Jersey uses a ballpoint needle. its not as sharp so when you have a thicker weave, it is more likely to find a gap in the weave and pull the thread through it instead of piercing through it and potentially cutting individual strands of the weave. Short answer: jersey for thicker stretchy fabrics, regular stretch for thinner stretchy fabrics
