  • Sal with ProductsByPros and Bryan do a BluVac TruBlu Pro kit unboxing video. They also talk a bit about the BluVac Micro and BluVac Pro micron gauges.
The basic micron gauge in the BluVac family is the BluVac Micro. That product family also includes the BluVac LTE and BluVac Pro micron gauges. The main difference between all three micron gauges is the software that comes with them; we find that the sensors are accurate and reliable on all three gauges. The BluVac Pro's software is more comprehensive than the BluVac Micro; you can set and hit decay targets on the former but not the latter.
The TruBlu kit's case is very sturdy and seals nicely, which prevents contamination from getting into stored hoses. Enclosed within the kit are instructions and best practices for a fast and deep vacuum, which provides just-in-time education. The TruBlu kit comes with 3 meter-long hoses, which are wide-diameter (3/4") and can bend tightly and in many different positions. TruBlu hoses are vinyl-coated and don't absorb moisture, and they allow you to get a good seal.
Vacuum-rated hoses don't have core depressors in them, so the kit also comes with two separate core depressors. (Note: The advanced kit does NOT come with core depressors, an extra hose, or 90-degree fittings.)
The kit also comes with core removal tools (CRTs). These CRTs are vacuum-rated and allow you to pull the core out easily with a sliding end piece. You can connect your micron gauge to the CRT with a brass adapter (with a core depressor). It's important that you fully depress the core when attaching your micron gauge. The BluVac CRTs also have double-gaskets.
The Pro kit comes with 90-degree fittings, a 1/2" connector, a 3/8" connector, a T connector, three small clamps, three large clamps, and many additional O-rings.
You can connect your tree to the vacuum pump in multiple orientations. Take off the plastic caps, use the properly sized port, and use a clamp to attach the T connector. You'll need some O-rings (use the ones with metal O-rings for the T). In the rig shown in this video, we use a small clamp because it can sufficiently overlap on both sides. (Make sure you have a snug fit, but don't use a wrench to over-tighten it!) Then, you can connect your hoses.

I bought 2 trublu evacuation kits about 6 months ago. I know results very. That being said, I’ve had trouble with both sets to the point that now, I’m at total replacement and going with something else. The 1/4 inch connector piece leaks at the seal and no way of tightening it. It flops inside because the snap ring design doesn’t seem to be a good design. The 1/2 adapter side has come apart several times. The snap rig poops out. These issues are on both sets, all the port fittings, and the clamps.
It leaves no room on mini splits for hands to tighten. It has cost us a lot of man hours extra trying to achieve evacuation. When it works, it works well and fast just like HVAC School suggests but in the field and in cold weather it’s like wrestling a bear. The hose becomes stiff to the point I have to put inside the truck with the heater on. I’m in Tennessee - imagine if I was in Michigan. The $500 purchase price was a lot of money for my small company. Now both of these sets will need to be replaced. Especially since I can’t find replacement parts.
Wish I could show pictures here and maybe a video showing the failures.

17:18 - Yes! Definitely remove the fittings to allow the O-rings to return to state. Having these left compressed over time will flatten the O-ring and not make as secure a seal in the future.

This an interesting product. Hand-tightened hose fittings will become an issue due to over/under tightening. As distributed, these clamps should be supplied with different (smaller) screws, torque settings and a calibrated torque device to tighten. Both sizes of clamps and thumbscrews will be an encumbrance to connections outside a laboratory environment. There should be a small case of expendable parts supplied--o rings, clamps, screws, et cetera.
The hoses themselves look magnificent. They should have never been marketed as universal hoses for the reasons above, et al. Instead of $600-$700, for a master-of-none kit, the hoses should be manufactured with permanent connections for specific use. Pricing could be lowered and sales would achieve equilibrium faster.
This is a great demonstration of the product, however. The product itself looks excellent. Given some refinement, it could be superior to most everything out there.

Yes use some sort of lubricant to seal them it is necessary for any kind of imperfections that’s how these things were originally used in the laboratory use usually a silicone lubricant instead of the sticky tack and I log that makes a mess everywhere. This way you will not be second-guessing your tools if you use a silicone grease because even if it was a tiny imperfection in the O ring it will still seal. This is coming from somebody who has 41 years of using a micron gauge who is taught by his father that used laboratory micron gauge since he was young who taught by a close friend of his who worked in Genetron /(DuPont) / Honeywell as a refrigerant chemist who invented some of the refrigerants blends of decades ago.

t lech do you have a preferred vendor for the silicone lubricant if necessary?

Tc The easiest to get usually in most parts of the country you’re NAPA auto supply parts. it comes in toothpaste looking tube made out of plastic, or like an old fashion tin toothpaste tube it’s non-hardening extremely low temperatures to extremely high temperatures a little thicker than Vaseline. Dialectic grease which is also used to coat the inside of automotive spark plug boot to make airtight and watertight seal. There is also a food grade when working around food what is a thick whitish color looks like baby diaper ointment for rashes. Also available at lab supply for laboratories that have beakers and glass. When you perform vacuum distilling where all the stoppers in any silicone hoses used to slide together all mating sealing surfaces get a thin coat of silicone grease.
What is just been discovered in the last decade maybe in the HVAC industry I don’t know how all this information got lost it’s all old-school everything about vacuum there relearning about moisture and acid about superheat and sub cooling about deep vacuum this was all taught to my father when he was young. If you do sit researching go back and look for old laboratory manuals back in Europe more than 100 years ago in the research on vacuum and moisture removal purifying products in performing laboratory processes it is nothing new and has been well researched over 100 years ago. It’s such a sad state of affairs how the education system in our country has declined so far and we’re coming back into a Renaissance and discovering things as if they were new.

t lech thanks for the response. Perhaps we have the capitalist society we live in partly driving the lack of education in the HVAC industry. Warm body in a truck can turn a profit wether or not they care to have a clue. The industry will need to quickly relearn the already known when the first customer asks what micron vacuum was achieved when commissioning there brand new system. Thanks again for your comment and your dedication to enlighten those who want to be. I am great full
