Bought the atomic 20V for building pools for the panel bolts. Hopefully it performs well over the summers

Ive had the 887 for many years I believe mine is an older version but it has great torque and I dont have a reason to get anything else.

I'd go with the 845. I like the extra speed and lightness. Torque is nice to have but let's be honest most GRKs and timberloks won't be a problem for these impact drivers. If I need to sink lags I'd switch to an impact wrench

The DCf801 is my go to it's just light and compact has the power to get the job done also

Agreed. It's a bargain too. I keep the DCF801 and Milwaukee M12 Fuel on my workbench at all times and reach for them frequently over more powerful models.

I’ve never seen the 845 and 850 lose to 887, but it looks like you are using 2amp batteries? Perhaps that’s why, the other tests they usually use larger batteries or the powerstack. So perhaps the 887 is better with the 2.0 battery since that’s probably what it was designed around, so many years ago

agreed - 840/845/850 all consistently beat the 887 in testing. Only other explanation besides battery choice i might have is that since this is actually an 888, maybe there's something slightly different about the power management tech in the 888 that is making the diference vs the 887. Probably about to be a moot point anyway with the 860 (& 870) on the horizon :D

Yeah. Because using whopping great batteries on a light and compact tool really makes sense.

I think you should a tested the dcf840 cause I believe it'll beat all except the 850 for compact size. Only drawback is the 840 is only a single balls to the wall speed!!!

In this video, we're displaying the DCF888. It's the same internals and specs as the DCF887 but has integrated toolconnect bluetooth. So, the switch in the base is replaced with lighted buttons. The DCF887 is the way to go to save a few bucks since Toolconnect isn't that useful for most people.

If you need to screw 500 screws a day the saved time might make a difference, otherwise the handling and nice compact feeling of the 850 is top for me.
Thanks to high RPM you can even easily use it with shockwave drills etc.

It really is crazy the performance Dewalt squeezed out of the compact design.
