like you that I dislike yoshi falls, but I like gv2. even though gv2 is short, it's a lot of fun to drive. it's actually the track I've played the absolute most in time trials, my personal best is around 54.8 seconds

Also, what a start to the video getting immediately bumped off the track twice 😢 Yoshi Falls is my totally favorite track in this game, jk jk this track is trash 😂 Ghost Valley 2 is a solid simple track tbh. But, it's not amazing by any means. Mario Raceway is definitely my favorite in the Shell Cup! No questions asked! Such a classic. 3 Star Rank!! Not a shock at all, cause you did VERY well!! Y'all can't see my placement in the race because I'm covering it, but if I didn't have my face cam turned on, y'all would be able to see my placement where I usually sit.
It is SO hard! Hitting walls, falling off the track, and not getting 1st every race are big things that knock off your star rank chances. Try focusing on those three things and you SHOULD get at least one star! Good luck!

I recently started playing MKWii on Dolphin after many years of not touching it and I just can't get the stars on Grand Prix, especially 150cc.
It is SO hard!
