A REFRESHING tour of Morocco | WIDE

Green is the astonishing miracle of water in a country where a third of the territory is covered by arid deserts and where rainfall is rare.
At the bottom of the ochre valleys, the wadis have allowed the cultivation of a few fields and orchards.
To the south of Ouarzazate, the most beautiful palm groves of the Kingdom are discovered. In this valley, 2 million date palms reign over the trees and crops. These plants with golden fruit hide under their palms what was the essential food of the nomads and which is of all the rituals in the life of a Moroccan.
But in the Muslim world, green is first of all the color of Islam. The most worthy representative of this sacred color is the highest religious building in the world, the famous Hassan II mosque, built partly on the sea in Casablanca.
