Totally awesome that a son does that for his dad. Each generation is said by the prior generation that they are not worth a crap. Yeah each generation has its 10%. But this kid is definitely part of the 90% that are awesome
My grandfather bought my truck new in St. Louis, July 1958. Been in the family since. I restored it once in 1986 and drove it until 2016. Now that I own a restoration shop, I tore it down again. Replaced much of the sheetmetal and finally get to use the massive collection of NOS parts I've been collecting my whole life. Not a big fan of how low this truck is but to each their own. The gold they painted it is off color, a very common mistake. I was able to preserve a spot on my firewall that had original paint and had it scanned. One if the major paint manufacturers has a formula that is spot on. I painted my truck this color when I did it the first time not knowing better. They restored one at the Guild which, on TV is extremely close to the color. Still, this truck is amazing.
are you referring to 689 Anniversary Gold? Looking to repaint mine but finding it difficult to find the right formula. Any suggestions beyond scanning the old paint

An absolutely beautiful truck. I also have an anniversary edition 3200 that was my grandpa's which he ordered from the factory.
Excellent story, wonderful truck, great company!!
Very touching. The truck is such a work of art.
