There is a big chance that you don't know about this game and you might think that the only BF2 game that exist is on PC. In reality this game exists and it was absolutely amazing online. It had impressive size maps and 24 players online matches, this game always amazed me how many calls could the ps2 cpu make for this game to run.
However as much as the online was awesome the single players was pretty bad.
Overall an amazing game that i loved so much, sure i played the PC version more but i played this game online quite a bit.

Submerged mission instead of destroying the 3 submarines we could of taken them ourselves sinse we took out the enemy in area lol

This was my first Battlefield, i played on my good old ps2
This is just like the modern battlefield games, hop into cars, choppers, tanks, deploy parachutes from any height, repair stuff, steal vehicles from enemies. This is the father of every battlefield game, a classic masterpiece of battlefield, Im proud that I played this game.

That was my favorite part and how we were the Chinese and america forces fighting a private war modern warfare style lol

Hands down the best Battlefield campaign. Open ended levels, hotswapping, no unnecessary cutscenes, great soundtrack and really nice variety of missions and objectives.

Loved this game on my ps2, i was a beta tester for Sony in the UK so i got all the modem, headset and games etc. for free (Socom anyone?) but this, as far as multiplayer goes was the dogs bollocks! ah, fond memories of packing a jeep full of sticky tank mines and pelting towards a group of enemies, just to jump out and let it roll towards them...BOOM!
Wish they did that with the later BF games :(

Game was way ahead of its time. Some games now a days can’t even make vehicles that you can walk up to and drive like battlefield. “It’ll break the game” some will say. But on ps2 and Xbox original it could handle it and I’m happy I got to play it. Maybe some companies will learn to dumb down the graphics to add to playable content.

My first ever Battlefield series I ever played. I remember you can do bowling with enemies as a pin and grenades as the bowling.
The nostalgia, the intro map was my favorite map. I miss being able to call in artilery strikes and the mortars you could spam as well. It's sad that they went away with those abilities in the online play.
Still have the ps2 and this game on cd, only legends played it. Made my childhood great👍

For the past 6 months or so I've been trying to remember what game this was since when I was younger this was everything I played, I only remembered the first mission and the mission metal island and it made me so sad that I would forget such a substantial part of my childhood.

Pure nostalgia
I for one loved the singleplayer when i was a kid. I loved switching between soilders on will and when dieing, but you have a limites amount of soilders. It was a great way of introducing lives into an fps game. You couldnt throw away every life but at the same time you had to switch between them to save them. The story itself wasnt too good but the gameplay was amazing and when i first got to play online i was amazed even more.
OK listen before bad company or bf3 and bf4 this is the first battlefield game feasting an real single player mode with full story

Oh man i really want a game with that hotswap mechanic,imagine a multiplayer 1v1 game with that.
When playing this I found the Sniper’s laser target designator to be OP in most missions as you can just cheese some missions (at the cost of time but who cares) while the Medic’s air strike was hella inaccurate as it can’t kill the tanks on the beach level. And the upgrades were a cool addition... made some classes OP and the Humvee became a laser. I had trouble doing the helicopter recon mission as a kid and I’m still unsure how I passed it. Speaking of that mission I was able to kill a Driver of a AA tank once... idk how but I did. I got in it and realized I won’t be able to do much, as the other AA tank opened fire and killed me. I played this a little while ago and was astounded that I couldn’t bear my old scores! How was 8yo me able to be such a god?! I found the sniper’s PDA thingy to be useful later on when I replayed it recently as it would point out where a group of enemies are at. When I do the sniper mission I usually cant kill the helicopter no matter what I did. Until I progressed and unlocked the laser... that is when the helicopter became a footnote to me (I would fire hundreds of sniper rounds at it but they wouldn’t do anything!)
I also got into one of those machine gun tanks, I just have to parachute in the air and look down, and when my crosshair became red I shoot, and somehow shot the guy inside, then when I got in, I enjoyed the little time I had with it, before an engineer blew it up, or was it a Helicopter, oh well I had fun. Also if you are accurate enough, you can shoot people in the cockpit of a helicopter and grab it and have fun in the sky.

I remember getting in a jeep and using the 50. Cal till I got 2.0x fire rate and damage because your basicly invincible by the fire rate you get.
I've played every single bf but didn't know if I remember playing this one.. I played bf2, bf2 special forces bf 2142 and so on but just got reminded this one

In part like a mini competition, and in part in order to share time with him.
I remember this game almost did not happen. When it came out back in 2005 when playing online as the terrorists vs Marines you could stick C4 on your vehicle drive in to the marine base and detonate. This game caught a lot of flak because of that.

I played it a lot when I was a kid, it's a shame the game wasn't successful, it's the only campaign that has open maps and vehicles in addition to the mechanic of swapping soldiers, imagine a sequel on the PS3/X360 that would have expanded and improved the game's campaign

I sniped the helicopter pilot and manage to steal it (hard to pull off on a first try but once you got it is worth it)
Indeed, I did it no scoping and was 20 X harder, because I did not know the analog was a button.
