I have a habit now of watching one of your videos just prior to leaving to play a round. I find have these good swing thoughts ( thanks to you ), really helps me on the course. Thank you for your hard work putting these videos together--much appreciated--Mark
Thanks, Alister. You certainly describe the worst tendencies I have in this video, but there are more and more very good swings creeping into my game thanks to your help. Best regards
Excellent video Alistair on fixing the downswing! I like your suggestion of starting the downswing with the arms! I am also conscious of my shoulders because I try to always swing in to out. I am very aware as to the importance of the right elbow being in to my right side on the downswing. And, I instantly know when it leaves my side because the outcome of the shot is not good! The other challenge I have is to make sure I'm getting a proper hip rotation. Good Job Alistair! Keep up the good work!
I totally needed this. Lately, I've been turning too early leading to thin shots and fade shots. Earlier today, I tried this and it totally corrected my swing. My ball striking improved and I was able to hit more straight and slight draws. The problem I seem to have at times is how my wrist should be from takeoff through impact. If you could make a video on correct wrist path, I'd appreciate it! And thank you!
Wow, this is so true for me. I really fight early extension, but when I do what you describe, I don’t. When I make a good strike it doesn’t feel like I rotate, like I’m hitting the ball with my back to the target. But I always finish with my buckle at the target, rotation must be happening later in my downswing right? It seems like the more I focus on rotation, the more I extend which I assume is because rotation is happening way too soon in my downswing right? Thank you again for this video!!!
Great video, Alistair. I always see something I can take to the practice range. I must admit, that not all golf coaches can maintain their hips deep enough through the strike. Just about all coaches I've seen on RUclips--including Golf Pass coaches, Be Better Golf, Mike Malaska, Jim McLean, and others--tend to come off their butt line ever so slightly. We are talking about mere inches here, not the straight standing up that some amateurs do. Is it OK to come off the butt line so long as you keep rotating? Even Rory McIlroy and Jon Rahm come off the tush line a little.
Love the content. I tend to struggle with this for driver more than irons. Noone seems to cover driver, is there anything different I should be doing? What I tend to do applying the 'fixes' is hitting down on the driver and getting either a poor contact or applying more left to right spin due to attack angle. When I early extend with driver, I tend to push the ball right but the strike is solid. Any ideas on how I can transfer this to the driver?
Early extension always happens more with driver due to extra speed making the body shut down more. It’s the same principles, just make sure your stay closed longer with your torso and hips to create space. Got a good driver video out start of July also!
This is a great lesson in theory, but I slowed down the video at the end and noticed that you DON'T drop your hands straight down like you did on the first drill. My biggest problem is that my swing looks great on practice swings, I drop my hands and come in with a shallow in-to-out path. But when I tee up a real ball my swing looks like yours in that I don't drop my hands very well and end up with a slightly out-to-in path. I can play golf like this, with an easy fade, but at 75 I need the extra distance that a draw will give me. Any suggestions??
Hi my swing isn’t perfect for sure, I can shallow it, drop the hands buts it’s a conscious move not natural. It’s takes lots of reps to make it happen naturally. Keep working at it and find a thought that does the best version for you
I'm a little confused. I've been told so many times the swing starts from the ground up. Now it sounds like you are saying the arms are starting the swing. ?????
The lower half starts the swing but if the arms get left behind that causes issues. So the feel needed for some golfers is the arms lead like described Also watch this ruclips.net/video/d5tx8BDvM-U/видео.html
Thanks for watching the early extension fix that nobody tells you! - let me know what swing areas you want videos on !

Nice swing. Good tips thanks. Eric
Thanks Eric
Simply brilliant.
Thanks 🙏
Hi Outstanding video. What swing trigger do you recommend to start the backswing from the address position? Thanks Fred P.
Thanks I would try the lead shoulder or the hands moving first

Thanks, a little is fine for sure ideally keep it under a few cms

I did watch your suggested video. I'm going to try all three swings, then see what I like for me. Thank you for your help. Love your training videos.
