From "Parks & Recreation": a mockumentary series following Leslie Knope (Amy Poehler), the deputy director of the Parks and Recreation department in the fictional town of Pawnee, Indiana. Leslie is determined to improve her small world through her job, despite resistance from Parks Director Ron Swanson (Nick Offerman), an anti-government Libertarian. Everyone needs a Donna in their life, but always be sure to _be_ a Donna for someone else!
Folks say that they want a friend like Leslie, someone to love like Ann, to have a role model like Ron, to be able to redeem oneself like Ben, to be as confident as Tom, to have the innocence of Andy, to always be yourself like April, to overcome your demons like Chris, or to have the perfect life like Garry. But to get all that, you need to be *Donna.*

Still one of my favorite moments and most heart warming of all the show is when Donna tricks everyone into calling him Garry. I legitimately teared up a little for how wonderful of a person Donna is for that

@@techscw I haven't watched the show, but from what I understand, there's this huge technology company which is super shady and they were the ones that made the phone. Starts with a "G" I think? I understand the comment is not very helpful, but I tried to fill in the gaps where I could (or rather, I guess I'm creating the gaps for others to fill in).
@@trickytreyperfected1482 You're right, Gryzzl. They built a ton of gadgets, gave the town wifi, etc. And then turned out to be spying on everybody through their tech.

Ben was always nice to him aswell, and Ron seemed to have some semblance of respect for him
@@cliffysilver6612 in order of niceness to Gary, it's Ben who has never joined in on making fun and had wholesome moments with Gary, Donna who laughs in a non mean spirited way but still a real one, Leslie who makes fun but still does nice gestures as she does with everyone, Ann who's just nice but has limited interaction, Chris who also has limited interaction but it's funny because he impartially acknowledges Gary as a loser, Ron who respects but shows tough love by actively making fun of Gary, Andy who sees Gary as a buddy but like a jock/nerd dynamic so he gives him a hard time, April who makes fun of Gary and it gets a little mean spirited, and Tom who goes out of his way to point out everything wrong or blames Gary cuz he has a fear of being in Gary's shoes so it gets really mean spirited.

Garry's moment at Donna's wedding is one of my favorite moments of the show. It's extremely wholesome and I love it
Funny thing is, Gary had the best home life of all of them. He had a beautiful happy wife, and 3 lovely daughters to go home to. I think sometimes their cruelty was born from a place of envy or anger at the fact that he really had it all. And, he was actually quite talented with art!
Yeah but they were making fun of him for years before they even knew he had a hot wife, kids, nice home life, etc.

The episode where he and Ben went on the carriage ride we learned he acts the way he does at the office purposely and doesn’t prefer people know he is an awesome being. So humble.
I think Donna has the most exciting and insane life outside the office. Just does regular work during the day and has crazy adventures after 5PM. That would be it's own show.
I think most of them had the perfect home life for themselves. I think April and Andy are infinitely happier with how their life is than they would be if they had Garry’s life. Garry has his perfect home life, and everyone else has their own version of a perfect home life.
What an unexplored friendship in such a great TV show. It's unfair we didn't get to see more.
I think we got a really good amount. These two supporting characters got to shine. This is well done world building and characterization. We fell in love with the Donna-Jerry chemistry. A show "starting" them would've been terrible.

Huh... I'm just now realizing that over the course of 7 seasons, there are barely 5 scenes with Jerry and Donna. However, their chemistry just works so well that we remember these two as closer than they're portrayed to be.
Donna and Tom had more scenes than these two, I'll bet.
I loved Jerry's face when Donna said she was gonna get them dinner. He looked like a happy puppy!

I did not know that! Kind of a trade up, to be honest. I didn't dislike Chris and Ann, but it kind of felt like the writers were treading water with them fairly early on? I loved them, but they just seem like they didn't had enough going on to justify the amount of attention they received. These two though! I would have gladly watched more.
I think it makes sense that Donna and Jerry would be so close, they do the most work besides Leslie for the Parks and rec department and aren't they technically the most senior employees?

This was perfect, but you left out one of my favorites which was when Garry was supposed to mail out Leslie’s campaign flyers and he did all of them wrong. Donna stayed to help him! It was super sweet!

Donna laughs at Jerry’s clumsiness and stupid moments but she cares about him deeply. She doesn’t want see him hurt and honestly they are more like family at this point.

Gary is so wholesome and kind, all be it abit clumsy but his heart is always in the right place
Too many poeple want to be friends with the popular persons, but jerry is a fine example of that person who isn't cool and but could be a reliable friend (and an interresting, funny one). Jerry should be the kind of middle_aged adult we want to become : his public life is boring and unnoticed but his family life is content and complete and safe. We think that to live a full life we have to be loud and visible and thrilling and exceptional. We don't dream of an '' ordinary life'', because it lacks' 'bling' ' but trully, most popular ppl and successful ppl are miserable where it counts. The' 'B' ' word thing seems absurd, but i' ve noticed it since i was a kid : the less violence there's in a family, the lower is their tolerance threshold for violence. I've had a gf who would be devastated bc her father simply yelled at her, bc verbal violence occurs so rarely in their home. I've known other kids who would get a beating and go back to play, not that it doesn't hurt them, but the daily exposure to violence takes away the '' shock'' factor. So Jerry' s over reaction to his wife '' light gentle criticism'' makes sense,if there no violence in their home.

This was a great homage to Garry! He was made fun of most of all but I think all of our lives would be better if we all had a "Garry" in our lives.

Music nerd time!
At 4:37, Tom sings a Bb. Donna sings a D, a major third above. To create the major chord sound we are all familiar with, April would need to sing an F, a perfect fifth. Instead, she sings an F#, which is an augmented fifth, creating that dissonant sound. Instead of creating a major triad, she created an augmented triad, a quite spicy chord most frequently seen in jazz, for example in place of the 5 chord in a minor blues. Andy then sings another Bb an octave above to top it off. Shows how in-sync April and Andy are and brings out some of April's personality. Not sure if this was written on improvised but it's a cool detail.
I feel like Donna knew Jerry's real name but still called him Jerry because it was the norm of the office
Donna is a gem. She gets along with anyone, a badass yet softie in the inside.

I love this shot cause it’s hilarious seeing the three of them stand together like that. Ron with this apathetic scowl and Chris’s permanent huge grin, while they’re both just standing still staring straight ahead is the best. And Donna just leaning back and eating popcorn next to them is the cherry on top.

Garry didn't deserve to get bullied on this show. It just makes the rest of the cast seem less likeable when they treat a good guy like that. It should've been Tom who got bullied

@@ryman1933 Great minds think alike, I guess. Characters like Andy, April and Ron all just seem so unlikeable when you see them treat him like that. The moments in this video at least made me love Donna more. She just seemed like a sarcastic but genuine friend to him

@@eryvac0074 Even seeing Leslie be mean to him feels cruel and out of character. She was always shown as a overly caring individual who wanted more than anything to improve the lives of everyone, and she was always shown to get along with anyone who treats her with mutual respect. Yet she goes out of her way to show malice towards him for reasons unknown, despite his consistently caring and friendly attitude. You are right and it very well should have been Tom who got bullied considering he was already established as a character who could always bounce back, and offered an equal annoyance in exchange for his deserved bullying.

This is why Gary Grgich is actually my favorite character in all of Parks and Recreation
