I get asked all the time...which beginner guitars do I recommend?
Electric Guitars:
Yamaha Pacifica - “Student guitar”The most versatile electric guitar for the beginner and beyond. they do rock, blues, jazz and metal and anything else you can think of! I LOVE them!
amzn.to/3gecQ8R
Jet Guitars.Fairly new to me, but they play brilliantly. A silly amount of guitar for such a low price tag!
Links coming soon!
Acoustic Guitars:
Cort AF510 - Budget beginner guitar
These have a folk sized body, which is a smaller sized body better for lady chests, and cake bellies. I've sold lots of these guitars to students and they're impressively well put together. I always have a bunch in when I teach my live guitar classes at my music school.

Great explanation! Razorblade by the Strokes is a good song to practice to help w A Major chords
Do I take the biscuits out first?
Yes. We never waste biscuits. Ever.
You are one of the best music teachers on the tube.
'we dont wanna be un sympathetic ..'
next line ... 'Poor Tobias, his life slipped by us'
😆😆😆uh, i cant stop laughing😂😂😂
James and I had way too much fun editing this one 😂
Amazing lesson. I remember buying a book about this quite some years ago and being blown away with the possibilities for creating some really lovely sounding chord voicings. Wish I'd seen this video instead !
7:43 … “… that has passed …”. Nice save.
Don’t want to be responsible for THAT …
I didn't want to be accused of burying hamsters alive... 😂
I would say that minor shapes with the A drone sounds... apprehensively positive maybe? Or positively apprehensive? PS, that progression sounds like the ending of a Traveling Wilburys song.
Nice lesson Ricky!
Nice Sigma By Martin Guitar as well. I have one as well. Nice sound! Das 😎 all. 😉👍👍
Thank you for making this great lesson for us Ricky.
My pleasure
Bra Ricky! ( In Swedich mens Bra ”Good”
I'm glad you explained. I might have taken it as a clothing suggestion 😂
I like the sound of these chords with the high E string allowed to sound as well. Very pretty chords indeed! Why don't the minor chords sound as sad when used in this context?!? Very perplexing, but this sad tone I usually hear in minor chords seemed less prevalent in context.
Bro I can't get pass the Tobias song that was hilariously fantastic 😅
😂😂😂
Great lesson, would be great to have a similar one that is in a Minor key as opposed to Major
Gotcha! We'll see if folks dig this lesson. If they do I'll make a video.
The shapes are the same you know. Just in a different order.
A minor would be:
am - bdim - C - dm - em - F - G
Chords with the open A tonal centre.
am - x 0 2 2 1 0
bdim - x 0 3 4 3 0
C - x 0 5 5 5 0
dm - x 0 7 7 6 0
em - x 0 9 9 8 0
F - x 0 10 10 10 0
G - x 0 12 12 12 0
@@rickysguitar Ah I see, thanks for explaining that Ricky
Like the storyboard cool !
Boys Don’t Cry
Awesome Rick..It all adds up now. My AHA moment. Will have to try those triads..Thanks.
Hi Ricky, if I order your book, is there a playlist of videos that goes along with the lessons in the book? If so, which one should I look for. Much thanks, Lance in Costa Rica.
Eyup Lance. Yes, I’ve set up an area on my website where all the videos are in 1 spot. You can also get to them inside my online community fretboardfraternity.com it’s free to join the community.
@@rickysguitar Thank you Ricky. I DID buy the ebook yesterday but I can’t figure out how to see any of the lessons. I open the link under the “learning” tab and it gives me links to all of the lessons but when I click on them it just pulls up a video…no actual book content. Not sure what I’m missing, but I’ve looked EVERYWHERE trying to figure out how to open the actual ebook with no success.
Edit: I’ve finally figured it out. Haha 🙄
Rick, respectfully, I think the PDF has a few errors. The IV chord D/A is shown on the 5th fret--should be on the 7th. And the V Chord E/A is shown on the 7th fret---should be on the 9th. Cheers!
You’re right! New software for producing diagrams. Missed that error. I’ll rectify it tomorrow. Well spotted
The sigma is gorgeous
It has a lovely tone and super easy to play!
Which model is that and what string gauge are you using?
Awesome....always have a light bulb moment!
Triads are truly a game changer
